“Will never use Domestic & General again”

Won't bore you with the detail as I'm bored with it myself but basically our policy was useless and we cancelled when our fridge freezer couldn't be fixed as agreed when we took out the contract. Three months down the line I'm still having to speak to them and a debt collecting company they instructed to chase close to £200 they said I owed them. “Incompetant Staff in replacement team.”

I purchased an insurance policy through the purchase of a tv. A fault occurred on the tv and after 4 months of attempts to repair it they decided to write the tv off. They made an offer which was woeful and I refused, as a result a higher offer was made which i accepted. However in order to get a new tv i need a letter to say i was accepting the offer before the tv shop would send me a replacement. Trying to get the letter was like pulling teeth. “Aggressive marketing company”

This company continually rings me, each time I say I'm not interests, please do not call me again. Each time the operator slams the phone down on me and another operator calls me back. I have tried to contact the company in writing as speaking to them has no effect, but in order to do so you have to provide them with even more personal information about yourself. absolutely disgusting service...plan was mis-sold I was told an engineer had not visited even though we stood in house with him.....customer services are rude and badly trained.....repair was authorized and then cancelled then re-authorized with a confirmation call then cancelled yet again.........direct debits taken from the bank after plan was cancelled via themselves......never ever dealt with a company as inadequate or bad and senior customer services are liars… Read Full Review

“TERRIBLE SERVICE”

Started new plans and orignals not cancelled so payments duplicated, then wrong plans cancelled so overpayments continued. Held in call queues for ridiculous lengths of time to try to sort out and all complaints staff completely inadequate in terms of understanding of issues and further mess ups. “Get what you pay for”

Oven broke down three days before policy renewal, called and they said an engineer would come in a months time! That was not acceptable so they got one that would take only two weeks. Knowing what he fault was I told them the part that was required and they said they would tell the engineers company that they would send. “Dreadful service. Left on phone for three hours.”

I have a fridge freezer 'covered' by them. My appliance has broken down for the third time, and the engineer has written it off. I lost a freezer full of food for the third time too. Domestic & General have refused to accept the engineer's report, even though the policy states a replacement would be made, if it was beyond repair. “Misleading information regarding boilers”

I have been with Dom&Gen for over 6 years and was on the platinum plan (supposedly the best plan and covers everything). Recently we had a problem with the boiler and it was picked up by Baxi technicians during an annual servicing. Paid kitchen appliance insurance for last 5 years. Fridge freezer part not available. 4 freezers supplied either wrong size or incorrect doors. “Hotpoint Double Oven, Model DH93X.”

The cooker worked very well at first and was a dream to use compared to my old one. I took out the extended warranty because the indicator light on the front of the cooker failed within the first twelve months. The engineer told me this was because of the heat generated had melted the lamp holder? A second lamp failed and the same engineer came out and repaired it! There phone lines are pathetic & cut you off so you just have to try every option until you eventually manage to get through to someone. Once you do get through to someone they are totally useless. I constantly got told to phone other numbers for information with equally poor phone lines & service. It took me 3 weeks of phone calls to find out what was going on with my repair. My 3 year old samsung tv broke and and I invoked my 5 year d&g warranty that I'd been given by house of Fraser with my original purchase. My tv was taken away and deemed not cost effecive to repair so I was offered a replacement. Same problem, spoke to them in November, now january, no oven working for over 6 weeks.
Told by stoves the manufactorer parts havenot been available for four years.
But D & G took money every month , overnight renewal every year for an oven they could not repair

We phoned Domestic & General on Dec 17 to tell them our Belling cooker was faulty and needed repairing before Christmas day as we had a large number of guests coming for lunch. We were given a visit date by the engineer of DEC 30th. I spent a total of 4 hours on the phone trying to get the matter resolved.
