Written on: 18/07/2014 by Karter238 (1 review written)

Insured my Black Lab with VetsMediCover and was concerned about the ins and outs of pet insurance, however by using they're simple, easy to use website all was made very clear and my boy is now covered. I made one phone call to ensure everything was okay and the woman was very clear and helpful. Great website and affordable insurance! Thank-you!… Read Full Review

“Fantastic company! Excellent value & kind and helpful...”

Written on: 17/07/2014 by princessp1983 (1 review written)

I am really pleased with the service that VetsMediCover provide for my dog. I have got my Labrador Mia insured with them and I first took her policy out when she was a puppy. I chose the higher level of cover (vet's fees for up to £10,000) because I know how expensive vet bills can be due to my old dog having hip dysplasia. It is always best to plan for unexpected illness and so I would recommend that people take out the higher cover. Anyway when she was about 11 months old she became poorly… Read Full Review

“Pre-exisiting conditions”

Written on: 09/07/2014 by 275Bailey (1 review written)

Just enquired about pet insurance for my Beagle with VetsMediCover - he has a pre-existing condition and they can insure him. This has taken a huge weight off my shoulders and I cannot thank VetsMediCover enough. I started to book online (great, easy to use website) but thought I'd better call their office to ask about the pre-existing condition my boy has got. The girl I spoke to there was so helpful - I would recommend this company. I didn't think I could get insurance for my dog with his… Read Full Review

“FAN-BLOODY-TASTIC!”

Written on: 05/06/2014 by lilacgeorge (1 review written)

When I was looking for Insurance for my English Bull Terrier pup I went through all the big companies, they wanted silly money - PP wanted £85 a month!!! Then my brother mentioned Vets Medicover, his mate that had a EBT used them & said he throughly recommended them.... so I looked into it! I was very impressed with their policy cover & especially their premium. Son in February when my pup came home I took out a policy. All was well until last week.... Molly was, well, being a puppy and was… Read Full Review

“Common Sense Cover”

Written on: 16/04/2014 by HaydenMacKinnon342 (1 review written)

Finally some common sense! My golden Labrador suffered with eczema as a pup so the vet prescribed him with some anti inflammatory medicines that helped a bit but the problem persisted. Eventually we realised that Bruce was eating the wrong foods so we moved him over to a raw food diet and the problem cleared up. However, we haven't been able to cover him for eczema or anything that could relate to the problem, despite him not having suffered from this condition for over 3 years. When it came… Read Full Review

“Excellent and impressive...”

Written on: 20/02/2014

I was recently contacted by the insurer, asking about my claim experience with Mango, our three year old Golden Labrador. The claims payment was rapid, very easy and the customer service throughout was excellent. I'd like to make a point of mentioning that it's great value for money with a really impressive level of cover which I'm always wary about. Thank you VetsMediCare, would highly recommend in the future to friends and family. … Read Full Review

“Fair and efficient”

Written on: 19/02/2014 by Rottiesrule (1 review written)

I've had my Rottie with vets medi cover for several years now. With their past administrator everything was a fight but since they have changed to their new company I have found their service greatly improved. Properly qualified vet nurses now assess the claims and they seem fair and sensible. Claims are also paid in a reasonably timely manner of 2 to 3 weeks. If you have a very large claim with them they do put your premium up the next year but they advised me that if I didn't claim during… Read Full Review

Having had the right treatment our claims were met satisfactorily, apart from the excess and some minor expenses not included in the claim. We were disappointed that the annual insurance fee has gone up by 50%. We understand that vets' fees are causing this and wish you success with your negotiations, otherwise people will be obliged to find some cheaper arrangements… Read Full Review

We have had great service with this insurance company. Our dog was covered under a lifetime policy(would defiantly reccomend as our dog developed arthritis). They have paid out for everything we have claimed for, which unfortunately when our beloved dog Was very poorly included some very costly tests/scans/medication.They paid the vet directly within days of the claim been sent in.The only issue we encounted was from the vet's ,they were apprehensive about our Insurance just because they hadn't… Read Full Review

“Stick with the big insurers... avoid this company”

Written on: 29/01/2014 by teatree1970 (1 review written)

I just received my renewal and VetsMedicover are now asking for 20% of the vets fees on a claim if your animal is over 7, after being a loyal customer for quite a few years I felt robbed. I did a bit of shopping around and although some insurer's do this most of the big ones have this change when your animal is 10 not 7.... Back to pet plan for me. Very disappointed in this company, my advice if you are looking for pet insurance is to stick with the larger companies pay, a bit more but at… Read Full Review

VetsMediCover do offer excellent value for money compared to most other companies when you consider quality of cover against price. Co-insurance is a contentious issue but it does ensure the business thrives, premiums are reasonable and enables you to give your pet the best treatment. We hope to hear from you again.

