Had the Daelim 125 for six months and believe it to be the best value 125 out there. This may not be the case in Europe where they retail at around £3,000, but in the UK there are some spectacular deals to had, especially on second-hand models. The Roadsport is a technical advance on the Roadwin which is well proven and has been around for about seven years. The two bikes share the same frame, not the same engine. The Roadsport is not simply a Roadwin with a fancy fairing. Technically the bike is pretty much everything you could expect from a 125cc four-stroke. Fuel injection, 4 valves, water cooling balance shaft. 14.63 hp (11KW) the same as Yamaha R125. Performance is pretty much on par with an R125 too, perhaps topping out a little lower at 75mph upright and 80 mph tucked down behind the fairing. The handling is assured and petrol economy around 90mpg. I have done a done a non-stop run of 150 miles quite happily. 60-65mph is a genuine cruising speed. Reliability has been 100%. Build quality is good which is what you should expect from Daelim - a Korean engineering company with many years of experience of building small capacity scooter and bikes, some in partnership with Honda. I would say quality is maybe just short of Japanese, but I have owned Suzukis that aged faster. It is large for a 125cc which is both its strength and weakness. It looks like a 600 and feels substantial and secure. It is a little heavy for a 125 at 142Kg. I own a Honda Firestorm which doesn't actually feel a lot smaller, despite being 1000cc. The weight means that first and second gears are low and need to be buzzed through quickly. Power is soft until around 7,000rpm when it starts making sense, reving cleanly into the red zone at 11,000 rpm. If you want to make it sound as good as it looks, put an IXIL can on it and get a little extra torque into the bargain. If you are looking for a 125 that feels and rides like a bigger bike, then a Roadsport is well worth considering. When you can get hold of a one a year old example for around £1,000 then it becomes an absolute bargain. In my mind that price reflects the rather ignorant attitude of British buyers thinking that Daelims must be Chinese and made by three Chinese blokes in a small shed with nothing but cheap materials and a couple of hammers. Nothing could be further from the truth. Take advantage while this naivity exists and grab a bargain.
