“Misleading information regarding boilers”

I have been with Dom&Gen for over 6 years and was on the platinum plan (supposedly the best plan and covers everything). Recently we had a problem with the boiler and it was picked up by Baxi technicians during an annual servicing. The Baxi technicians said we needed to contact an independent engineer to resolve the issue as Dom&Gen would not cover this. “Disgusting customer care”

Paid kitchen appliance insurance for last 5 years. Fridge freezer part not available. 4 freezers supplied either wrong size or incorrect doors. When finally given fridge freezer that fit, it malfunctioned within 3 months, refused replacement, as now under new warranty, we were unaware where and who ordered item,and from what supplier. within 2 weeks of part being fitted, malfunctioned again. “Double charged ”

Been insuring items a long time good service but I was insuring things separately on different plans so when I was able to combine all items on one policy I did so but the direct debits had just been payed but the a week later the new plan started and I notice they were going to take another direct debit out meaning I would then pay again that month so I phoned domestic and general only to be told that unfortunately that's how it works and that I couldn't have my money returned no compassion… Read Full Review

“Hotpoint Double Oven, Model DH93X.”

The cooker worked very well at first and was a dream to use compared to my old one. I took out the extended warranty because the indicator light on the front of the cooker failed within the first twelve months. The engineer told me this was because of the heat generated had melted the lamp holder? A second lamp failed and the same engineer came out and repaired it! “Worst Service Ive ever had!!!!!”

There phone lines are pathetic & cut you off so you just have to try every option until you eventually manage to get through to someone. Once you do get through to someone they are totally useless. I constantly got told to phone other numbers for information with equally poor phone lines & service. It took me 3 weeks of phone calls to find out what was going on with my repair. “Do not take a warranty with domestic and general”

My 3 year old samsung tv broke and and I invoked my 5 year d&g warranty that I'd been given by house of Fraser with my original purchase. My tv was taken away and deemed not cost effecive to repair so I was offered a replacement. “D&M policy-never answer the phone!”

Same problem, spoke to them in November, now january, no oven working for over 6 weeks.
Told by stoves the manufactorer parts havenot been available for four years.
But D & G took money every month , overnight renewal every year for an oven they could not repair

“4 hours on the phone”

We phoned Domestic & General on Dec 17 to tell them our Belling cooker was faulty and needed repairing before Christmas day as we had a large number of guests coming for lunch. We were given a visit date by the engineer of DEC 30th. I spent a total of 4 hours on the phone trying to get the matter resolved. Got a broken washing machine, no problem got an extended warranty with D&G...no Trying to contact their call centre is a disgrace, you get various automated options, then you join a queue, upon you hear the engaged tone, after 30 seconds it cuts you off!!! Do not waste your money, save it for buying new appliance. The customer service very poor regarding the oven and the dishwasher. Do not expect any work done. One engineer told me to cook on the bottom shelf only after changing some parts that was his solution. 6 telephone calls I had to make to Electrolux. Worst company I have ever dealt with. Dishwasher repair and the companies they use are terrible. Been out four times and still not fixed and thier senior managers in resolution team, just don't care

“A total disgrace”

Had a kitchen fitted with Candy appliances in 2007. After 12 months the washer dryer failed twice. We decided to take out the extended warranty with Domestic and General. The engineer has visited us at least 4 times a year because of the dryer. The filter is at the back, not good for an inbuilt appliance. in 2009 the oven door exploded, showering the kitchen with glass. On 5th Nov the same happened again. I bought a Beko tumble dryer on the 25th of October 2014, I called the number on the appliance which rather than Beko turned out to be Domestic & General. “Disappointing service”

A small plastic paddle broke in my Hoover washing machine, very easy to fix. The number I had to phone for service was the premium rate HooverCandy number on which I was left on hold earning them money. Much like everyone else I cannot seem to get my washing machine repaired!! The first engineer they advised me to contact didn't show up, the second couldn't come for over a week. Each time I called I was on hold for over 15 minutes, and Involved me doing the work. I won't be keeping my insurance following this event as it's simply a waste of money!! I'm so disappointed with their customer service. The are not polite, patient or even willing to hear you out. I have been waiting a week and a half just to get my fridge fixed.
