“HORRIBLE Worst coloring product ever”

★☆☆☆☆

written by IsaiasMcCoy on 10/07/2014

I just used John Frieda foam in color .. OMG ! WORST product ever! I have thin but otherwise very healthy hair ,,, after rinsing the product and applying the CHEAP conditioner .. I could not get a comb thru my hair .. it feels HORRIBLE , dry brittle breaking off in clumps. I used 2 different conditioning products to TRY to undo some of the damage . Finally ended up sending my husband out to a salon to buy an expensove spray on detangler so I could comb thru it. This product is AWFUL !!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! My hair feels and looks horrible

“Impractical ”

I've been colouring my own hair for years. The foam gets everywhere and in warm weather it doesn't stay foamy but forms a trickle.

“Rubbish”

★☆☆☆☆

written by on 29/06/2013

Went for dark brown v similar to my original hair colour. Just was looking for a colour to cover the few grey I have and where the sun has lightened the ends slightly. Found the colour really didn't do anything- didn't cover the grey despite leaving it that bit longer as it instructed. Colour and ends just looked much dryer afterwards. Really wouldn't recommend it.

“Absolutely dreadful”

★☆☆☆☆

written by redheadnot on 20/06/2013

Well used to doing my hair myself, tried this because of the foam. RUBBISH! My hair is completely different from the box colour - went from strawberry blonde to dark brown - awful! Wont be buying anything by JOHN FRIEDA again - no satifaction or explanation from them as to what went wrong. I went by the book, well experienced in doing my own colour. Appalled, John Frieda, appalled!

“terrible”

written by lilianrose21 on 20/05/2013

It was awful!! I wanted to dye my hair a lighter blonde and it only got my roots and barely nothing else!! It even didn't change my hair color!! It was my first and my last time using this crap!! One pro out of it I got it for free! Good thing I didn't waste $10 on this junk!! I put the whole bottle on like it recommended and did everything the directions said to do! Very disappointed with this! I hope this guy reads all of these reviews!! It's just TERRIBLE!!!!!! I knew I should've read these reviews.

“Worst Color Ever!”

★☆☆☆☆

written by rkrmama on 19/05/2013

I used the dark chocolate brown. Despite claims that it provides long-lasting grey coverage, the color didn't even last a week! Washed out after 2 shampoos. Won't EVER purchase Frieda color again!

“John Frieda Precision Foam Dark Natural blonde”

★☆☆☆☆

written by on 02/02/2013

I had medium blonde hair before i started that wasn't bad but it needed a boost, i had been using garnier Nutrisse and thought i would check out the John Frieda Foam dye as its meant to be a salon formula. Well the application was easy and the foam is good it does not go everywhere and is not as messy as some. The colour, is nothing WOW! it is an ordinary light/medium moussy gingery brown, nothing glossy about it at all. I would NOT recommend at all, Garnier Nutrisse colours are much better. All hype and no substance !! I have spend £10.00 on the dye and another £14.00 for two boxes of Lightest ash blond to get away from the boring colour I had, so all in all i've spent £24.00 and with all my time and effort I guess much more, then there is the condition of my hair with re-dying twice after the foam, now Conditioner applications to get back my condition, I cannot take the risk again with this foam hair colour. Very Disappointed.

“The box lies.”

★☆☆☆☆

written by on 08/12/2012

Naturally i have medium brown hair. I bought the 'dark cool pearl blonde' dye expecting to go a dark blonde, as one would expect so if it says on the box. My hair is now significantly darker than before. Particularly annoyed and disappointed, id like to go lighter as i intended, but I'm afraid if i dye it again using a different colour and brand this vile chemical I've just put in my hair will make it go green or something. Definitely don't recommend it if you want to get what you asked for...

obviously if you have dark brown hair and put a blonde over it, its not going to come up nicely first go. You need to tone it afterwards. Also doing this yourself if you're not experienced as you seem you are not do not try and do it with products from the supermarket and expect salon results.

Um what you don't realise is if you have medium brown hair or darker you must pre bleach your hair before using dye ok. John Freda is the best ever better than any other salon or store colour

“GREY NOT BLONDE”

★☆☆☆☆

written by on 17/11/2012

Use a light natural blond colour in summer but wanted a slightly darker shade The colour looks dark grey, absolutely not what I wanted. Siad medium natural blond on box. Tried to phone the help line but constantly engaged. Makes you wonder if it is all complaints!

“Light? No way!”

★☆☆☆☆

written by on 16/10/2012

Bought this in Light Ash Blonde with intention of getting a light to medium blonde. Natural colour and previous haircolour were a medium blonde. This so-called "light" shade ended up as a dark blonde, if not light brown!! Not at all what I was wanting! Off to the salon for a colour correction, so a $14 box of hair colour is now costing $140. NOT AT ALL impressed. If there is an upside, the conditioner was great: light with a nice fragrance.

“AWFUL”

★☆☆☆☆

written by chadders12 on 12/09/2012

I had a medium/dark blonde colour and decided that I would go slightly darker. Slightly being the incorrect term after I had used the dye. The packets looked quite redish and so i picked the dark cool blonde. My hair is now medium ashy brown which i swear looks grey. NEVER using this product again. Now having to pay to get this sorted out. Also what makes this even worse is that it was more expensive than practically all the other hair dyes.

“Washes out”

★☆☆☆☆

written by on 19/06/2012

I thought I would give the colour a try, because I love the shampoos, etc. What a mistake! It didn't cover the grey very well, and it washed out in 2 shampoos. I will never buy this again.

