Good Points: Mainly easy to deal with especially of course if the fault is the other persons! - if you go with their approved garage (a suzuki dealership in my case).
Bad Points: If you want to go with your garage they will insist on an engineer coming to inspect the vehicle before allowing the repair to go ahead. In my case I had to phone Birmingham to arrange the visit myself, they told me they were no longer dealing with my postcode and told me to ring Croydon, who told me to ring Birmingham. At least I managed to convince them I already had. I arranged a date for one week from today. So I have to wait for one week with no further progress and then who knows how long before they give the go ahead for the repair. Longer than I have had the car!
General comments: I have been with Churchill car insurance for about 10 years - always looking for other quotes each year. They are not the cheapest but only by a few pounds. I had two claims about 10 years ago in my first year with them. One for vandalism and another for a hit and run on my parked car. That time they were excellent. This time my parked car was hit by someone reversing out of a parking place. They have admitted fault and their company AXA is paying for the claim, but they are punishing me for wanting to take it to my garage, after all I only had the car a week before it got clobbered!

I have used VW accident management service. It might be that this was the reason why everything went so smoothly. Overall I am really happy with the way Churchill dealt with my claim.

My car was involved in an accident on May 23 2008. It was not my fault and the owner of the other vehicle has admitted liability. It took two seperate engineers to write the car off. I have been promised a cheque twice each time coming out by first class post as of 7th July 2008 it has not arrived yet. There must an official complaints procedure I can go through because this is absolutely disgusting their service is an absolute disgrace.
I will NEVER use Churchill insurance again and I will acti ...

I have had a motor policy with Churchill there have been two claims on the motor policy both of which have been dealt with in the most inept fashion possible to the point i would actually consider setting fire to my car and driving it through the reception of the claims office just out of desperation. They have effectively written off my old banger because someone has damaged the doors, now VOSA want a vehicle test carried out and a full engineers report the cars worth about £300. When I ...

Haven't needed to claim yet but Churchill Car Insurance are very easy to deal with, quick with documentation especially when needing free inclusive cover for a courtesy car when your car is being serviced at a garage [not to be confused with a repair as part of a claim.] Some companies especially internet only based ones do not offer this facility.

So far Churchill Car Insurance have taken 3 months to payout on my claim, they've tried all excuses and have told me 4/5 times they're processing the cheque and each time it never arrives, they're rude and I now feel constantly pass the buck.

Have used Churchill Car Insurance for several years for both car and home insurance. First claim was 3 weeks ago, on a Monday morning, when a plonker in an old Escort pulled out of a side road and smashed into the side of my wife's car. No injuries, thank goodness but practically wrote the front end of my wife's C3 off. Plonker tried to deny it was his fault (whose fault did he think it was then?!) so I envisaged that we would be in for a lengthy argument with his insurance company (CIS Co-Op ...

I have had to make a claim via Churchill after my car keys were stolen during a break-in at home. A Churchill Line Manager over-ruled two of his employees and insisted I pay a £400 excess to get my car keys changed, even though TWICE they had said it was only £100. I found Churchill (when I eventually got through) rude, insensitive and patronising to put it mildly. They ought to be ashamed of themselves in terms of customer service.

I've had two claims with Churchill neither my fault I had someone run into the back of me twice. The first time I though it was just an unlucky experience that Churchill forgot to call me back and that I had to take my car to and from the garage it was being repaired at and that they forgot to valet it as I was told and that I didn't have a courtesy car.
The second time was just as bad and when I emailed them to complain about I had to always contact them and they just passed the book every t ...

Claim was in January only now going through (August). Customer services at Churchill can be a bit unhelpful at times and I was often passed from pillar-to-post until I could get a decent answer - some even argumentative and rude in the way they answer you - as they think they are right (isn't it the customer is always right!?!?!). Wouldn't insure with them again - caused me more problems than the worth of it.

I had an accident in May 2005 and the claim is STILL outstanding! I had a minor head-on down a country lane and the other party who had only past their test a week before admitted liability and and even wrote this down for me. Norwich Union disputed this but Churchill advised me to hold out on the claim. Over the past two years I have been trying to close the case but have failed dismally. I have had problems from day one. I was initially told to fight, after reporting the accident I was to ...

Even writing to the claims manager to make a complaint, a reply comes back totally disregarding everything you say.
I can't think of strong enough but polite enough words to convey how unhelpful Churchill car insurance are.
