Manager at this store very rude. I returned a pair of roller skates that were bought for my grandson for Christmas as the front stopper had come off. I wanted them replacing as they could not be repaired . They had only been worn once he refused as he said "you can clearly see that they haven't been looked after so I am not going to replace them". On 6/05/2013 we visited Smyths store in search of a bike for my kid. We liked one bike and ordered for assembling with the store person.They told to come and collect on Friday 10/05. Before visiting the store on Friday we called up many times to the number 020 8598 8525 but no one picked it inspite of calling 4-5 times at 3 pm . My husband and I went to the Fort Glasgow Smyths Toy shop were one of the staff told us that in April there will be a WWE Star in the store we had to check the web site. I did and could not find any in Scotland so I emailed Smyths to be told sorry but we are not doing any signings in Scotland this year. Dear customer,
We are very sorry that you were mis-informed and for any disapointment caused as a result. We did have the WWE wresters at our Glasgow store last year so perhaps the staff member presumed that they would have been attending again this April. We would have loved to have them visit this store but unfortunately these visits are subject to the wrestlers schedule and they were unable to fit us in.
The wrestlers did attend some of our other stores in April and we will be welcoming them back in November so hopefully we can book them in for a visit to the Glasgow store then.
We will certainly be requesting as many visits as possible for our customers all over the UK and we hope that if we do secure a visit that you will drop by!

I went in to the Speke store on Tuesday morning looking for a trampoline! Now I don't no the first thing about trampolines, I was greated by 'mike' who was very helpful and helped me find what I wanted, he then carried it to the car for me and put it in my Carr, the staff there are a credit to the company! After buying this item on line and receiving it on the day we were told, we opened the box to find a glo pen (a key part of the item ) missing. Emailed immediately on Thursday and have received no reply. Disgraceful. Needless to say we will not recommend Smyths toys to anyone and will not use them again. Thanks for your reply. However, there seems to be some confusion regarding the Speke managers 'several' attempts to contact me. I am at a loss as to why he was unable to contact me on a mobile phone that sits on my desk in work, the coffee table when I watch TV, my computer desk when I use my PC, the top pocket of my coat when I am on the bus and my bedside table when I am asleep. A piece of technology that records a log of all incoming, outgoing and most importantly, missed calls, yet has no log results of his 'several' calls and a call to my voice mail states that I have 'no messages'. I must have it repaired immediately.

Thank you for your efforts in this. However, this course of action should have been put in place on the day of purchase, not following a bad review on a website. Perhaps you should train your staff more thoroughly, I received the first call from the Speke store this week. I can only speak for the store I worked in however I believe the policies and the way Smyths toys conduct their buisness is extremly poor and I would aviod seeking employment with this company. Colleagues are used, lied to or told the selected truth many are paid what the store manager decides and only sorted if the colleague complains. I think this tells you what type of shop they are, I had to phone them about returning an item that I had for more than 28 days the 6 minute call cost over 5 POUNDS PREMIUM RATE CALL THERE CAN BE NO REASON FOR THIS APART FROM MAKING MONEY FOR THEM I dont know any shop on this high rate call number so beware DONT CALL THEM. I visited smyths website and printed off their 'on shelf' guarantee. Basically if you trail to the store and the item isn't there they give you a £7 voucher. Sounded great! Went to the store, closed for stocktaking - Friday at 2pm! Ordered my kids xmas presents from smyths on the 19 November, which is good for me, I usuall order on the 20th December and pray, however this year I wanted to make sure everything was sorted early, so I Ordered a bit earlier. I have been waiting for a reply from the Smyths head office for the last 6 months, having written to the managing director twice to complain about the employment practices operating at the Swansea branch. At induction, the youngsters were first told that it didnt matter how many of them walked away from the job - there were 600 people lined up behind them waiting to take their jobs. My son was recently offered a job at Liverpool branch. He went for an interview and then an induction. He was told to ring over the weekend for hi hours. In the meantime he signed off the dole and was all set to start really excited. he rang at least 50 times over the weekend without getting an answer. Finally on Sunday he got through and was told that he wasnt down on the rota and to ring back Monday morning. It is now 3.30 Wednesday and he still hasnt heard anything after trying on numerous occasions to get through to find out what is going on. I am so angry that they can get away with treating people so badly. My son at the moment is neither working or on the dole through no fault of his own his only crime was wanting to work. He has a home and rent to pay with no income due to the fact the manager of the store on New Mersey retail Park in Liverpool gets a kick out of playing god with peoples lives. I can only speak from experience of ordering online but I had no problems. I ordered a swing on the 23rd of the month, late in the evening I got an email saying it would be delivered on the 24th. Early the next morning I got an email narrowing it down to a 1 hour time period that afternoon, and it arrived on time. That's very helpful. Bought a computer game from the Broadstairs branch of Smyths which was faulty. Complained to the branch and their customer service with no luck. I am left with a computer game that cost £47 that will not work. Because I broke the seal on the packet my rights to a refund or replacement ended. The winners for me were price, availability, ease of ordering, excellent communications, and - most of all - timely delivery! The Lego toy I purchased was cheaper than competitors stores, and delivery was free as it was over £40 - I thought that was very fair! Ordered by cash in store Sat 9th April - promised delivery Wed 13th April which I had to pay £15 for - Now it is 19th April still not had delivery. No on calls me back. I have written no one replies to letters. I will go into store Sat 23rd April and ask for my money back! Should have gone to Toys R Us. (read more)

After reading some of the other reviews I was wary of ordering from Smyths, however I took the risk, as must admit that I found the experience to be excellent. The goods I ordered were exactly as described, and, in my opinion, were good value for money. Smyths have no stores in Scotland therefore I ordered online on the morning of Friday 15th April 2011 and was given an indication of 2 to 6 working days delivery time (and free delivery). I ordered a Spykee Vox mini from the online smyths toys. After waiting 3 days, I request to know about condition of order and they replied and said there was an error in the order and cancelled it.
I am really disappointed by their service and I think it is completely unacceptable. They didn't even give me a full reply and explaination.
A company that totally not reliable.

i have only this experience of smyths and it is not a good one
I had issues with the service i recieved in the Walsall store, so i wrote to the customer service department to complain twice and they have not bothered to reply at all.
the store itself looks good and clean and i would think that Smyths seems ok but only if you do not have a problem with anything bought there.
from looking around the net at reviews and issues the customer service is non existent.

Ordered a jumbo playhouse for my grand son on the 21st nov 2010, and i have never received it...i have sent endless amounts of emails to them and they have never replied...i have also phoned them and when i eventually got through the girl i spoke to was no help at all and all she could say was that someone would ring me back later.which they never did, this has happened twice ...they are a total waste of space...i make most of my larger purchaces on line and this is the worst experience by... I placed an order for this doll through their website first thing on 13th December and only on 18th December received an e-mail cancelling my order as they no longer had stock. This should not happen as stock should be centrally monitored with online shopping and goods not sold if stock is unavailable. The price was very good which is what attracted me to them, but was seriously compromised by their lack of reliability. If you need a reliable retailer, look elsewhere. (read more)

Awful service, had to hunt down where to buy the vouchers, and once bought charged a £2 handling fee, the site said it would be processed within 5 working days; and it wasn't. it took around 10 days for vouchers to go out, and i was charged £2 for that 'service'. I wrote to customer service via email, and they ignored me, plainly incapable of dealing with a simple order and service levels and customer service not of importance to them. Don't use! (read more)

We bought a Chou Chou Mummy make me better doll from Smyths toys. Their price was nearly a third less than other toy stores. They have a great choice of toys at really good prices. (read more)
