I'm am a huge van of this car and would like to own one in a small while. I'm starting to look for a complete motor and gearbox to work on. I'm just waiting for some cash to be paid out. Great car and probably one of the fastest 1400 car I've ever driven in.

Very fast Fiat that's high on performance, cheap to run, and relatively cheap to insure!

I bought my 1994 Fiat Uno 1.4 Turbo (1395cc 70hp) from the 5th owner when it was 6 years old. One would expect constant breaking down and endless visits to repair shops. However, besides regular wear (tires, shocks, clutch, water and fuel-pump - each one once), I never spend more than 200$ a year for the rest of fixes. Of course, you can't compare this car to the never-breaking Honda, but for this super-cheap European 1994 car, it's a miracle. If it wasn't for poor safety, I would recommend this car to everyone and rate it higher.

The Fiat Uno Turbo you either love them or hate them. My mates and I both have uno's and are always in competition with each other 2 c who can get the most power. I've got an Uno arbarth with forged pistons, Greddy T2 rollerball bearing turbo, port & polished stage 2 head, 20v turbo intercooler and 55 shot of nos on 16" momo sports. witch did give me the edge. but now my mate has just dumped the 20v turbo lump in it and not surprisingly got no grip on his 16's so found the 4wd running gear off an intergrale evo turbo 16v.so like i say u gotta love um!!!!!!!

i have an uno turbo and it is gr8.its got a wide arch kit,14 inch fox evo 2 alloys and a meaty custom built 4.5 inch exhuast.the engine has so much response it it like a mini cosworth.im pushing a respectable 247BHP and a top speed of 140mph but that will all soon change as i will be having the pistons rebored and an audi quattro gearbox fitted for extra perfomance.

It deserves to be scrapped. Don't buy one!

If you can't look after your car it's not our fault, mine is 13years old and no rust, no paint falling off. Maybe you just didn't care for it. If you drove a Porsche it would be in the same state.

Me and my mate modify uno's, for a living and we have got 2 turbos. I have a mk 2 and it's knocking out 252bhp at the Wheels, it did a standing quater at santa pod this year, on the 3rd run we got the time down to 12,33secs, and we reached a top speed of 148mph @ 8000rpm it was running at 22psi, So remember Never Under estimate the POWER of the Uno.. Here is the spec. Piper fast road cam port and polished head vernier pulleys lightend bottom end lightend an balanced fly wheel roller bearing turbo uprated actuator bailey piston dump valve full K&N induction kit Full stainless scorpion pipe.. check out the website for more info....

Could you modify my Uno for me?
Written on: 25/03/2005
Like what you guys did, but here in South Africa you don't get all those fancy things to add on, where do I get your e-mail or web site?
Written on: 03/08/2003
My one friend drives a Uno Turbo 1.4 (SA version) with a Turbonetics T3, a bigger intercooler, 700cc injectors, a imported gearbox, 73mm exhausts system, K&N airfilter system, 15 inch alloys, Sony Sound Sytem, full rollcage. We haven't come accros a german car that can even come close to us on a 1/4 mile, 1/2 mile or even a mile sprint, but end of the year he's gonna upgrade his motor, forged piston, imported head and a nitrous oxide system. His monster boasts 268kw, now I have no idea how many bhp that is, but kilowatt wise, is a lot.

Well, it would be nice to actually know what you had already done but where i achieved by power was mainly putting it an Escort Cosworth engine with Zetec bottom end. This as standard is 270bhp and ALOT of tourque. So now you have this just modd it like a cossie! iv heard you can get around 800bhp out of em if youve got the money. Also a big rear spoiler wouldnt go amis as mines rear wheel drive and at the limit iz very hard to control! any way hope i helped and inspired you, but if you tell me wat youve done to youres then il tell you wat to do.

I own and also do up unos for a living!
<br>my best is a mk1 turbo that pushes out 400bhp at the fly wheel n about 360bhp at the wheels! it is a flying machine and takes out just about anything

Lot of fun, fast and enjoyable built to drive fast .

