From the initial quote discussion to the final invoice great service from Eco Movers. On the day updates from the office on arrival time (we booked flexible time), the guys were friendly, quick and efficient at loading the van managing to fit in all the extra bits I wanted moved. We moved in august this year and whilst the two guys worked none stop and where very good, they did break our tv. The estimated time was not exact and I spent £30.00 on parking permit tickets. When dealing with the general manager regarding our tv and varies other issues he hide behing his policies and procedures, therefore being very partonising and not forgiving of the issues I was not satisfied with. We booked late in the day,; had to change the date ven nearer the time; we had far more stuff than we'd realised in the loft; and we had loads of book boxes. Mover guys worked very very hard and efficiently although a couple of slightly clumsy moments. They did overall pretty well and get an A+ for effort. Where I was annoyed was on the admin. I asked for 3 guys but they delivered 2. They also overcharged significantly and I had to call to correct them. The 2 removals guys were very patient while I decided where I wanted to place the cross trainer and didn't mind me changing my mind. We did a double move with Eco Movers, first from our old flat to their storage, and then from their storage to our new flat. To start off we were given poor advice in planning our move. First we were advised to use two trucks rather than one, which we agreed to. Then the day before the move we were advised that one truck would be sufficient - I now suspect they needed the second truck for another job. We are really very sorry that you were unhappy with your move and the events following it.
However, as you can see from previous reviews across the internet, we have a justified reputation for providing excellent service at competitive prices and we have not achieved this through treating our customers unfairly or through being incompetent at what we do.
We originally proposed a “two van two crew move” because this was what was required to do the job in one journey. Instead you were happy to do the move with one van given the opportunity to save money. We advised you that with only one van this would almost certainly involve more than one trip but to help you cut costs we agreed to go ahead with one van and in addition to absorb the cost of travel time if more than one trip was needed. This generous offer by us saved you money but the move of course took longer than if we had used two vans. We were still very happy to offer you a two van service. This was your decision, it was not a failing on our part.
As regards your complaint about the insurance excess, because even with the best operatives and packing materials moving is a risky business, we offer our valued customers a range of insurance options. We provide free of charge insurance for any loss or damage over £500 or, for only £50 more, provide comprehensive cover for loss or damage over £50. This was not buried in the small print as you suggest. You signed the insurance instruction stating in full size type and clear as day “I understand that in the event of a claim against you in respect of the work, I am responsible for the first £500”. We are an ethical company that offers a fair deal at a fair price and always makes the terms clear and straightforward.
In summary, we told you clearly in advance that more than one trip would probably be involved and that in the event of loss or damage you would be responsible for the first £500. You could have paid a little more to avoid these risks but chose instead to save the cost and take the risks. In all fairness it is, at best, unfair of you to now complain at the two trips and the £500 excess.
Nevertheless we are grateful to you for your feedback and in the interests of goodwill, we would like to offer a you 25% discount on your next move with us. Clarity is at the heart of our customer service goals and we have worked very hard to be as transparent as possible regarding how we operate. To this end our terms have been ratified by the Office of Fair Trading.
As with all British Association of Removers (BAR) registered moving companies, we do have very clearly defined policies and procedures. We would not be able to deliver a consistent service without them. We did explain verbally before accepting your booking and in our confirmation email, on the PDA handset which you signed prior to our crew commencing work and in our terms and conditions that you were responsible for arranging parking.
We estimated that your move would take 9.08 hours. You did accept that this was an estimated price and not a fixed price quotation which we would happily have provided following a site survey. In reality your move took 9 hours and 30 minutes. I am sorry that you felt that 22 minutes was such an unacceptable variance on the estimate. Within our industry a variance of 3% is considered very accurate.
