I bought a used 95k in mint condition and discovered that it was only putting out 9.5ft lbs, since I am an Engineer I stripped it down and found that some one had shortened the spring. Obviously having taken it to pieces (very easy) i was able to see just how well engineered the gun is, and it is very well engineered.. I have ordered a v Mach tuning kit which I will put in and re-assemble and report back after completion and testing. So far I have to say the gun is miles ahead of the BSA... (read more)

I recently visited the local gun range and had previously set my heart on purchasing either a 97K or 80k (even though they are a little on the heavy side) as every review for these rifles are superb. One of the guys on the range was shooting with a 95k with silencer and hitting every target with ease. He owned a number of different air guns for both hunting and target shooting and explained that he would choose this gun over all other springers due to the weight and accuracy. I gave it a try... What a choice i made it is is simply the best, great trigger after trying few different pellets i found the crosman premium the best suited. getting grouping of one inch at 40 yards.very deligted.

Wanted a decent second airgun to complement my 97k. I had been shooting rabbits with a friend (me with the 97k him with my old xocet). I was hitting the rabbits easily at 30-40m, he was missing. So after some research on the web and a visit to my gunsmith walked out with a Weihrauch HW95k. It is cheaper than a 97k and the quality is not as good. But the accuracy with accupells easily matches the 97k. It is a bit light and wavey so you will have to get used to it.That comment only makes... (read more)

The Weihrauch HW95k was my first air rifle and I found it very easy to use. I opted for the .177 version with the purpose of target shooting rather than hunting. Though I imagine it's easily as capable as the .22.
I found the accuracy brilliant with a scope, it's very powerful, it looks great, and due to the solid German engineering will probably last forever. Enough said really. I would recommend it, you won't be dissappointed!

Heron's in the UK are a protected Bird. If you are from the UK you are breaking the law and have 0 excuses other than you should be locked up. As for needing 3 shots to kill a rabbit at 50 yards. If you cannot do it then do not shoot at that range. Lower you range to 30 yrds and stick at that range. People like you should not even be shooting if you cannot do it in a humane manner. And like the person above me you and other like you are the reason air rifles have such bad rep with the public.

Hi is your 95k the carbine version with Weihrauch silencer and if so how long is it
Does it handle ok in the field
Does it have a lot of recoil
Written on: 21/03/2007
Hi mate, yes mine is the carbine version with Weihrauch silencer. Here are the lengths - barrel without silencer-23cm barrel with silencer 43cm, the gun length with silencer is roughly 1.2metres, and without the silencer is roughly 1 metre and is very good in the field, does the job for me. It has a little recoil but nothing major, when i first got it it did seem like it had a lot of recoil but after half hour of using it you get used to it and hardly notice it and it still goes un-noticed to this day also it is very accurate! Put a target out at a range you are comfortable shooting at, lay down with a bi-pod or use something to rest on and find a technique for shooting it, its well worth doing because at around 35 yards I'm pretty much getting it in the same hole every time. Go and buy one its a superb rifle. You won't be disappointed.

Like all HW's, well engineered, will last a lifetime if looked after. Also very easy to tune, i have recently fitted a modified piston and spring to my 95, aquired from a well known gun customiser. The 95 shoots very sweetly at around 11.6 ft 1bs, and is as accurate as my pcps. Recoil is reduced with these tuning parts. What suits me, might not suit you. I've had a 95 for about 6 months and would be interested ingetting it tuned etc.. where/what would you recommend?
Written on: 21/12/2006
Hi bebbo, the 95 is a great little gun to tune. The best man for quality tuning parts is Steve Pope at v-mach. You can get a spring kit for £60, this includes spring, guide, seals and lube. Tell steve the calibre, and he'll sort you out a kit that will be right on the limit. This will make your gun consistent, quieter, and give less recoil. He also does a piston £65, eliminates friction, and vibration, smoother to cock. That's what is in my 95, also have chopped the barrel to 12" and threaded for a parker hale silencer, makes it as quiet as a pcp. If you need any advice, please ask. Hope this was of help to you. regards the shooter

I recommend you stick with a Weihrauch silencer. By far the best silencer for money out there!
Written on: 31/12/2006
If you buy the Weihrauch silencer it's £43. The Parker Hale is £25. The Weihrauch only has 2 chambers; the Parker Hale is all steel, with multi steel baffles, and in my opinion is miles better.

Written on: 22/11/2007
hi telboy, sorry, haven't been on net for months, I had the barrel cut to 10" by a good gunsmith, who threaded and crowned the barrel, sadly I sold the gun. However, just purchased a new one, now comes already threaded, and fitted with a much improved silencer, had a full tune kit from v-mach, and got a stock for around £120 from the states. it is as accurate as my air arms mpr, and I managed a 7mm group at 60 metres, it also dispatches squirrels very well. I was persuaded to convert to 177 calibre, so sold my 3 .22, I wouldn't change back, and have had 100% success!
Written on: 22/11/2007
hi gazzlerazzle, sorry to hear that. the new weihrauch silencer is 100% improved over the old one. I consulted with my gunsmith, he says he has come across this problem, as parker hale now seem to produce several types of silencer with different threads, but all appear to be visually identical, and some don,t line up with the bore, hence your problem, hope you've go it sorted, great little gun

I bought a 95k in .22 cal shoots quite well as standard but i gave it a tune and what a difference it made, the only problem i found when doing the tune was the mainspring. The end that goes into the piston was just cut off, not what you would expect for a german gun, so i heated the end and levelled it off fitted a tophat good polish and relube needed a small amount of preload and it now shoots very consistent at 11.5=11.6 and seems to like hnftt pellets i also found that the carbine barrel... It's a common problem with the 95. I think the spring is chopped, when the rifle comes into the country, to keep it under the UK legal limit. You are right, the Weihrauch HW95K rifle responds very well to a tune. You can even get a performance piston for them. You can't go wrong with an HW.