If you desire a a car with similar construction to that of a spam tin, are a dab hand at rebuilding blown engines and a good sparky to boot, then this fine example of how not to make a fast car is for you!! For something more unassuming and able to chase Cossies try the Astra 16v.Fiat "Uno" because you'll only want to drive it once!!!
Written on: 05/12/2002
Astra 16v.... Unassuming?? ... Cossie chaser?! You are a plonker. I now own an Uno Turbo, after owning a Cav GSi (1/4 mile - 16.093s) for two years and you obviously ain't got a clue. True, reliability can be an issue, but you don't buy a blown 1.4 litre engine for comfort and peace-of-mind, do you? The whole point of these little cars is that you can make them accelerate unfeasibly quickly... small turbo, spins up quickly, bye bye Astra! ('till 100mph then bye bye UT). And besides, the Uno T came with Bosch Jetronic fuel management and intercooler (unlike the equally smart but costly R5 GT) so if you want to drive like a granny, you can. All in all, these cars get, and deserve major respect...Cos they're fun and fast.
Written on: 20/09/2004
hello pedro! i used to have a cavalier gsi, actually iv had 5. dont get me wrong the c20ex engine is a legend and are fast. but when faced against an uno turbo, it wouldnt stand a chance. I also used to own an uno turbo, the speed is unbelieveable, they are so quick! stick to driving your astra like a grandad. and also your astra would not chase a cossie in the real world, only in your dreams. an uno would to 100mph
Written on: 07/01/2003
Uno in your oppinion are crud because they don't know how to modify them! They crank up the boost without getting the air pressure up! So that's where you get your problems!
I had one of the quickest in england and I never rebuilt it 0-62 in 5.65sec top speed 147mph
Written on: 05/01/2003
ok m8 an astra??? whey hey!!
these cars can move and with the added pleasure of a dump valve it makes it more enjoyable than your grandad astra! Maybe your right about the engineering reliablity but isn't that part of the fun messin about with your car and improving it! stick to your astra then son but soon you will be shatted on by a whistling fait....

If you fancy running up the backside of a cossie and pushing him all the way down the road then this Fiat Uno Turbo (1.4 Blueprint) is the car for u. Get over to Ireland and get yourself a blueprint and a remapped turbo and then expect speeds of n e thing up to 160mph and a 0-60 of about 5 secs. That is power!
Written on: 20/11/2002
160 mph ?? Yeah right m8. Is that only after the car has lost most of it's body weight due to rust !!
Written on: 25/04/2004
I have respect for those little cars; the acceleration and power kicked out by the turbo. But, here in south Africa I Have seen too many accidents with uno's to actually want one, sorry. Reverse into a pole and write off the little car, due to poorly designed stucture and safety, for a gain in weight loss -(if you know what I mean). Take care

Had 1.3 (mk1) uno and was running 17 p.s.i. Not sure about 160 mph but I was three down (one lad weighed about 18 stone) and it was still building up speed at 131 mph, but couldnt let it rev out to max speed cuz I had to get off the motor way. Had bigger wheels on though so not sure how accurate speedo was. Anyway, 160mph or not, surely the acceleration makes up for any loss on max speed, eh?
Written on: 23/11/2003
I am sorry but thats crud the lot of u are talking rubbish...If u can PROVE it with a rolling road print out then i will my shorts my next door neighbours and a pair chosen at ranodom for every bhp at the wheels thats over 240!!

Well folks, i owned an uno turbo.
It was a 1.3 turbo, had a stage 2 hybrid turbo on a rebuilt engine, gas flowed head, it had the boost valve, a baileys dump valve, full k & n induction kit and a full scorpion system running a 4" tail pipe. I can tell you guys that the car was running on a psi of 14 and was kicking out 231 bhp and was good for 148mph, very scary when cornering on 15's lowered so much that the arches rubbed.
Reluctantly i sold the car 2 mnths ago for 4 grand, f reg with 89,000 miles. It is now ready for the scrap heap and i'm gutted.

A blueprint it where the engine has been set to a factory standard

Ive never heard of or seen a Uno Turbo, doin 160mph. I know you can get them to have the same power to weight ratio of a ferrari. Wots this blueprint your on about, I've never heard of them.

I got 291bhp out of my Fiat Uno Mark 1, and I'm an accountant with no mechanical knowledge.
