Every DPD delivery seems to go wrong somehow, followed by multiple failed redeliveries. I would try to avoid companies that use DPD to deliver your goods - when you get a good deal you'll have to add in the cost of hours of your time sorting it out, and forget it if you need it by a certain time. Every time I have something delivered and I find out its DPD I know it will spoil my day. When I order on line I just hope its not DPD. I use Amazon less and specify Post when I can. On one occassion it was such a mess that I just went out and bought what I wanted from the shops - it was easier than having it delvered by dpd. Amazon also gave me my money back. Their delivery was totally pathetic, it was expected to arrive between 1221-1321. My wife specifically took an annual leave to stay at home and had been using the online tracking system to monitor the delivery for the whole morning. My wife saw no DPD van and no one pressed the door bell. At 1313, all at a sudden, the online system said the order cannot be delivered because no one there to sign it. I have ordered on ebay couple of things, which were delivered with DPD. They missed me the first time. But I was at home!!! The next time I was sitting in my living room waiting for them at the time when they sould come. I was waiting too long and when I went outside to check I found the card that they missed me again!!! Having received terrible service from another courier and reading some of the reviews about DPD I was worried that my parcel would not arrive. Received an email allocating a two hour delivery window. The package did not arrive, no calling card was left and there was no phone to let me know it would not be delivered. Whenever anything gets delivered by DPD I receive an email telling me the time that it will arrive and it is always bang on time. This is really useful as it allows me to plan my day around the delivery rather than sitting in the whole day waiting for it. I have always found them really good. (read more)

I am used to DPD giving 3 chances for delivery & text options or Royal Mail leaving in a safe place. I forgot to place my card outside on the second try and ended up having to drive to Eastleigh, at least a 30 min journey on my son's birthday. Very disappointing. Like several other people have pointed out the text times are not at all dependable. I paid for express delivery, provided two contact numbers and additional directions. Recently I had at least 3 attempted delivery outside of my knowledge because DPD staff failed to leave a calling card after visiting, and the items were eventually returned to senders. DPD is the only company that consistently failed to enter the building and leave me a calling card when I am not at home. My mum has sent me parcels from abroad before and they would always be delivered just fine and usually on time. However, my last experience with DPD was absolutely ridiculous. She sent me a rather big parcel (about 30kg which is their limit, I believe) around Christmas time. “Unreliable text system”

Do not trust their automated text system. I was expecting two different parcels with different delivery addresses. I received the delivery notification for the first at 12.21 to which I replied with a change of date. I received the notification for second at 16.47 and I never replied with any change. But DPD modified both my deliveries, even though they were completely different addresses!!!!! How can a courier service function like this?? (read more)

I got an automated text message yesterday (4th April) from DPD UK Parcel Delivery telling me that my parcel would be delivered today. I waited in all day. When 4 o'clock came and nothing had arrived, I tried to contact DPD. They are uncontactable! I phoned the number on the website and was dealt with by an automated phone message which just hangs on you up if none of the limited options apply to your situation. I have met some less than smart delivery people in my 50+ years, but this one takes the cake. Firstly you must understand that everything is computerised with DPD. You cannot speak to a human being. Parcel sent two days ago via premium next-day delivery. We've got SMS this morning, delivery expected by 10:25, and been waiting all day. It's now 5pm and no delivery was attempted. Haha. Sorry i am not laughing at you. I am laughing because the exact samething happened to me today. They text me a delivery time at 12 for 15.23-16.23 so i stay home all day just incase their driver is a bit early. And around half 6 i track the parcel on the website, n it says unable to deliver, no one at premises. I am raging too. Rearranged a delivery slot for tomorrow, see what happens.
Oh and just to let you know, i paid 6 pounds for delivery so it was meant to be a 24 hour premium service. Good luck with yours!

They were supposed to deliver a very important package today 28 of March 2013 between 18:52 and 19:52 so I stayed at the delivery address until 8pm and no one came to deliver the parcel. At 8 pm I received an email saying that they tried to deliver the order however there was no one available to sign for the order at the address. I dont know why this company is still in business? The internet is filled with hate mail against them due to their incompetent service (should i even call it service?). I believe the seller is at fault because they are choosing DPD over other more capable courier services, perhaps because they charge less than others i am not sure. But we should start to take this up with the sellers and demand premium delivery charge back so hopefully they stop using such companies to deliver our parcels!

I hate DPD. they are so useless. So many times i have used them and i never receive my items. I ordered a New York pass for my holidays and they delivered it to an address in another county. Ordered shoes and they were too bloody lazy to call me or deliver them to me and returned them to the seller. Many items have been delivered late or lost. Oh n i thought it was a one off that the driver not only sent me the wrong delivery time, he didnt even ring a bell or leave any missed delivery card, and sent an email saying we tried to deliver but couldnt as there was no one at home. Was told I would receive my parcel between 10-11am. By 11.20 nothing had arrived. Rang DPD - got the non helpful automated service saying delivery had been attempted and no-one was in and a card had been left. Well I WAS in. And the card is obviously of the invisible variety as one hasn't been left. Same thing here buddy. In my case they seller contacted them and found out that the main entrance into the flats/buildings was locked. So i asked the seller to ask him how long the driver has been in this job? And has he ever delivered to any flats in his life before? Coz most of them are securely locked and you have to press the flat number to access the building... What a stupid excuse! Oh and there wasnt a calling card left even though at first they insisted there was one, but then admitted that the driver couldnt get into the building so he didnt leave one.

Lol. For me the driver didnt even bother getting out of the van. Or driving into our parking lot. All he did was sat in the van somewhere near my postcode, and hit 'unable to deliver, no one at premises' on his PDA while he probably ate his sandwich and drank irn bru.

My friends daughter is currently being treated in hospital for her third bout of cancer. I received a text from her saying she was cold as her heating in her room was broken and couldn't sleep. Added to this, she is having serious side effects and generally feeling quite low. Paid extra for Saturday delivery. Waited in all morning. Delivery time passed and I got an email saying DPD driver had attempted to deliver but I wasn't in. I sympathise with you mate. The worst part is they dont stick to their time slots so you have to allow an hour either side of ur scheduled delivery slot just to make sure that u dont miss ur parcel. In your case yes u r lucky that they sent him back, because for me they simply said go online and rearrange a delivery time. And the earliest is for tomorrow. So fingers crossed they dont send the same monkey with my parcel because he doesnt know how to get into flats (press the flat number, wait for an answer)