“Change of mind”

Written on: 29/01/2014 by Marlow001 (1 review written)

If I could put money on vets medicover going bust I would. They have totally lost my trust. I have been with them for over two years, through several underwriters and never had a problem. Had to claim once for £200 ish but it went through ok although the receptionist did argue it until she spoke with the vet and he put her right. Recently I have received an email informing me of a price rise in our monthly direct debit and also because my dog is now 8 I have to pay 20% of the bill myself… Read Full Review

Sorry you feel this way! We are really not greedy and take a very small part of the premium as profit. I hope you can come back to us in the future if you have another pet as our policy really does work and make sense. Thank you for recommending us in the past. The co-insurance can seem distressing but it has to be there to protect the business! Sorry you felt let down. All the best, team VMC.

“DO NOT USE THIS COMPANY- BE AWARE”

Written on: 15/01/2014 by harry839 (1 review written)

Steer clear of this insurance, I have been with Medi-vets for 3 years. I have 5 animals 2 with Pet plan and 3 with Medi-vets. I choose medi-vets after much research over pet plan... BIG MISTAKE. I had never had a problem with them as I hadn't claimed. 3 Months ago I made a claim for my dog of over £1000, the claim was easy and they paid out. My dog is now 8 years 3 months. I received my renewal and realised they have changed the goal posts. They have upped the excess to £95.00 I wasn't… Read Full Review

Hi have just read your review very just the same as my situation, I too am seeking legal advise as nowhere at the beginning of the cover did they say the price or terms and conditions change when the dog reaches 8 years old. They have us trapped now as we will be unable get take out life cover for 8year olds. I am waiting legal advise but if I get no satisfaction I will withdraw on principle

I have been with them for a year. I was paying around £30 a month to insure my English Bulldog. All of a sudden my premiums coming out of my account jumped from £30 to £60! They said they emailed me new policy documents but I never received them. I'm sorry but for a jump like that they should at least try to contact you personally to agree the price! For the last 2 months I have been paying double what I would of paid before and mad no claims, if car insurers did that everyone would be… Read Full Review

Hi,

Sorry to hear about the big price jump you encountered. The English Bulldog breed caused such huge claims that the price did go up. All policy documents are sent via email and all renewal invites are sent 3 weeks in advance. No money is ever collected without notification to yourself. We are very sorry to hear you are unhappy with the product. The quality and reliability of our claims payments remains unquestionable.

We hope you and your pet are well.

Best wishes,

Team VMC

Sorry you feel this way! We will absolutely have tried to contact you at renewal but we have the auto renewal policy in place to ensure that there is no break in cover. The jump in price is really annoying, to say the least! I understand why you do not want to use us anymore based on that reason and am very sorry that the changes have inconvenienced you.

“Simply the Best!!!”

I recently had to make a claim for our Rottweiller Tyson after he had not one but two accidents, after our Vets Sandhole Vetrinary Centre, Snodland. Kent advised of investigations required including X-rays I called Vets Medicover who put me onto the insurance underwriters WhiteHorse, a lady who was from the very onset professional, taking all details of injury etc. and very sympathetic of Tyson's pain and lameness, it was refreshing because I had over the years heard nightmare stories of pet… Read Full Review

“The left hand doesn't know what the right hand is doing”

Written on: 30/08/2013

All looks good initially but it quickly became apparent to me that the various departments at Vets Medicover do not communicate with each other. The policy itself seems good value but be warned that from the 1st September 2013 you will have to pay 20% of the amount claimed so whilst you might have £10,000 worth of cover, that would be £2,000 to find yourself… Read Full Review

The VetsMediCover claims team is not in house, however, communications are constant and any problems are challenged by us if you make us aware of them. The co-insurance can seem sinister, however, it helps us stay in business when the big claims that were causing us to push up the prices often came from much older pets. I hope you are still with us and think the insurance is valuable.

took out the policy in 2010 and they were very good and i recommended them to all my friends. The premiums went up inline with inflation which i understand (couple of pound per year). BUT now they are just being ridiculous and want over £50 pcm which is a massive increase and I have hardly claimed. They are clueless on the phone and do not listen. We are sorry you feel this way. Of course we are not on a mission to go bust - why would we be?! We are ALWAYS fighting for the best terms for our customers... any change in underwriter has been to IMPROVE the terms for our customers. The majority of which are very happy. Please have a look now and if we can be of any service to you it would be great to work with you again!

The new underwriters provide us with better terms. When our existing underwriter has forced us to put up the prices, we look elsewhere for better prices for our customers. We now have a 5 year contract with our existing underwriters and the prices and policy are fantastic. Why would we be on a mission to go bust? We are on a mission to find balance! Please to have a look / get in touch. All the best, VMC team.

I think it appears to be a common factor in pet insurance nowadays. I'm trawling trying to find a reasonable cover for my cats. My dogs are covered through M&S, one is costing £150.00 per month and has many claims, the other is costing £90.00 per month and has had one claim. You can understand an annual rise to cover the usual costs but this is just robbery. These company's use the terminology that entices us in yes they really do care as much for our pets as we do but the hard facts are that they are just businesses. As with all businesses they are trying to make money and that's where we come in. Unsuspecting in some cases but in mine just wanting to ensure my pets remain healthy so I never have to make the choice between money and life. They really do have us over a barrel. Hopefully watchdog will step in sooner rather than later to advocate for our nation of animal lovers.
