be careful their software is dated and when you try to cancel they will not let you unless you do so within a 90 day window. So far they will not even discuss and I no longer have access to the software. So they wish paid for something they wont give me access to !

I switched to Taxcalc several years ago. IRIS is four times the price, unreliable, 20 minute calls to software support- that is if they pick up the phone. Never neede software support with Taxcalc.

Was enticed to try Iris by the offer of support, got no support when experienced issues, passed around and then left on hold for 20+ minutes before being disconnected multiple times. Absolutely disgusted.

The software is great ( I use accounts and payroll) but try and call the help desk.... The last 4 times I have called I have been on hold more than 40 minutes prior to answer( the last time I started at 3 rd in the queue and was 46 minutes). You can then feel a bit rushed by the call handler! Apparently loads is being done about the wait but nothing is changing. Please sort this out as the rest of what you do is good.

Every year we discover errors in the Personal Tax module. It seems that Iris doesn't employ anybody with even a basic understanding of income tax / self assessment. This year the software generates payments on account even where the balancing liability is less than £1000. An error reported over three years ago (the tax computation says that the tax credit on dividends is non-payable, rather than non-REpayable has still not been corrected). Iris very much follows the Microsoft "you beta test it, it's cheaper for us" model. Then there is no urgency to fix reported problems, if they fix it them at all! Taking into account the high costs of the service, the lack of understanding of personal tax/SA, the lack of checking/testing, and a reluctance to remedy any errors, I would strongly suggest looking elsewhere.

We use this software at our previous company, and I cannot say anything but positive comments. Although the integration was quite difficult first, as soon as we got to grips with the structure and process it actually helped speed up our entire financial processing system. There are many other companies out there that offer systems like this, but you have to be very careful which one you choose, so for anyone looking for a similar product but definitely recommend using these guys.

The integration between its Accounts Production, Business tax and Personal tax will save you a lot of time and increase your efficiency.
Price of the product is't exactly cheap but quality doesn't come without price.

Why would any accountant with a small practice use IRIS? The software is clunky and takes ages to download. You can get unlimited clients and CT returns on Taxcalc and BTC for a fraction of the price and their software is hassle free. The staff at IRIS are unpleasant. If you have one of multiple problems you end up on a phone for 20 minoutes before you have to hang up. Terrible company.
