“Glad I found my loan”

Written on: 09/06/2013

At first I thought that i was just applying for a loan through my loan and not a broker. I'd been looking for about 3 weeks trying to get a loan so that I could get my car fixed (again) and because i had bad credit from other loans in the past i wasnt getting anywhere. Although I was a bit annoyed at first that id applied to a broker i actually found that they were pritty good - like i only have to enter my details once (unless i need to change anything) and then i can apply as many times... People can apply to Amigo directly for a loan, for free. Anyone can get a copy of their credit reports for free from all 3 major agencies, not just one.
Its also very important to mention that My Loan boast of over 60 loan companies they have access to. Most of those companies will search your credit report, leaving a lot of what are called footprints, all over your credit files, thus making it even more difficult to obtain credit, as it makes you look like you are desperate for a loan.
Google autofil will help you fill in forms with your current details, saving form filling.
I can put most people here directly in touch with a PDL provider for free. I would also go as far as to say the above review is about as genuine as a £7 note.

my partner has had the same problem with a outfit called MY LOAN they took £69.99 from her bank, ( even though they are loan brokers not loan lenders ) the following day they took £1.00 then £17.00 after asking the bank for details of these two payments was informed they were for film hire, ? my partner has been advised by her bank to cancel the card ( and all the problems this will effect direct debits and so on ) my loans say 30 days to refund payment after this time had elapsed were told the payment went into bank but will take five days to clear. watch this space please advise any and all persons to avoid this uk based company.

Most people do. Sad to say that companies like this are adept at hiding this charge with head lines such as "Enter your card details here to confirm your loan" Deliberately misleading. It also makes statements such as "This amount will be debited from your loan account within 30 days" . This gives the impression that the "minimal fee" they are charging will be incorporated in the final loan amount. After all if they stated the plain truth ie: " We will debit £70 from your bank account immediately, regardless of whether or not enough money is in your account ( we know the chances are small otherwise why would you be looking for a expensive short term microloan) and we have not yet began searching for your loan product yet. Who would sign up to that? No-one so they find barely legal ways of hiding this. Dispicable behavior. Everyone should formally complain to the FSA and not give up till their money is returned. Dont forget to charge 8% interest and insist they compensate you for any other loss arising from their misselling.

The bottom line in charging them interest and making them liable for your financial losses resulting from their actions lies in proving Misselling.
What people need to remember is that the T&C`s are NOT LAW so therefore can be challenged.
The FSA is the Financial Services Authority, its worth reporting MyLoan to them if only to make up the number of complaints. Its the OFT, the Office of Fair Trading that are your friend here.
I am in the process of putting together a pack/tool kit which will assist people dealing with these people. But in the meantime i would strongly suggest 2 courses of action that everyone should take. 1: record any phone calls. I have done this by taking calls on my house phone and recording them on my mobile. You do not have to tell them you are recording them and if they behave they have nothing to worry about. My experience is they become abusive, make sure you record it.
2: Make an account on the consumer action group, its free. They have an entire section on Payday loan sharks and how to deal with them. I dont know if they have PM facilities on this site, if they do drop me a PM.

I stupidly entered my details in to a broker site by mistake. They then took the 69.99 out of my account, even though I had no direct dealings with them. Note everybody - NEVER USE A BROKER for a payday loan. For those of you who fell victim. Dispute the transaction through your bank. What this outfit have done is deliberately mislead you. Contact the company and ask for a refund form, it has to be given within 30 days. Also any financial inconvenience you have suffered from their actions should be compensated. Dont give up. report them to the OFT and the FSA. The more people who do it, the better the chances of getting these sharks stopped. I am currently legally looking into filing a en masse complaint about this broker and others similar. There has been a think tank somewhere paid silly amounts of money to dream up ways of legally misrepresenting the costs and how to make them practically unnoticeable to the customer. Nobody likes to be made to feel an idiot and when the customer see`s a much needed sum of money leave their accounts for no reason, its not unreasonable to assume they are upset and feel daft. So they contact the company who says rubbish like " you too stupid to read the Ts&Cs? Customer feels too silly to contact their banks and other agencies that could help, Brokers gets away with it. What you need to do is phone them up and say you wish to cancel the membership they have gave you and want a refund ask for the cancel form to be sent to your email fill it out email them back and ask they send email saying you are getting your refund. There is a 14 day cooling off period so if you cancel it within that time you will get the 69.99 in full but if it isn't then you will get 64.99 which by law they are allowed to keep 5 pound. You will get a refund by either putting money back in your account or by cheque within 30 days. Hope this helps.

