“We have just come back from Playa blanca and we are...”

★★★★★

We have just come back from Playa blanca and we are not lovers of the standard 'holiday makers strip' type restaurants and bars that seems to frequent every resorts main street. We therefore tried various restaurants that the locals eat in. These were so much better in all respects.

Now although this is just of the 'holdiay strip' it is nothing like those. This is a brilliant place. The clientelle is of the more advanced years but we were felt more than welcolm and we had a 5 year old and a 1 year old with us. The service was exceptional and i didnt find that the wait was noticable contrary to the other report. The food was exceptional! I ordered the baby goat (preordered 24hrs in advance). It was delicious. The seafood soup was outstanding. Lamb chops cooked to perfection, my 5 year old had the scrambled eggs with smoked salmon and ham. I though this was going to be a snack type thing but i can honestly recommend it. Flavours were delacate and moreish. Another in our party had grilled octopus with canaries potatoes and he said it was the best octopus he'd had anywhere and he's had lots of spanish food!

All in all a great place if you want some thing truly authentic and more classy than your Tapas bar. Do not miss this place. Incidentally there is a locals bar just up the road called la cantina. Manolo the owner cooks his own tapas on site. Again it is wonderful.

There are indeed still good authentic places to go in the spainish islands contrary to popular belief.

written by A couple of Sunseekers on 28/11/2010

The Los Hervideros restaurant in the resort of Playa Blanca is located in the back street called El Marisco which is not far from the Town Square. it is a typical Spanish restaurant that attracts Brits residents in the resort, local Spaniards and recommendation from other customers. The food is fabulous well cooked and freshly prepared consequently there is often a signification wait for your meal to be served. Excellent value and well worth seeking out if on holiday in this resort. It often gets busy and as there are only about 18 tables it may be advisable to book the day before. It is different from many of the restaurants around and about. Caters mainly for couples or small groups, not in our opinion a kiddies place. It is closed on Sunday evenings.

“We have been going to Playa Blanca most years since...”

★★★★☆

written by First Avenue on 22/11/2010

We have been going to Playa Blanca most years since 1997 and the Los Hervideros has been and continues to be one of our favourite places to eat in the resort. Over the past few years it has been growing in popularity and it is now advisable to book rather than just turn up "On Spec". It is very much a traditional Spanish restaurant with basic decorations and local prints hanging on the wall. The wooden tables are a little tightly packed but not uncomfortably so. The front serving staff have remained unchanged for years so we are instantly recognised when we return. They are only 2 of them!! The food is delicious with many of the meat dishes having a Barbecue grilled taste. Some of the fish is very delicate and lovely. On the downside the portions of vegetables tend to be a bit mean. This is not a tourist quick turnaround restaurant and in true Spanish style the food delivery tends to be on the slow side. Prices are mid range for the resort. Customers tend to be in the main well over 50 and families eating here is an extreme rarity. The atmosphere is quiet although whilst waiting for your food you can end up talking to the people on the table next to you. it is located in one of the back streets and unless you knew it existed you would not find it. Closed on Sunday evenings.Because of the increased trade recently I can only presume that it is a combination of good reputation and this hidden secret has been leaked out.
