“DO NOT USE - TOTALLY INCOMPETENT”

Do not touch this with a barge pole - totally useless from the engineers who come to try and repair top the 'customer service' team (in the loosest sense of the word) on the phones. You can never get though, you get cut off, they bounce you between areas, no one has the power or the brain cells to makes a decision or provide service. Despite 3 telephone calls and two letters and my twice cancelling a direct debit. D & G will not cancel cover which I do not want on a washer/drier nor will they respond to my requests to refund the premiums they have collected despite my specific instructions. This company is totally incapable of understanding plain English. “Broken Promises.”

Constantly being let down by D&G with the repair of Whirlpool Amaerican Fridge Freezer. 3 visits in 3 weeks from the engineer before they decided they could not get the required part and so they said it would be replaced with a equvilent model. They claimed I would be contacted in 48 hrs . I had to contact them after a week when they still had not made contact. Policy staff said new for old, like for like, intelligent cooker for intelligent cooker? wrong! I got a experience basic cooker for my 7 year old intelligent cooker(no comparison).Replacement man said the only difference was a 5mm measurement? Hi User.

Sorry to hear about this situation.

It's likely that the theft cover only covers for theft by force or violence. A pick pocket is just theft by deception and whilst you might think it's covered because it is 'theft' you might be wrong.

The insurers have merely adhered to the terms and conditions of the policy which in this instance haven't provided cover.

“Waste of money”

Had a policy for a long time, used it for the first time this week as oven broke down. Booked an engineer to come between 8-6 so had to take the day off work. When they didn't turn up by about 2pm called and they said yes all scheduled in. Having read a fair number of the recent reviews on this site, the comments are all too familiar regarding the poor service from D&G. My experiences are similar so I wont repeat it here. D&G will ring me any day now to ask if I would like to renew the policy one of my policies so it will be time to make a decision. “Christmas oven nightmare”

2pm Christmas Eve, we switched our hotpoint oven on and it tripped the electric. We rang d and g, and a message came up that the office was closed! According to our policy they were open 365 days a year. We had the same problem at the being of December and an engineer had come out 5 days later and replaced the element, so we surprised that the replacement had lasted for such a short time, especially as we only use the oven a couple of times a week. Basically domestic and general have been taken over by a new company last year and they are going to boost profits and then sell the business on. One way to boost profits is to reduce the amount the company is paying out on replacement appliances.
