I hired a 9 seater VW minibus from Locauto at Verona Airport, Italy. After driving for about 30 minutes, having covered 20Km in heavy traffic, the clutch burned out. “Roof not insured”

We hired a car with Locauto for a weeks' holiday in Sorrento as part of the flight/accommodation package booked online. “Never Hire a car from this company”

We hired a car from this company (the worst I have ever used ) in Catania Airport. We queued for around an hour as each person took at least 20 minutes to deal with. The staff were very slow and completely unbothered at the queue of irate people in front of them. The car itself was ok. When dropping it off they said there were dents on the roof which we definitely didn't do. Picked up the car at Alghero airport on the 2nd of september, they charged an add. €1100,00 on the VISA. “CAUTION: Cheap rental price but very expensive afterwards”

Locauto’s rental price may be slightly cheaper than its competitors but you will be pressured to pay exorbitant amounts for minor “damage” when returning the car. They charged me €75 for scratches to one wheel, which were very minor and, I suspect, already there when I rented the car. Most renters and rental companies would not even flag such minor scratches. “Very Bad Company”

They are too slow, too rude and unprofessional. They cahrged 40 euro for a plastic wheele damage witout giving any information. “Fraudulent organisation.”

When I returned the Locauto hire car I was told there was damage to the front valance of the vehicle. I asked to see the damage and initially I could see no damage at all. It was only when I lay on the ground that a minor scratch on the underside of the passenger side of the front valance could be seen. As I said on the form I was asked to fill in at the time I was fairly sure I had not done that damage. Rented a Fiat Panda at Catania airport September 2013. Usual lengthy rigmarole at the desk, hard luck if you're not fluent in the lingo, sign your life away. Given a key fob with badly written registration number and BRONZE colour car description. Spent ages looking round car park for the car. Get in touch with your credit card company, chances are that they will take Locauto to task over this. Mine told me that if they get enough complaints which can be upheld they will cancel Locauto's license: no license means no ability to stay in business. Simple.

Exact same situation, except the € 48.80 administration fee came 2 years 9 months after the accident for which we paid EUR

650 back then! This is just ridiculous.

Does anyone have any useful suggestions what can be done about this? Is it worth taking them to court for this amount? If

yes, where do we get legal advise, to begin with?

Maybe some sort of complaint to the authorities might help change their approach. If yes, which is the right authority to

complain to?

I am realistic about my case and understand that I will have to pay this. But if you could answer the questions above it

might help the others a lot.

We brought car back to Bari airport and were told that we had done damage to the back of car whic we know we hadn't. There was no way we could argue as it was not highlighted on picking up the car. We received no paperwork with the rental, just shown pictures on a hand held device. While we were there trying to fight our corner, three more renters brought their cars back. destroyed the start of out holiday in Venice, Italy. People in front of us in the queue and after us were dismissed one after the other (4 in time i was there) by a extremely rude and offensive staff, who managed to find fault with each person's booking and refused to proceed. “Worst Car Rental Company Ever”

Unfortunately I suffered a miss-selling of "zero excess" insurance. Despite being told the insurance covered "everything" it seemingly didn't cover the minor scrape on the alloy wheels. When collecting the car the Locauto rep said I didn't really need to check the car as "everything" was covered. This was a lie - when returning the car I was told wheels and tyres aren't covered! “Rude and unhelpful”

Arrived at Venice airport to find that they would not accept the Credit card that our booking was done with. We suggested that I being the wife and second driver had my credit card with me and could use it instead. The young woman in charge refused this solution and instead went on to being totally obnoxious and rude. I have had a terrible experience with Locauto, but at the Fuimicino airport desk. I have also been charged with damages which weren't caused by me, and the customer service is extremely rude and the agent at the return desk was verbally abusive to me and my colleague and, in addition, tried to physically remove my camera phone after I took photos of him and the supposed damage to the rental car. I'm a very experienced traveler and use car rental companies at least 20 times a year. I've seen them all and Locauto are in the bucket of the ones who make their money the ugly way. They will rip you off. Things to watch out for with them: 1) Upgrade costs. We rented with them through their Rome CIA airport office.
