I am the very distressed owner of an upright DC4 (I think) Dyson - I've had it for years now and I absoultely bloody HATE it!!! It's such a heavy cumbersome awful stupid thing to use. It gets me so stressed I've had to hire a cleaner to use it, but on occasion (like just now as you may have guessed!) I have to use it myself and I feel like throwing it off the cliffs of Dover by the end!! It is the most awkward thing to move about and getting it up and down the stairs, well I don't know how th ...

Owned purple/Silver Dyson DC04 til it died (7 years) Overpriced hype. The tools break. Can't used nozzle to get into small places as the handle gets in the way.
Its heavy... and the one bit of sturdy plastic on it, that seems to break everything else in contact with it, is the front trim around the brushes.
The hose breaks easily (I had 3 replacements)-
The stair tool breaks easily -
The mini suction brush breaks easily -
    The motor breaks ! -
The tools fall off the vacuum easily -

    I like ...

Fell for the hype and spent 4 times as much as needed on a Dyson DC04 vacuum that is terrible to use. The man who got such accolade for designing this obviously lived in a large open plan house. The attachments fall off at the slightest knock and are precariously balanced on the part that you have to take to the bin. The hose ends with a long straight fixed pipe and a large looped handle which makes it impossible to vacuum small gaps, furniture, behind furniture, or stair treads. The brushes ar ...

I'm having to part with my Dyson DC04 because it's just too heavy for me. We have 2 flights of stairs and lugging it up there to the top floor is no joke!

I've had my Dyson DC04 for near 10 years now and it just won't give up. Love it, like a faithful old friend it always brings the carpets up perfectly. Yes the handle has broken off but its had 10 years of hard slog this is hardly the end of the world. I just don't get why people are slating this vacumn. I had a miele for under year and it died on me, the customer service at miele told me to send it to them so I did only to have it returned 2 days later, unfixed and told it was beyond economical ...

I got my Dyson DC04 from a friend 3 years ago (ie; second hand) and it still works like a dream, or it did till my mum dropped it down the stairs and broke the handle! (it does still work though) I have 2 dogs so as you can imagine it gets a workout at least twice daily. It picks up great on both laminate & carpet, the hose reaches to the top of the stairs, and the attatchments are easily changed & close to hand. An all rounder, nothing fancy. Its been a solid reliable machine for me. ( oh and i ...

My Dyson DC04 is on the local council tip. I am fed up of paying out for new belts to be fitted. Web site says a proper repair man should refit, I think Dyson offer the service at some price. Unreliable vacuum cleaner.

Thus Dyson DC04 comes highly recommend! When you empty the plastic drum, just press the button. All the dust just drop out on the other end, great design! I had it for 3 years, never had a problem. I use it for vacuuming all wood chips, & fine dust, no problem at all.I never experience the what all those user had. The motor will only overheat if it caught some objects which prevent the brush going round!

The Dyson DC04 gets blocked easily.
    Rubber band keeps snapping.
Have to keep taking it apart to get it to stand up properly again.

Getting a Dyson DC04 was a very very expensive mistake. Every conventional vacuum cleaner I previously had was 5 times cheaper and far superior in every way. This heap of plastic is simply not fit for purpose. I would not even contemplate buying one.

The worst experience I have ever had in vacuuming! Not at all user friendly. I can't believe this was designed by a human! Very dissapointed. Would NOT buy this brand again.

This is the worst experience I have ever had in vacuming! Was this machine designed by a human for a human? Not very user friendly. Impossible to use on stairs without breaking your neck! Tools won't stay on when using. Worst buy ever! Will never buy this Brand again.

This is my second Dyson, so they must be doing something right! I gave my first one away to a friend as I was desperate to buy a newer model, you know how it is, I like a new toy now and then. I can honestly say that over the four years since I bought it, I have never had a problem, admittedly the hose has a hole at the top, but not a problem as I just squeeze it and then everything is good!

I took it round to my Aunt's house to help her with her cleaning the other day and she could not bel ...

We were given the Dyson DC04 vacuum cleaner as a present. The person buying it thought they were buying good quality, as it was a lot more expensive than most (in fact they bought one for themselves, and for someone else at the same time). It turned out not to be the case. In 26 years we have had 4 vacuum cleaners - this is not anywhere close to the others. For around a year it was fine (it is not used daily), and we followed the maintenance, such as washing out the filters etc, but now it w ...

This product is so bad in every way. I'm glad that they now build these rubbish products abroad, as now it won't have a British Made flag stuck it. Good luck Mr Dyson, your cleaners are rubbish!

PS. I thought he took production of the Dyson vacuum cleaner abroad for cheapness? Well, they are CHEAP, but they are getting very expensive!

In the five years that I have had this Dyson I have replaced the following parts - the wand, the hose, the clutch, the soleplate, the motor, the filter above the motor (which went black after the motor failed), the beater bar, the hose again, the motor again, the seal on the bit inside the plastic bin, the knob on top of the power switch (which admittedly I broke after trying to dismantle it) and...I think that's it.
If that wasn't enough it is now very noisy and seems to get heavier each time I ...

While the suction technology of this Dyson DC04 is basically sound, it has very little else going for it. The build quality is dreadful - it seems to be made of cheap plastic, so bits constantly fall off. Poor design and ill thought out practicalities cause constant breakages. The hose splits after no time at all. Belts break with alarming regularity and fitting a new one really needs two people. Then you have to re-fit the sole-plate...
The brush is not adjustable and is therefore useless o ...
