“STAY CLEAR OF INSURE.COM.”

★☆☆☆☆

written by Longbc324 on 16/06/2023

STAY CLEAR OF THIS MOB INSURE.COM. They happily take your money but if you dare to make a claim they ship you on to another organisation REACTIVE CLAIMS set up to blatantly stonewall you and fight every penny of any claim. They are absolute sham merchants in every sense. In the summer of last year my wife and I booked our honeymoon (flights in and out of Scandinavia and hotels in various cities with train journeys between there selected cities). I mistakenly used INSURE.COM as my insurance provider for this 2 week trip. 3 DAYS prior to our honeymoon I was hospitalised with an abscess and when I came out of hospital the wound required dressing every day for around a month, longer than the period of the planned honeymoon. Prior to hospitalisation we managed to cancel what we could. Hotels in 3 or the 4 cities we planned to visit, but the flights into Copenhagen and out of Bergan, the hotel in Copenhagen for 3 night and the train journeys between the 4 cities had already been paid for in advance and therefore none refundable. This a shortfall of around £1300 which I wrongly assumed that the insurance would cover! I managed to obtain a statement from Ryanair saying our flights out to Copenhagen were not used and also from the hotel in Copenhagen saying that our booking though paid for was never used. A big thank you to these 2 organisations. But REACTIVE CLAIMS say they will not pay out because I cannot obtain a statement from the Scandinavian Rail Company or Norwegian Air to say that the pre-booked tickets were not used by someone else! Obviously we didn’t travel during this period of ill health and we don’t know anyone in Denmark, Sweden or Norway to give these tickets to. My recommendation to anyone reading this is to use a known reputable insurance provider and certainly not these jokers.

Their paperwork and statement requests are unreasonable, you only need to provide reasonable documentation. You have made a valid claim it is for them to deal with this end. You need to make a complaint in writing and take it to the Financial Ombudsman - Insurance.

“Total waste of time and money”

★☆☆☆☆

written by on 13/02/2023

The worst insurance experience I've ever had. Bought travel insurance for a family trip to Spain. Few days before we were due to go my son got beaten up, ended up on hospital in a very bad way and we had to cancel. I managed to cancel the apartment and some elements of the trip but I was still around £500 out of pocket so I put in a claim. The claim goes through a company called Reactive. Everything is SLOW... massive forms, repeated requests for the same bits of paper. I provided everything they asked for - emails from the hotel, hospital forms etc etc. They insisted I provide a no-fly letter from Ryanair (even though they had ample proof that we had not made the trip). This proved to be nigh on impossible to get hold of... it took me hours of messages and waiting on hold and almost a year! Eventually I got it, sent it in. I then got an email telling me they would not pay out on my claim - because the excess is £195 per person, kids included, so the excess is more than the claim!!! So maybe this is in part my bad - I should have read the policy more carefully, but I had read it and had read it as £195 per adult. But WHY oh WHY not check this excess before they insist I fill in reams of forms? Before I spend hours chasing and sending bits of paperwork? Keep in mind they know my son has just come out of hospital with a serious head injury... all they cared about was asking me for yet another bit of paperwork (hospital discharge form, letter from GP... Why put a parent through that for nothing?) This travel insurance has cost me so many hours, a ton of frustration, and was beyond worthless. Please don't use this company - if you actually have to claim it's just not worth it.

“Unable to contact”

★☆☆☆☆

written by on 17/08/2022

Have tried to contact this company 8 times by phone, once by chat and 2 emails, to make an amendment to my travel insurance. I have had no reply to my emails and just cannot get through the phone lines. It makes me think that if I did want to make a claim in the future it would be near impossible. Customer service non- existent.

“Awful company never answer phones ”

★☆☆☆☆

written by Beyondfedup on 04/08/2022

Have been trying to get in touch with this company for a month. Have tried phone calls you are left hanging on for hours, our age life is too short to be holding on too long! Try emails, they come back saying we can only talk to the account holder, I am the account holder. Then they say not the right email address! Oh come on. We can’t discuss this in an email you need to phone, you don’t answer the phone you email, we are extremely busy they say but we do answer. Just don’t even bother with this company. They are cheaper for a reason I now know what that is they don’t employ anyone and I seriously doubt if I had a problem they would not cover me or even answer the phone! AVOID

“Adding cruise policy onto my excising policy”

★☆☆☆☆

written by bzMiller289 on 28/07/2022

I want to add criuse insurance on to my existing policy tried to ring them for 4 days a different time of day can’t get through just saying they know I am on the line. Went on the Chat and they said they would try and get someone to ring me if they can, still haven’t heard anything. It is absolutely disgusting. Would not recommend anyone to take out insurance with this company. Need to ring me as I have spent a lot of time and money as I think it is a premium rate when you ring.

