Bought a cooker in 2014 and purchased a 5 year care plan for £98. Cooker has had 2 repairs since new and now have a new oven so cancelled the plan expecting a partial refund. (if I had been paying monthly I could have stopped my payments) Was told no refund due as I had had repairs done. The terms and conditions say "if replacement equipment or writ-off no refund is due. “Terrible Service :-( do not take out a D&G contract”

Contract auto renewed at begging of June 2016. Appliance broke down (not for the first time) on 16th June, repair reported immediately, advised HOTPOINT can't attend till 6th July !! Really !! But someone would contact me with 3 days to confirm if appointment could be brought forward .. No one called, so I called them... “Don't trust domestic general”

Fridge door fell off (double door fridge) and shattered so phoned domestic general to arrange repair. They put me through to hotpoint who were more than useless and couldn't send an engineer before 8 days! “Poor Service - 9 weeks waiting”

Booked repairs for a four year old Stoves Richmond 1100E and when engineer turned up, he told me that it needed a new induction hob (basically the whole hob unit) to be fitted and that the part would not be in stock until 25 August 2016 - a wait of over 9 weeks. The is SECOND time that this cooker has needed the SAME part to be replaced. In its short life, the cooker has needed three repairs; the first one when it was just over a year old. “Disgusting waste of money”

I purchased a cooker from the co-op on January 29th 2015, I took out the extended warranty with this company and sorely regret it. I've had to have an engineer out to it four times and now they've written it off. They offered me a replacement Cooker that is £140 cheaper than mine and horrible. Have you tried speaking to ombudsman, me and my mum have just been speaking about something similar as her washing machine drum and bearings have gone and the company what manufactures the parts has gone bust and she is now worrying about what they will offer her if it's to be replaced - I don't understand how a company can pick an appliance for someone's home it's personal and factors into the home via specs and looks - hope you get the resolution you deserve which is to choose the replacement yourself

Hi, it's now sorted, I went on Twitter and made them look idiots and they paid me out in full, plus an extra £100. I will never use them again though.

“Waste of Money - Washing Machine Insurance”

Repair took 3 weeks and I am still waiting. The irony is that I have already paid enough to buy a new machine in insurance/warrantee fee. They are using Hotpoint repair which is just as bad. I believe Domestic & General is responsible for the repair company they are using and the promptness or otherwise of response. “Left without a reliable Freezer for 6 months.”

I have been paying over £100 a year for freezer Insurance in the event of a failure for a number of years for my Hotpoint FZ175 Freezer. The total amount spent on insurance would easily have covered the cost of a new Freezer if not two of them. Problem Started in February and is still not resolved despite visits from 4 Hotpoint engineers. The last visit changed control board, heater element, Fan, and total re-gas of the compressor. “Efficient at setting up policies-Very poor at settling...”

I doubt I will ever insurance anything again with D & G, there customer service is polite and respond quickly to emails, but don't actually do anything to progress claims. I paid to insure a Video/DVD player for years. When it went wrong it was collected for repair quite quickly and easily. I logged a repair on June 12th. Washer dryer- it was an emergency as the washer would not stop filling with water and the only way to shut this off was to shut the electrics (fridge freezer and boiler as well). My washing machine broke so made a claim in the middle of May. I was convinced it was the bearings due to the noise it was making. The first 4 engineers didn't even turn the machine on to diagnose the problem! One engineer took the washing machine outside to fix and after lots of banging with a hammer returned it as fixed. So I've never taken a policy with D&G and I have specifically told them in writing and by phone NOT TO CONTACT ME yet they continue to ignore this and send me letters to sign up to their crappy insurance policies nearly every month which are full of my details, so I have to shred them. Hi , I also have policy for washing machine & Fridge freezer with these guys and recently had to call engineer for the fridge breaking down ,I reported repair on the 2nd of June and 1st available date for engineers visit was 13TH JUNE , I said that I thought 2weeks wait was quite a long time to be without my appliance in the heatwave we was having also and I was under the assumption that this is why I paid monthly to domestic & general for a prompt hassle free service should anything break down , To which I'm told engineers very busy and ill be put on a list should anybody cancel and then id be seen earlier .A little confused but call ended , On the Monday after weekend I called again and said was nit happy actually weaiting 2 weeks might aswell not be paying out to you and sort it myself, The lady this ytime was quite taken aback it sounded by the wait I'm told I had to wait and straight away put me through to resolutions , I was told if they cannot cover with there original engineers for any reason
, They have to give you a contact of another engineer . unfortunately these were no quicker to come as very busy , I called back d&g then told me io can find one myself and the ins and outs of how and what terms on , the cost etc , So I would call back dom & gen and ask to be put through to the resolutions team and why you've notbeen offered this after this amount of time and still not repaired . hope you get it sorted soon good luck ;)

Please avoid this company at all costs. I have had numerous repairs and call outs all at incredibly inconvenient times that i have begged and pleaded for members of my family to be home for. The problem is that their time slots are very limited and they can only book you out for day long repair visits (although they do go to great lengths to let you know that the day before they send you a text detailing ETA.
