I Rented from Murcia Airport from the 8th til the 14th May. There was no queue, like inside the airport. I got a 2012 citroen C3 diesel with only 2k miles on it. The car was clean inside and out. The cost before fuel (€89) was €47. I do feel they overcharge for the fuel, but I always use every drop. I did a total of 940km, so I spent €3.50 extra on fuel. I returned from Murcia to Bournemouth today. I returned my hire car to the supplier, "Dickmanns" and was treated with some of the poorest service and rudest manners of anyone I have met in dozens of visits to Spain. I was told that I had parked the car in the wrong space. The "Dickmanns" representative told me that I had to move it into the public parking area, not the rental car area. Picked up my car at Alicante airport, charged 45 Euros for half a tank of petrol in a Nissan Micra, 300 Euros taken off the credit card "not blocked" you pay the charges back at home "if they decide to return your money". Asked for a Renault Clio or smaller. Actually was given a brand new Opal Corsa which was bigger for same money than a Clio. Corsa was easy to drive and clear directions were given on how to reach motorways etc.. Staff were very friendly. In January 2013 I rented a car from Dickmanns via AtlasChoice. We were collected promptly from the airport terminal and taken by minibus to the depot which is about 5 minutes away. At the desk I completed the paperwork but declined their extra insurance as I have an annual excess insurance for car hire. I elected to give the credit card deposit of €300. I recently hired a car from Dickmanns via DoYouSpain. The car I picked up at Alicante airport on the Monday would not start on the Wednesday. I eventually got it back to their office in Moraira to be told I needed to fill it up with fuel before they would change it. I'd already paid for fuel when I hired the car. Despite all those here reviewing Dickmann's we were as lucky to have had no negative experience whatsoever. We got picked up in time at Alicante Airport by the minivan. The driver helped us with bags and suitcases. The short trip was fast (just 5 minutes) and pretty comfortable except for the many speed bumps. Had a similar experience as others regarding Dickmanns. They withheld my €300 recently after a weeks car hire claiming I'd damaged their car. The car had marks on it to begin with and was dirty. However because I'd picked the car up in the dark at Murcia airport and no one showed me around it the marks went unnoticed until later on. I suffered the same experience at Alicante airport in November of 2011. I hired through Car Jet but neither Dickmanns or Car Jet were at all helpful, in fact they were both quite obstructive in trying to sort out the Euros200 I had been charged for "damage" Your best bet is to do what I did and put a claim in to your credit card provider as an unauthorised payment. My CC provider (Nationwide) sorted it out and reimbursed my money.

Dickmanns used to work out of a van at Alicante airport too as do many other car rental companies and this does not necessarily mean poor vehicles or poor service.
At Alicante Dickmanns now has a depot with offices and a fleet of new vehicles (our car was low mileage and we were told we were only the third renter).
The issue here is the practice that seems to be emerging of them keeping the deposit for damage you are not responsible for.
It is difficult to effectively inspect a vehicle when you have to take a car at night if there is poor lighting.
Let's hope our reviews save other poor suckers from falling foul of Dickmanns.