“Avoid like the Coronavirus!”

★☆☆☆☆

written by Akirav354 on 20/04/2020

I took out an annual premier policy last summer with the winter sports upgrade, they did not cover the Coronavrius and were so rude on the phone. I would honestly never do business with this company ever again. They have so many specified clauses that ensure you do not get your money back.

“Worst insurance ever”

★☆☆☆☆

written by Jovani115 on 14/03/2020

I discovered today that my Insurefor Annual Premier policy does not cover me for losses incurred as a result of Coronavirus and flight cancellations. Whilst Ryanair have done the right thing and refunded flight costs in full on the back of Foreign Office advice not to fly, Insurefor have washed their hands of the problem. The policy clearly says that if the Foreign Office advises against travel then the policy is not valid for those who travel. However, if a policyholder adheres to this advice, Insurefor will not refund any costs incurred as a result of cancelling. This strikes me as immoral. I have used this company for a number of years but this will now stop. Fat cats at their worse and I am embarrassed to think that I fell it. I am lucky that I have lots of friends across the UK to share this disgraceful behaviour with.

“Waste of time Company”

★☆☆☆☆

written by thewrongtrousers on 11/03/2020

So I'm waiting to be seen by the physio for what is thought to be a slight muscle strain. But because it is supposedly undiagnosed they won't cover me? Would sound hilarious if it wasn't true. Just to clarify, in case you think 'well it could be something serious, and they are just covering themselves'. I rang several other companies e.g. Aviva who said that something like that they wouldn't even bother to put on an exemption list it was so minor.

“change start date”

I setup a annual travel policy for my wife who is deaf. I spoke to an agent explained my wife was deaf and that need to change the policy start date. The agent couldn't have been any more obstructive. At one point saying your wife will have to speak to the agent on phone. Would recommend giving this company a wide birth.

“DONT BOTHER”

written by Joey108 on 20/04/2016

We tried to claim on our multi trip travel insurance after my wife had her handbag snatched in teneriffe. It took them 5 months to sort a claim for less than 200 pounds, it was as if they did not believe we had been abroad even though we had letters form police etc. Save your money and get travel insurance of somebody else, as they are a waste of time and money.

“Any excuse not to pay a claim”

★☆☆☆☆

written by MaeveBerry on 26/02/2015

Had to cancel a holiday due to family illness. This poor excuse for a company then pulled out every trick and excuse they could not to have to pay out- including finding definitions off the internet to counter the claim submitting (as they couldn't find anything suitable in their own T&C's)- however, when presented with a definition of the same word found on the internet which supported the claim, it wasn't accepted. A letter from a medical professional was also submitted to support the claim that we needed to stay at home, but this was also rejected as not relevant. The wording of their claim rejection was pretty appalling and insulting- totally dismissive and defensive from the very first contact, with a definite tone that they've had your money and anyone submitting a claim is just being awkward or trying to fleece them. With so much competition in this market, don't even consider this shoddy company- you'd be better off buying a lottery ticket with the money as the odds of getting anything out of this lot if anything goes wrong are higher than any lottery.

“WANING RIP OFF COMPANY”

