I had medium blonde hair before i started that wasn't bad but it needed a boost, i had been using garnier Nutrisse and thought i would check out the John Frieda Foam dye as its meant to be a salon formula. Well the application was easy and the foam is good it does not go everywhere and is not as messy as some. The colour, is nothing WOW! it is an ordinary light/medium moussy gingery brown, nothing glossy about it at all. I would NOT recommend at all, Garnier Nutrisse colours are much... (read more)

Naturally i have medium brown hair. I bought the 'dark cool pearl blonde' dye expecting to go a dark blonde, as one would expect so if it says on the box. My hair is now significantly darker than before. Particularly annoyed and disappointed, id like to go lighter as i intended, but I'm afraid if i dye it again using a different colour and brand this vile chemical I've just put in my hair will make it go green or something. Definitely don't recommend it if you want to get what you asked... (read more)

Bought this in Light Ash Blonde with intention of getting a light to medium blonde. Natural colour and previous haircolour were a medium blonde. This so-called "light" shade ended up as a dark blonde, if not light brown!! Not at all what I was wanting! Off to the salon for a colour correction, so a $14 box of hair colour is now costing $140. NOT AT ALL impressed. If there is an upside, the conditioner was great: light with a nice fragrance. (read more)

I had a medium/dark blonde colour and decided that I would go slightly darker. Slightly being the incorrect term after I had used the dye. The packets looked quite redish and so i picked the dark cool blonde. My hair is now medium ashy brown which i swear looks grey. NEVER using this product again. Now having to pay to get this sorted out. Also what makes this even worse is that it was more expensive than practically all the other hair dyes. (read more)

I used john Freida precision faom today in light ash brown. I wanted a medium brown result therefore went for a shade lighter as the product ends up darker than it states in the front. As I was applying I could see that it was already going dark within 5 minutes so I must have left it for 15 mins max. Anyway I washed the product out and my hair looked very very dark. I just coloured my hair with John Frieda Light Warm Golden Brown FOAM. This foam did not work after a few pushes, I end up doing my hair dye with my hand and the liquid in the bottle and what a mess.......... all over the play and were the dye landed it left dye spots on the wall and floor. The pump did NOT work. I put the top on and it clicked to postion. The pump worked up to 3 times then would not pump anymore. A real disaster. I used one of the darker brown JF mousse colours. Stays on, doesn't fade BUT a few months later I wanted to go a bit lighter. Looked at the back of the box seemed totally suitable. It actually went DARKER despite being a lighter shade. Only use this product, in my opinion, if you want to have one colour and keep it on there forever. It has almost too much staying power. It is easy to apply though and doesn't drip. The conditioner that goes with it is quite nice and conditioning. (read more)

Have been coloring my hair myself for years. Tried John Frieda because of the reputation. Used a brunette shade close to my natural color. First time it did a passable job of color my grays, although I thought it was a bit too dark overall. Loved the foam application as it is easier to apply. Hiya, I was reading through reviews and notice you know abit about hair so was just wondering if you could help me. Im naturally blonde, but quite a dark blonde so iv always had highlights but as they are so expensive i started using a blonde colour perminent dye in clairol nice and easy and its really nice but im so bored of blonde now i want change! I went to the hairdressers and asked them to make it brown but they put a copper tone on it and it turned out a faded copper colour, it wasnt nice and it was a 'quasie' which is between semi and perminant so it faded to a horrible tone. now im back blonde and want to see how id look brunette, i just want change but my hairdresser wont do it and always puts me off by telling me how hard it will be to get my hair back blonde. im only 19 and want to try it whilst im young! i cant afford £130 for a good salon who will do it so i am looking into John Freida's new foam in the brunette shades. Have you any advice for me? Thank you!

obviously if you have dark brown hair and put a blonde over it, its not going to come up nicely first go. You need to tone it afterwards. Also doing this yourself if you're not experienced as you seem you are not do not try and do it with products from the supermarket and expect salon results.