I filled the form on the website and got a reply after 2 days. She was quite helpful and answerd my emails always in maximum 24 hours. I did write them another email before the 30 days finished to remind them they have to pay up . All together exchanged about 5 emails.
Try getting in contact with them, I think she's the only nice person in that company . Hope this helps especially the lady with the 9 month old baby .

I was looking this site last month when I was having money troubles. I filled out the form but didn't click submit it. I looked at my bank a few days later and found that they had taken 1 pound out of my bank and as I didn't submit my bank details I was trying to work out how they got my details. After 10 minutes I realised(I'm a programmer) that they had used javascript to capture the keystrokes and send the information back to the head office. Anyway, I emailed and complained and my... I have today had #69.99 taken from my bank account by Myloan. Phone them and request a Loan Cancellation and Refund form
They will email this to you.
You can type onto it after clicking Reply in your email Inbox page.
It's a simple though poorly designed e-form type correspondence.
You are legally entitled under UK credit law to a refund of your money if you cancelled with My Loans within 14 days of "joining".
I put the latter in quotes as I have had the same experience as you.
Also you must not have used any lenders through My Loan.
Hope this helps!

I applied for a loan and got directed to MyLoan. It asks for your personal details and that is so that they can match you with a lender. It then asks for your bank card and details for 'a payment' which then gets taken straight away and then you're left with no customer service, no one answering there phone just a recorded message. The £69.99 application charge is stated in their T&Cs, which I guessing you didn't read fully when you agreed to them. I made the same mistake and only found out when my account was £69.99 lighter. I called them, played dumb, and made out I knew nothing about any loan application. I also demanded information like the applicants IP address "so I could take it to the police". They refunded the £69.99 back into my account straight away. I was lucky and got it back. They don't commit fraud at MyLoan, they just bury important information in the T&Cs knowing most people won't read it. Good luck in getting your money back, although I honestly don't think you will. :(

Hi Dobbinhorse,

I accept that people applying on the myloan website directly will be aware of the £69.99 charge,as it is clearly displayed, so therefore cannot complain.

However, many of the other reviewers on this site,(myself included) did not apply directly with myloan..
In my case, I applied through a loan broker for a payday loan for £100.

I was told on the brokers website that I was accepted and that they needed my card and bank details for ID purposes and also for the loan to be paid.
There was no mention on the broker website that the company was myloan or that a charge would apply.

The first I knew about it was when I tried to get some money from my account, only to find a charge of £69.99 paid to myloan.
Up until this point, I had never even heard of myloan.
Also, why would anyone pay 69.99 for a £100 loan !!

It is the sneaky way this company do it that I have a problem with.
Obviously the broker and myloan are connected in some way, as it appears to have happened to many others.
Mine does not seem to be an isolated incident.

At the moment, there are about 75 reviews on here which all say the same thing......
WE WERE CONNED BY MYLOAN !!!

Avoid going to the company that took your money for a refund as they will make you wait to the extent of you giving up on them.Contact your banks fraud team and get them on the case. If you didn't send the company who took your money your details and authorisation, the fraud team should get your money back. There seem to be a lot of people that don't get their money back which is awful so I guess I'm one of the lucky ones who acted on it straight away.

This company use underhand methods to take your money..

When they ripped me off, I had not even been anywhere near myloan website.

I had used a broker who said they could provide me with a loan and they needed m card details to verify my identity.

There was no mention of any fees.

Foolishly I entered them and the next thing I knew was a text from myloan to say they had taken £69.99

I got back £64.99 as they said they were entitled to £5.00 cancellation fee, even though I did not knowingly sign up for their services.

When I rang for my refund, I asked the arrogant woman on the phone what I would have got for my £69.99 and she reeled off names of about six companies they had supposedly referred me to.

ALL THE COMPANIES SHE MENTIONED WERE FREE FOR ANYONE WHO GOOGLED THEM!!!!!
