I was looking forward to going in store after all the hype on tv with their adverts so drove 40 mins to go to their bury store. What a let down! Didn't look impressive at all was like an overpriced b and m (nothing against b n m) however not what I expected from the overpriced stock. Staff actually avoided me when I was asking for help. I went on line and reserved a duvet cover, which was in stock,for click and collect, gave my card details and it read that MONEY WOULD NOT BE TAKEN FROM MY ACCOUNT until the item was collected. I received an e-mail to say that my order had been cancelled, due to insufficient stock. “Returning as son got a gift card but wouldn't let me...”

Was my sons birthday so we took him to the local smyths toy store colchester and bought him some lego took him home and someone had got him a gift card. He didn't want anything else so I decided to take the lego back and get a refund so I could re-purchase the item when I told the person he told me I couldn't. Well 24hours later after ordering £149.99 kitchen i have no kitchen and my £149.99 is in holding for 5-8 days maybe longer not good enough when your child is waiting on a main birthday present. One of the toys was found to be broken when we arrived home. “Avoid! Avoid! Avoid!”

I have only ever used smyths 3 times and every time has been a disappointing experience. The first time they debited my card twice for the one item causing me to go overdrawn and incur bank charges. If this wasn't bad enough, it then cost me a fortune to call them and report the problem as their phone charges were not clearly visible ( I reported them for this!) the second time I decided to give them the benefit of the doubt and attempted to use their click and collect service. “Misleading and inaccurate information on delivery!”

I ordered two items for my niece's 5th birthday on line on Saturday and paid for express delivery to arrive before 1pm Monday. It didn't arrive and when I contacted Smyths I was told that orders at weekends do not arrive until at least Tuesday and that it must be a mistake on the website. I said that it is not right to provide inaccurate information and that I had paid for delivery on Monday. “Customer care non existant awful staff ”

If there is a price sticker on a toy saying £15 I expect to pay that not £20 I looked at receipt and pointed it out and all the rude unhelpful old woman on the till did was pulled the sticker off and said no its £20 how she has a job in a toy shop I don't understand all the manager said was o ye I have the right to take £20 for it as its human error bt that makes no difference to me as Its not my job to put stickers on toys I just wanted to go buy my son a toy and left the shop feeling… Read Full Review

I have worked in retail in the epos dept and it is illegal what they have done. If I were you I would contact trading standards. For every item wrongly priced the shop can get fined £1000 per item.
By law, you are entitled to receive the product at the stickered price, human error or not! It is the law!

“Product never arrived”

Placed order, told order successful,money taken, delivery in 2-3 days. On day of supposed delivery told by delivery company order delayed as not received it from Smyths. Then no word. No email, message, nothing. I emailed customer service three days later, apparently they aim to respond in 24 hours, 5 days later no response. No goods received and money still out of account. “Poor customer service...Coventry store”

“They cancelled my order! ”

Smyths "Computer Says No!". You may not get what you ordered. In fact, you may get nothing at all. I bought a Nintendo 3DS from Smyths online. Their system announced they had it in stock. The money left my acount. I awaited delivery. When the product did not arrive I checked my emails, only to find that they had changed their minds. “Disgraceful staff”

I wanted to buy a bike for my daughter and the sales assistant disallowed me from letting my daughter check if the bike was her size. He was impolite and impertinent. I said 'how can I buy the bike without checking if the bike is my daughters size'. His reply was you are free to buy from elsewhere. I bought a trike bike latest edition chic boutique which arrived promptly. After spending an afternoon putting it together we both agreed that it wasn't as sturdy as described & also steered badly. This item was no way as good as reviewed so we dismantled ASAP to return. That's when we found out that once the wheels are locked into place you cannot remove!!!! “Great Online Service!”

I needed an above ground pool quickly (to take abroad). Smyths had just the one at a good price and next day delivery. After I placed the order I read some of the reviews on here and felt a bit uneasy, especially as my card was declined by my bank (being overly cautious, not a bad thing). “Bad service - would not refund faulty product”

I purchased a 3SI XT Stunt scooter for my sons birthday, after a few hours use I noticed the rear wheel was eroding where the break made contact. I returned it to the Bury store 2 days after purchase. “Great service, in Reading, Berkshire ”

We had superb service in the Reading store today, bubble machine going when we arrived - kids loved it! Each aisle was armed with at least 2 members if staff to help - no station was left unattended, so you didn't have to walk idly around the store looking for help. We purchased a toy gun, and a trike ... We were helped by staff for each item. Very friendly, we will be going back.