Used the same produce - really really dark. Couldn't even be called auburn - way darker. Did everything by the book, no explanation from them, just offered me another. NO THANKS - rubbish.
Will never go near this brand again.

I just coloured my hair with John Frieda Light Warm Golden Brown FOAM. This foam did not work after a few pushes, I end up doing my hair dye with my hand and the liquid in the bottle and what a mess.......... all over the play and were the dye landed it left dye spots on the wall and floor. The pump did NOT work. I put the top on and it clicked to postion. The pump worked up to 3 times then would not pump anymore. A real disaster. I will not use foam ever again, I'll stick to the cream !!!!

“Dont use if you like to change your colour now and then!”

★☆☆☆☆

written by on 28/04/2012

I used one of the darker brown JF mousse colours. Stays on, doesn't fade BUT a few months later I wanted to go a bit lighter. Looked at the back of the box seemed totally suitable. It actually went DARKER despite being a lighter shade. Only use this product, in my opinion, if you want to have one colour and keep it on there forever. It has almost too much staying power. It is easy to apply though and doesn't drip. The conditioner that goes with it is quite nice and conditioning.

“Don't waste your money!”

★☆☆☆☆

written by BeckyStothert on 23/04/2012

Pros: nice colour result Cons: Expensive, colour lasted about 2 washes, smells foul like industrial chemicals, complicated to apply, said it should be easy and wasn't, got a generally better experience using one that cost half the price, don't waste your money on this!

“meh....”

written by on 05/04/2012

I bought this hair colour because it sounded great. It was a mousse.. the hair colour looked awesome...I found it annoying. I don't think the mousse is easier to deal with.. also, this product smells bad. I was not pleased with the hair colour at all.. and it was messy... and the conditioner is poor too. I get better hair colour and conditioner with the $5 Garnier product i have been using...I will never buy this product ever again. nor will i recommend it to someone. If it was $3 to buy i wouldn't recommend it to someone... i would say the best thing about the whole kit is the black gloves...Also, it seems there is a lot of product for full coverage... however, that is all .. this product is awful.

“IF YOU ARE BLONDE DO NOT TOUCH THIS PRODUCT”

written by Redflop on 30/03/2012

7G Dark Golden Blonde JF Precision Hair Colourant My hair was already coloured with John Freidas medium blonde, however, the colour was much darker and cooler than I wanted so I decided to go for something a little warmer. I watched the video on the JF website, did the Precision foam wizard to make sure that I chose the right shade and went with the advice given which was to get 7G Dark Golden Blonde. I was hoping for golden warm tones but still blonde. Having used the colourant and turned bright mahogany red I now realise that the last thing that John Freida is precise about is the resulting colour. What you want is not going to be what you get. I contacted them and they told me to wash with a deep cleansing shampoo daily and to scrub the hair until most of the red was out, then I was to put on another dye. Ever heard of a hairdresser tell you to scrub your hair? Normally you get told to give it plenty of TLC. They sent me an ash version of the blonde to tone down the red but when I used that I was still red, maybe not so bright, but with very little difference. Red does not suit me, red brings out all the imperfections in my skin - to cut to the quick, red made me want to go into hiding. As if I didnt look hideous enough already, after 3 weeks the red had toned down on the top but was replaced by an orangey pink colour with a dense red at the back and sides. Then my grey started to appear. Red hair, fading to an orangey pink with a grey stripe - a real multi coloured patchwork. Do I need to go on. £250 later I am dark brown (because it was the only colour my hairdresser thought I could go with so much red) so Im still way off the golden blonde I want but at least Im not red. My hairdresser will make a fortune out of me as he takes me back to blonde. ....so good luck to you if you decide to take a chance. Do yourself a favour - go play the roulette table - using JF is a gamble and at least on the tables, should you win, you can use the winnings to pay your hairdresser to put things right. Shame that they continue to see this product - Ive read hundreds of bad reports and still I see it wold.

“Does NOT Cover Gray”

★☆☆☆☆

written by Grayagain on 28/03/2012

Have been coloring my hair myself for years. Tried John Frieda because of the reputation. Used a brunette shade close to my natural color. First time it did a passable job of color my grays, although I thought it was a bit too dark overall. Loved the foam application as it is easier to apply. In five weeks, I colored again to touch up roots. Using the same shade I had awful results. Did not cover my gray roots nearly as well. A close friend for years and years asked me if I was doing something different to my hair. Told her I switched to John Frieda hair color and she gingerly asked me if I thought it did an adequate job of covering my gray. Since then have been looking at my hair in all kinds of lighting. Not only is the gray coverage significantly lacking, but my overall color is kind of a faded, "dirty" dark brown with dull hair. Yuck. After one week of the second application, I have significant gray hair showing through at roots and darker ends. Horrible. Will not use this color product again. Application may be easier, but end results are what ultimately count. Shame on John Freida. I expected a much better product, especially for the higher cost.

“Oh dear! I wish I'd read these reviews BEFORE trying...”

★☆☆☆☆

written by on 18/05/2011

Oh dear! I wish I'd read these reviews BEFORE trying the product! I tried the dark blonde color and my hair turned the color of HP Brown sauce during the dyeing! When I washed if off (after 20mins), I was left with dark brown mahogany hair with red tones! It is nowhere near blonde and I am very surprised that John Frieda can market this product as dark blonde. I actually thought someone must have switched the colors inside the box it was that different! I'm naturally a strawberry blonde so the dark is a change for me but I won't be using it again. Be warned and don't be taken in by the box!

I agree! I also thought someone switched the color bottle in the box since the color was off by SO much but the box was sealed so not possible! I bought the light golden brown and ended up with jet black reddish hair!