The Weihrauch HW95K is probably too heavy for a small child, but my 11 year old son is capable of using this effectively. He is managing 4" groups at 30 yards from a sitting position, which is not too bad for a kid!

Ouch!. Point taken...You like yours then?
Maybe for back yard plinking it's a satisfactory rifle, but as a hunting tool it's useless. A hunting rifle should be relatively light and well balanced, and the Weihrauch HW95K is neither. If this offends you then I apologise, but I say what I see. Maybe a Carbine version would be an improvement.

A HW95K is a carbine? I use mine for hunting. I find mine a bit light, so I might put a big scope on it to way it down a bit. Have you had any good results with springers mate? Because I can put pellets near enough in the same hole at 50 yards with Accupels.
Written on: 27/11/2006
To be honest I don't do a lot of target shooting, unless it's to set up a scope. But once a scope is set up properly I have never missed a rabbit head-shot. I always use RWS Super H point pellets, which I have found to be every bit as accurate as the Acupels, but they have more stopping power. I have sold my Weihrauch HW95 to a workmate who seems happy with it. Just not the rifle for me. For close-up hunting I use my trusty BSA's; all of them I have had tuned and a gas strut has been fitted. For the long range stuff I use my Brocock Enigma (50 yards +). If I do fancy a spot of target shooting I use the Feinwerkbau, but this is a rarity.

Every rifle has its own little foibles, but I found too many with the HW. But...it would be a sad world if we all liked the same things...maybe a tad more peaceful :-).

I love the Brocock. It's a great rifle, but I still prefer the 3 BSA carbines I have.

Hey, no offence meant earlier mate. You're right, it's about personal choice, but I find this gun fine for hunting and target shooting - all in all a great all rounder. I have used Accupels and RWS hollows in the 95k, and they are both great, dependent on your needs for the day.
I use H&N field and target trophy pellets - very accurate and extremely hard hitting.
I hunt typically twice a week and take about 30 - 40 rabbits a month for the pot and the dogs. A very accurate and reliable rifle - a dependable friend in the field.

Yeah you can hit them, but are they accurate?

The Weihrauch HW 95 is powerful, sharp, very well balanced, with its walnut stock that makes a real pleasure to handle it. The legendary Weihrauch "Rekord" trigger is adjustable, but it's just perfect out of the box. Mine is a 4.5 calibre; I paid about €300 for it, a fair amount to spend for a carbine you'd never give up shooting. Perfect for target shooting, as well as for controlling pests in your backyard. I guess it's also good for hunting small quarries, but I can't really tell, as... (read more)

The Weihrauch HW95K is my first air gun. It is very accurate, and very easy to shoot. I got a kill on the very first day I shot at a live target. It is a superb gun for target practice. My arm was hurting a little after cocking the gun a couple of times.
An excellent choice for a first timer, look no further.

After much deliberation, reading reviews and trying air rifles in shops to see what 'fitted' me, I opted for the Weihrauch HW95k in .22 cal, teamed with a Hawke 3-9x40 Mil-dot scope. Having previously owned a HW77 many years ago, I knew the quality I could expect from a Weirauch... I wasn't disappointed. It's light, accurate and more than powerful enough for pigeons, rabbits and corvids. (read more)

I bought the Weihrauch HW95k gun after much research and decided that this was the gun for me. I went to my local store and got a feel for the gun and as soon as I picked it up I knew this felt right and was onto a winner. After a day of waiting for a silencer to be fitted and a scope I couldn't wait to fire my first pellet (.22) What an experience that was. It took me just 20 minutes to set up from scratch and within that time I was hitting dead centre every time at 20 yards. I extended... (read more)

I purchased a brand new Weihrauch HW95k from London air gun centre. I had used my brothers previously and got good kills at 45 yards. This particular rifle I purchased was very inaccurate dieseled so bad it broke the caliberaters in my very expensive bushnell scope. Split the piston washer, sent back to london air gun centre was repaired and they sent back the hopeless inaccurate rifle. HN field target trophy pelets still inaccurate could not get it to be accurate fired hundreds of pellets... (read more)

I have had my HW95 for about a year now and have enjoyed using it every time. Its the most accurate rifle I have ever handled with 1/2 inch groupes at 30yrds.
The stock is beutifuly crafted like the metalwork. It all just falls into place in your shoulder. The light weight feel makes it shoot like a dream. yet another excellent gun from weihrauch.
Has anyone put a silencer on the thread at the end of the barrel because ive got a webley pro system at the moment and its not very good. ...

Hi there, as you know a lot about this gun could you tell me whether this is better than a webley stingray or a hw 99s? thanks.

The Weihrauch HW95K gun is obviously better than the HW99A because of the price for starters. Also, I have a 99s and they aren't that good!!

I am using this space to follow up the review I wrote above, having dismantled the gun and done some research I have found out that the spring is shortened at the factory, and although the gun running under power was very accurate it was more by luck than quality. The matching burrs on the internals were left un dressed, and I have to say if you buy one either strip it and polish it your self or get a gun smith to doit for you, you will also prob need to replace the spring. Don't be fooled by the reviews you read in air gun magazines, those mags rely on advertising and are thus biased, don't trust em
