I was looking to start my young son out with some athletics events as he had shown some interest at school and is not a great fan of either football or other team sports. Sadly we fumbled at the first step as there really is a shortage of good information online to learn about the different events, and more importantly where you can actually talk part in them. Not being involved with Athletics previously I had no idea where the nearest club was, what events my son would be able to do, how much it costs or anything else. Then a friend told me to look on yorkshireathletics.co.uk and it literally covered everything I needed to know.

It gave me the contact information for all the clubs in my area (Leeds) and gave me a good idea of some guide pricing for attending and the likely equipment needed. I also got an unbiased view of which club to join (of which there are many!) and some suppliers that sell the right sort of kit without needing to order online or travel 100 miles to get it.

The site covers much more than that and will no doubt come in useful to my son as he develops as there are training guides on there, news on upcoming competitions and reviews of athletic equipment. If you're new to Athletics or seasoned pro, I would recommend having a look at the website and if possible contribute to make it even more accessible for athletes in the Yorkshire region.