★☆☆☆☆

written by rebeccafox32 on 22/05/2013

I am beginning to ever regret using this poor excuse that does a very bad impression as an Insurance company??????? I took out the Premium Cover with extra gadget cover for an iphone 4, camera and ipad I was taking. The policy says it covers £2000 personal possessions so I paid the Premium as I wear a ceramic Armani watch and my fiance a Rolex and have sunglasses worth over £150 each so obviously thought it would be advisable should I need to make a claim rather than economy which over covers £500. I had an accident and drop the contents of my beach bag when the strap broke in our hotel room and being a tiled floor the iphone cracked, my ceramic watch shattered and sunglasses and camera scratched and bent. I contacted them immediately upon return 18th March 2013 and they said to fill out claims forms, I then got sent a letter to say two different companies would be dealing with it one for gadgets and one for insurance company??????? Filled in more forms and sent receipts for all items to two different address both costing £6.90 registered post, they took the excess out for gadgets that day of sending email telling me where to send my phone of £30 then sent my camera and iphone off registered again at £6.95. The other company wanted repair estimates to say the watch and sunglasses repair or to say beyond economical repair, I did this and sent off registered again. They have now come back with an offer of £250 for my £450 watch with receipt and £120 sunglasses and have taken £70 excess from me. So after taking the insurance out and paying the excesses and the registered postage each time I am left with £50.25 from the whole claim and have been endlessly contacting about my iphone and camera. They can't locate my phone and have said my camera is beyond economical repair but have not done anything still to this day. I have called and called and I'm still left with no phone and camera and can't replace my watch and sunglasses with £50.25. Absolute disgrace of a company and will be taken legal action against them........... WARNING DO NOT USE THEM

“Don't claim on a Sunday”

★☆☆☆☆

written by on 21/02/2013

My wife needed medical treatment while in the US, the "24 hour medical emergency" number was phoned, very nice gentlemen took all my detail and even phoned me back for more details and said that someone would call me in the morning (United Kindom time). No-one did phone me and when I phoned them they told me they could not confirm that I was covered on my insurance as insurefor.com wasn't open on a Sunday and what did I expect taking out insurance over the Internet!

“not value for money”

★☆☆☆☆

written by on 16/02/2013

You have to be very careful and read every word from the policy and they will still find the way how not to pay the money back. I made a claim at the end of July 2012 and have not received an answer till today (10 Dec 12) but they were quick to renew the travell insurance and took the money from my account today. When I called and asked about my claim they said they had sent it (I have not received anything). I asked for the copy send via email and learnt that I am getting £10 instead of £330 for the travel tickets! I could not fly because of my high risk pregnancy. I paid £17 to GP for the confirmation about my medical state and £20 to the airline for their letter of confirmation of cancellation of the flight. So basically, I have paid £27 on top of my travel tickets! It looks like the company is very quick to take your money but when it comes to paying something back you are left with almost nothing or even less.

“Waste of money!”

written by bogon on 09/10/2012

I would never insure with you again after being ripped off by your small print and sneaky underhand tactics. Had to cancel my holiday in September 2012 as surgery was needed to remove Lymph Nodes under my Left Arm after being diagnosed with stage 3 Malignant Melanoma in August 2012 This condition was as yet undiagnosed when I took out my policy in May 2012. Because I had initially consulted the doctor about this as yet undiagnosed condition (which he thought was an infection) at the end of April 2012 my claim was denied. Total loss £900. Thanks for kicking a man when he is down!

“Full of holes and exclusions ”

★☆☆☆☆

written by on 30/09/2012

A simple dental claim you would expect would be quick and easy. Send Receipt /proof of payment calculate the claim less the excess money by return - oh no... not so with Insurefor.com. The information they require mostly irrelevant means that the process takes for ever. The whole claim process is so intensive and frustrating that it seems to me that it is designed to make most people give up . I didn't I filled in the claim form ( the first part of the form is mainly asking for bank details and seeking other potential areas where they will try and pass the buck.) Amazingly they wrote back and wanted the name of my bank account- why because some banks offer insurance. (the claim was for the grand sum total of £78! The hardest £78 i have ever come by . I would not like to be making a claim for something serious with this firm . Frankly I question whether holiday insurance is worth it at all. Insurance companies in general need a dose of the treatment Banks are getting currently which is investigation into poor terms / sharp practice poor value ,hidden terms exclusions etc. Maybe they will be all squeeky clean but I doubt it? That's my view

“a fabulous service”

★★★★★

written by samanthabagshaw1 on 10/09/2012

I was phoning insurefor.com on behalf of my daughter who was on holiday in Bulgaria. The gentleman who helped me was called Nas and I couldnt thank him enough , he was professional , he put my mind at ease , he went beyond his job role by phoning my daughter in Bulgaria and putting her mind at ease. He then phoned up at the end of his working day telling me that he was happy that everything was sorted out and my daughter could enjoy the rest of her holiday. It was refeshing to be helped by someone that is genuine in wanting to help their customers , rather than as in many insurance companies where you receive little help but they are quick to take your money. My daughter found this company on the internet and bnought it as they charged a fee that she could afford to pay , however this has tauhgt me that it is not always the amount you pay that detemines the kind of service you wil get.
