“Very sneaky pitch! Beware and avoid.”

I was contacted by a well spoken man, initially saying he was calling from the "government environment network", following this with "Big Green Book". He went on to tell me how this "not-for-profit", "non-advertising" company would pass me work from their clients in my area, as they are linked to a bunch of environmental schemes. “AVOID! AVOID!”

I got tricked into spending £900. The person who called me was an extremely clever salesman, he managed to trick me into parting with a huge lump of money just to be listed on their website. Once you pay them you cannot get a refund. They lied to get the money out of me and then denied they ever said what they said. (read more)

More than a monnt ago I was called by BigGreenBook sales person. She was really well trained I must admit. Did she tell me she is calling me to sell something? No! She said "Oh I love your portfolio, it's just amazing, you are unbelievable, would you like to work for us for next year? I didn't really know what is BigGreenBook, and I asked her to continue. Well, no, they didn't want my creative services, they asked me to take a subscribtion and "it will start working for you immediately!".... (read more)

I had the same trouble. Threatened with being sued if i did not pay, because agreed to work for them (which was a load of rubbish). 0 leads from their site. STAY CLEAR! BE WARNED! £200 Wasted!

Schmoozy pushy sales pitch. Ripped me off £250 for an annual membership to a website that lacked features which were promised like forums, networks etc. Very slow to respond to emails and I am still waiting for a response from the company. DO NOT BOTHER WITH THIS COMPANY UNLESS YOU WANT TO BE RIPPED OFF. (read more)

Think you'll find this is just a very bitter individual! Big green book are not a waste of money, they are very useful. Business can be made from this. They do not state that you WILL get work. As is with every sort of advert, it is like a lottery... you may win you may not! This is an opportunity for you to help others and others help you. The chances of getting work from this are a lot higher than getting work from Yell.com or Yellow Pages etc...

Each time I spoke with one of the employees at big green book I was always dealth with politely, efficiently and feel that I get real customer service. I have had a few minor problems with my own profile however these were sorted as soon as I made the staff aware of them and was even given really sound advice on how to make full use of the profile I bought. I have had my leaflets handed out at shows I couldn't get to myself, real value for money (read more)

“Very pushy sales people, untrustworthy and expensive”

I would not recommend these people at all. They say they have backing of some big clients and such, but when they phoning you, they are very very pushy sales people. They say they are a charity and have a donation suggestion of £600 to cover costs which is compulsory if you want their services. I dont thing any genuine charity does that! Nor am I aware of any charity that works like a profitable business. They dont keep in touch, they put you on their directory, but it doesn't generate any... (read more)

Well clearly you haven't actually spoke to biggreenbook... They do not do contracts, it is a membership. It is a not-for-profit organisation. It is not a charity at all. Yes the payments are compulsory for their services, but that is only if you want it and it is a one off fee. It is not £600 as standard. It can be £99 for a 12 month membership and the 12 month membership part is always mentioned!!! Clearly you did not recieve a call from them or even listened to them as you would have found this information out for yourself!! Do not criticise something you know nothing about....

"This position is for a Web designer to handle our online enquiries and direct leads for 12 months minimum for Web design in the Crewe area, we are are not for profit company and therefore I am not looking for a commercial relationship with this company however we do incur costs and appreciate if companies can put anything towards the maintenance and sustained growth of this system."
