“indefinite waiting time for an engineer to visit.”

From my recent contact, I observed that the Company uses freelance engineers therefore has no control of their hours of work. This is similar to using an Agency staff who cannot override an old job to a new request. This is the reason the engineers themselves cannot say for certain when to attend to the new job they have been offered. Waiting for an engineer for nearly a whole day and be told that the job in question would be attended to between 22:00 hrs and 00:00 hrs is absurd. I was given a… Read Full Review

Hi

I’m sorry to learn that you were unhappy with the timeframe offered for your annual boiler service.

To clarify, with both HomeServe and Glow Worm policies all boiler services are normally undertaken Monday – Friday, 9am to 5pm between April – September. This is highlighted within the Terms and Conditions as follows:

Annual Gas Boiler Service
Your policy includes provision for an annual gas boiler service by Glow-worm. This is not an element of insurance and therefore it is not part of the contract of insurance underwritten by the underwriter and it is not regulated by the FCA. This also means that if you have any complaint relating to this service, you will not have the right to refer the complaint to the Financial Ombudsman Service. Glow-worm will contact you to arrange for an engineer to service the gas fired boiler to statutory requirements, manufacturer’s recommendations and relevant codes of practice. Boiler services are normally undertaken Monday to Friday, 9am to 5pm, between April and September.

I thought my toilet had flooded but when the plumber visited he quickly decided that it was an outside drainage problem. He called the drainage engineer who came later that day & unblocked the drain. the service from the plumber was first class my only complaint is with regard to the time he would arrive. I feel that to say he would arrive between 8-00am and 6-00pm is excessive. “Water leak in airing cupboard”

I was working away when my wife informed me that water was showing on the kitchen wall, having recently had the flat roof re-done I suspected a problem with the boiler. My wife contacted a friend of the family who does general house repairs including plumbing, he came and had a look realised it was a joint on the pipe work in the airing cupboard that had deteriated placed a bucket underneath and told my wife he couldn't do anything for a couple of days. “No fuss and problem sorted”

I could hear water leaking in my kitchen but could not see it. I arranged a visit for the Friday and was given a window of time when the engineer would appear. Had a quick phone call from the engineer when he was on his way. He identified the fault in the pipes behind the washing machine and had the parts he needed in his van. “Not happy ”

I called Homeserve on 11 Oct 2014 with breakdown of boiler. Gas engineer came and replaced pressure switch on 16 Oct but boiler did not start. On 20 Oct a new fan was fitted and still did not know the cause of breakdown. Next day switch electrode was changed. Boiler started but soon developed another fault. I was then told as the boiler did not completely broke down they can't do anything. Today 13 days have passed and no joy. I am not at all happy with their service. “Toilet outside down pipe”

Were the toilet down pipe enters the outside concrete it started to leak every time the toilet was flushed. Overtime the water escaping was getting worse to such an extent that I was worried it could freeze in the coming winter and would be dangerous for two 80 year old pensioners. This was not an emergency job but the repair was scheduled for the next day between 0800 and 1300. Because the plumber was delayed on other jobs which took longer than expected, I waited in the whole day. Eventually, the job was rescheduled for the first job of a following day and was completed early in the morning. We had a blocked service pipe at the internal stopcock in the kitchen following a burst water main a few weeks ago. The incoming water pressure got less and less as time went on. I called Homeserve on the Saturday and a plumber came out on Sunday and fixed the problem.
