I in the past had 2 HP Envy laptops and after that experience I envied anyone that did not own one. Both failed shortly after the warranty expired. I have had other HP laptops and they were faeces as well. You couldn't give me a HP laptop as I wouldn't trust it to be working the morning after the flimsy excuse for a warranty ran out. My advice? Any laptop other than HP. What did I like? Basically nothing.

I am a Chartered Engineer. I NEED good quality equipment for my work. Over the last 10-12 years I have bought several of the top of the range Envy & pavillion laptops. They are always in the £1300 to £1500 region. The current one has lasted less than 2 years. The internal plastic has become embrittled and the screws which hold the hinges internally no longer have the plastic matrix with the brass bushes to screw into. Now whenever the laptop is open or closed, the internal hinges pop the cover off. Also, the screen has gone, all I can see are lots of horizontal multi-coloured lines. I now can only use it if I plug another monitor and keyboard into it. I wrote to HP last week. Their complaints dept phoned me today. It is out of warranty, they can repair it but I would have to pay, and yes, the repair would be carried out using the same plastic components which become heat embrittled after 12-18 months. The person who rang agreed with me that this was a very common complaint and that I was right to expect more than 2 years from a top end laptop. I said it would cost more than the laptop is currently worth to strip out the internals to replace the plastic carcassing. I asked why they wasted my time by ringing me. They said they just wanted to be polite. I have told them I will never buy HP anything again. I'll buy a new microsoft Surface Pro 7 next month. VERY DISAPPOINTED WITH HP. Save yourselves the hassle, don't pay the top prices for sub-standard equipment. Buy Microsoft or (and I hate to say this!) Apple.

Junk , lasted 2 days before it had to go back for a refund. Amd 8 processor, 8gb and 2tb yet mind numbingly slow. Wouldnt hold a wifi connection for more than 10 minutes, needed a reboot to find networks again, another 20 minutes for it to reboot. Screen quality poor also. Cant think of anything good to say about it. Just glad i got a refund

Hi just bought a hp laptop on black friday deals which was £499,now £349 save £150,before I bought it I thought let me check the prices elsewhere which for the same model I wasn't able to find it,but I still bought it in this case I raised suspicious that this people are a bit tricky as well seeing programme like watchdog how do the shops miss lead customers with their tricks, after a week that I bought it I thought let me check the recent price which it was £399 meaning that I did not save £150 and did not get the value of £499 laptop these companies are thieves so careful always whem they say Sale or discount or multi buy items

Bought 3 HP laptops on sale for my wife, daughter and myself. They all have the saaame problem: Battery, Charger, and the charger hole if broken. Doesnt make any sense considering they are also not the same laptop!! They suck seriously, go with Toshiba or something else.

Over the last 2 years I have spent £2000 on 3 different HP Laptops. HP DV7, HP DV6 and a G56 model. The DV7 burnt out its video card 2 days after the warranty, the G56 no longer attempts to power on and the DV6 has such a poor quality casing it is falling apart 5 months into owning it. I am a careful user and baby my laptops with good protective case's and sleeves. On contacting HP they have said there is nothing they can do to help without me paying for there time. The laptop that is in warranty and is covered by an International Warranty is seemingly not covered by the UK and indeed would be classed as my own accidental damage even if covered, even though the fault is a very clear design issue. In summary HP is a typical example of a fire and forget organization who do nothing to help a loyal customer like myself, resulting conclusion is I will never buy a single HP product ever again and would suggest you do not either.

Terrible.
Would NEVER buy HP again. Really slow, mouse won't work, keyboard neither.
I have a huge amount of computing experience and have followed every piece of advice to the letter. My laptop now runs a 0.5 mph - a reinstall has failed lots of times with next to useless error messages.
Admittedly I am dealing with a Vista (a famously terrible OS) but I have spent HOURS trying to get my way though the various HP websites - it's is hopeless. I have followed everything adivised to the letter and wasted the best part of a weekend trying to kick my laptop back into useable life.
The backup recovery disks created by the system when I first started up the machine are now failig.
I am so angry I could throw my laptop through the window - don't make the mistake I did - they shouldn't be allowed to get away with such terrible systems.
Grrrrrr .....
