I used Churchill Car Insurance to insure my vauxhall corsa and they were the cheapest but when I needed to change my address they wanted to charged me extra.

Haven't needed to claim yet but Churchill Car Insurance are very easy to deal with, quick with documentation especially when needing free inclusive cover for a courtesy car when your car is being serviced at a garage [not to be confused with a repair as part of a claim.] Some companies especially internet only based ones do not offer this facility.

Overall, Churchill offer good coverage and were very efficient at dealing with my one claim. Customer service can be hit and miss as with any call centre.

Churchill car insurance are well worth a look, since I have had no real problems with their service, but the price will always be a key factor for me, and I suspect I could get cheaper next time in London.

The auto renewal is great in theory, but in practice it hasn't worked well. The idea is that they have your credit card details on file and automatically take the premium, and then send out the new certificate. If your renewal date and Car Tax date are the same, you don't have a current certificate to tax the car with. When I rang and asked them they said that they could send it in a few days for an extra £5 or it would be sent out about a week after renewal. Neither of this helped me, as I had to tax it quickly. I ended up cancelling what was an excellent policy and then going to a local broker to obtain a cover note. I understand that they don't issue the certificate until payment is taken, but I would have been willing to pay a few days earlier just to have that paper in my hand when I needed it.

Churchill car insurance are good, and the claims are dealt with efficiently and quickly, but they cut my No Claims Bonus to zero, even though it was protected!? In the end I gave up and went elsewhere.

Churchill's state in all advertisements they save you money. Not true I have made several phone calls and sent several letters at my own expense. To date they have not returned phone calls or replied to letters. In the letters I have only asked for an update on an 8 month old claim. I have also asked in a letter what is the complaints procedure and still await reply. I have used Churchill for many years but after this fiasco I will not use them anymore.

I put a claim in during May 2005. The third party have accepted responsibility but Churchill have,to date, failed to settle what is a straightforward claim. I sent several letters with no acknowledgments, and made phone calls. When I did eventually get a letter its contents were incorrect as confirmed by the person I spoke to at Churchill over the phone.

<br>I have written yet again and intend taking the matter further if the claim is not settled soon.