I recently hired a car from Dickmann's in Spain. Upon arrival i checked the car with the girl from the office and noted the numerous scratches that were on the car as well as a broken rear winscreen. I have booked with many companies at Alicante Airport and Dickmanns before. 1) The Courtesdy bus from the Airport to the Site was full so had to wait 30 minutes. 2) When I arrived I joined a long and SLOW cue. 3) They said as they were so pleased to disclose, would not honour the booking made direct on THEIR website. I would also say DONT TOUCH DICKMANNS!! We hired a car through do you spain and boy were we done. Do you spain dont reply to any of your questions and give no support. I was directed to Dickmanns by the Auriga Crown site. I was somewhat concerned as there seemed to be a lot on negative reviews concerning the company. My experience was entirely different. I was collected by the courtesy bus at the pick up point at the -2 level of the airport building. The transfer takes about 3 - 4 minutes. Got to Murcia airport found van easily enough. Didn't wait too long, was not happy about request to pay 5 euro per day for further insurance so paid deposit instead then became a little apprehensive about getting this amount of £500 returned. It took numerous phone calls to Dickmanns and Argus carhire whom we booked through before we were told that we left car back without spare wheel.Argus, cartrawler said that they cant help even though they gave us car from Dickmanns. Like others, I have used Dickmanns regularly and never had any problems. I have just come back from Spain and as usual I parked the car by the van and dropped the keys and parking card in the box. We had exactly the same experience. Picked car up at night and again, only given pink copy. Staff member refused to let us to make note on copy. We however took photos of damage which were date & time stamped. Staff member told us not to worry about damage as they knew all about it and told us not to bother taking the photos as they had already taken some!! On return home, we discovered that dickmanns had taken €300....for the damage!! We presented them with photos at pick up and drop off and after much preservance we got an apology email today from the Managing director, and we are getting our money back. We used Dickmans on two of our visits to Spain last year and the other two vists we used Goldcar the only reason Goldcar were cheaper on the other two occassions. I have also booked Dickmans this year. No issues, you can book direct via their website, they breakdown the price of the car and the fuel, (pay and leave empty) and we always go for the extra insurance to avoid issues. We have used Dickmanns Car hire Alicante for our last 2 visits to Spain in Nov and Dec 2011. We paid for half a tank of fuel and then were told to leave the car half full on return - effectively paying for the petrol twice!! To add insult to injury the petrol gauge in the car was set or 'tampered' with so that when trying to leave the car half full at the pumps a couple of miles from the airport we found it impossible to do so. Car looked OK when we picked it up, although it was very dark and the car was black. The same day we returned the car my credit card was charged 200 Euros. I was charged 70 Euros for petrol for filling a small car. On returning the car I filled it with petrol so that I could have a refund on this astronomical charge. They failed to refund either the 70 euros or the price of the full tank of petrol I had paid for. Terrible, charged me 200 euro for alleged damage to the car. They said we left three small cigarette burns in the car seats. We do not smoke and never saw any of these burn marks we are accused of. In your case we searched for the previous contract of the customer who hired the car before you to see if there have been any problems when they returned the car, and the car was marked as good and ready to rent.

We booked our car with enjoy your car hire and I was very pleased with their customer service. I sent them a few emails and they always replied promptly and efficiently. Unfortunately the same can't be said for Dickmans. You need to understand that the prices for the cars are very cheap, and if we would sell the fuel for the same price that we buy it on the petrol station it would not be rentful for us in any case. The insurance is optional and you dont need to make it.

First time that we have used this company at Alicante airport and we were very impressed with the efficiency of their service. The minibus was waiting for us outside the new terminal to transfer us the short distance to their compound to collect our car.Staff were very helpful and pleasant, the car was in good condition and we would definitely use them again. Having regularly rented through Record and watched their service go downhill for the last couple of years we decided it was time for a change. Having read the good reviews for Economy car hire we booked with the car being supplied by Dickmanns and I have to say I would recommend it. I hired a car from 19th -26th Feb. The price was good initially but having paid for a tank of fuel I was told to return the car full. I did this and ensured their staff checked that it was full before I left. I am still waiting for the fuel cost to be refunded. I have e-mailed them twice but had no reply. The car was clean and fresh inside, full of fuel at a very fair price, and well serviced. We are using them again soon.

I go to Spain several times year booking through agent, I have had few duff cars and complained, this time I was given Dickmanns never heard of them so read reviews, I found excellent service, Yes I had to wait but this is usual with all rental companies as many flights come in together, All my future rentals will be direct with Dickmanns no fuss,no extra hidden charges as so many rentals have. So glad to have found them, very nice courteous staff. Best rental I have had in Spain.

I've hired through Dickmans several times,& I can see where the poster is coming from re the site of the office etc..However they are good value for money,as their additional costs,extra drivers,petrol,insurance etc ,are more reasonably priced than many alicante car hire firms. (read more)

Strongly advise anyone considering hiring a car at Alicante airport to steer well clear of Dickmanns.I arrived at night and it is very,very difficult to find their tiny office.There appears to be no signage anywhere.They are at the very back upstairs.They are hopelessly understaffed.Only a charmless young man.When I eventually got the car,which wasn't the type I paid for initally,it took a long time to find the exit.It is even more of a nightmare trying to return the car as you have to go...
