Good Points: Worked well for three years
Bad Points: Rear LCD died after three years and Nikon charged us £60 to repair it
General comments: Would advise anyone thinking about digital to check the net for the cost of replacement LCDs for proposed brand and then buy that brand of camera.

The Nikon Coolpix 4300 is very good for point and click. Easy to pick up and start taking good quality photos, should meet the needs of most "snappers".

Although I will say that the variables available on the 4300 are quite impressive I find the button layout somewhat thoughtless, the progress of the CCD and writing to the chip so slow I use the view finder to stay with my subjects! I find the focusing some what erratic and unpredictable in any mode !
The insistance on using a Nikon specific battery is just irriting so why did I buy one?
Because it was cheap and it came with a 40m underwater enclosure!

I have a DSLR and use film cameras, but on occasions require the use of a camera without having to carry a bigger system. I looked at what was available and chose the Nikon Coolpix 4300 Digital Camera for its options.
I like the auto 'idiot mode', but find the more manual options a breeze. This camera would suit anyone from beginner to experienced. The battery life is very good and with over 500 photographs taken I have yet to find a fault that was down to the camera and not the user.

I use this Nikon Coolpix 4300 Digital camera for work and it is a great piece of kit, great resolution provides superb image quality, close up photos are amazing. Battery life is also very good. The only down side I find is with indoor dark situations. Other than that a cracking camera for the money. You will need to upgrade the memory card and maybe get a case.

I had this Nikon Coolpix 4300 for christmas. I have taken many pictures and all of them turned out to be great.Easy to use in Auto mode where the camera does all the settings for you. Also give full Manual over ride if you wish. I even print pictures on 8"X10", it is faultless. comes with decent software package for editing and red eye reduction.
