Shop's lay out, stock and overall presentation is good. Quality of staff especially the several managers I've had the misfortune to deal with is extremely low. Arrogant, rude, opinionated and lack good old fashion customer service. I now have no option but to drive to their competitors after several complaints to HQ and no resolve. “False advertisement , poor customer service !!!”

After searching through smyths website on June 30th 2015 I found a monster high castle available for pre-order at 20% off taking the price from 149.99 down to 119.99, fantastic I thought it's on offer saving me 30.00 and will be available for release date in August, as I pushed the pre-order button I received a none in stock reply, I assumed perhaps due to its release date it will remain at 20% Off until atleast it's available to be purchased, after all how can you reduce a toy if it's not… Read Full Review

“Damaged item”

Always had excellent service at Portrack lane store, having bought bikes, scooter etc in the past. However on this occasion having spent nearly £150 on this trip to the store im left extremely annoyed. Took my daughter to buy her a "space scooter" for her birthday.. She saw a helmet she wanted so we got that for her as well and a couple of toys for my son. On returning home and putting the scooter up ready to use i noticed the helmet was damaged. Disappointment really is quite an understatement!

Yes iv contacted cust services all they did was contact the store and repeat what the staff said in store!!
Quite a pointless exercise and great for wasting even more of my time.

So still have damaged item and im even more bewildered at the way smyths toys treats their customers.

Im Disgusted by the whole experience and will never set foot in a smyths toy store ever again.
Im Now an ex-smyths toys store customer.

“Refused to refund a faulty skylanders game”

“Poor customer service ”

Reading store the person I dealt with checked a product for us with a woman, who said it was priced wrong and was 44.99 instead of 64.99. He told us and said he would put the product behind customer services for us. He then comes back and said it's actually 64.99. “untrained and rude”

bought a robot dog in the clearance isle. they (gateshead) could not find the proper price so charged me twice for another item i had that was £25, no problem? got it home and it would not walk?? hours later i took it to the durham shop as around 30 miles from gateshead. the young lady "manager" was about as unhelpful as u can get, defensive before even speaking to me. would not help very much and had the cheek to tell me "technically" i did not have a receipt, technically they have charged me… Read Full Review

“Misleading pricing - overcharging”

Went to the store to purchase a birthday gift for grandson. Each product is individually priced with a large secure label sticker. Selected a pair of roller boots, clearly marked 'was £34.99 now £24.99'. The cashier charged £34.99 and the manager refused to sell at the advertised price, even though others were similarly priced. Whilst in the store two other customers got into an argument about being over-charged. Best avoid this dodgey store and go to a more ethical toystore… Read Full Review

The matter was referred to the Wiltshire Trading Standards for misleading pricing, along with other complaints of a similar nature from other customers. Looks like a pattern to mislead.

“Do Not Use”

Orderd a birthday gift for my grandaughter online on Thursday to come next day. Her birthday was the Sunday.. Paid for next day delivery..... still not received it. Have rang five times and promised on 3 that I would receive a callback. We even had a txt this morning to say your delivery man will be here between 10.58 and 11.58 with your order. The Next Day Delivery Service depends on what time of the day your order was placed. Our couriers do not deliver on weekends as these are not considered to be working days.

“Ordered online and delivered next working day ”

I ordered three items online for my daughters birthday last Friday and it was delivered to me on the Monday. All items received, no problems online or with delivery. Simple and easy to use!!! On the Friday I got an email to confirm purchase, followed by an email and a text to confirm date of delivery. One the Monday I got a text to confirm the delivery company, drivers name and E.T.A which was spot on. “Happy to ignore Irish law very disappointing.”

“robbing money from a child”

We took our 8 year old son to smyths today to spend his xmas vouchers he purchased a xbox game when he got home he opened it and then realised that it could only be played online we tried to return it within an hour but was told as the cellophane had been removed they couldn't refund it but would buy it back for half the moneyits a brand new game thats never been played they didnt even offer him a store credit was told to sell it on facebook we will not be shopping at smyths again… Read Full Review

So I placed my order and everything seemed fine waited in for my delievey and it didn't come. Waited again and checked my tracking to see they had tracked it as unable to delivey although I was in all day. And I was listening out for it all day! Still no delivey! “poor customer service”

i purchased a pair of roller skates in the broadstairs store which were priced at £24.99 on the box along with others on the shelf on going through the till they came up at £34.99 after a heated discussion with the manager we were told we had to pay the higher price. its not the customers fault that you have mispriced these and would think a big store like yours would let them go as a gesture of goodwill to your customer like any of the other major stores.its put me off shopping here again… Read Full Review

I placed order, had confirmation order number, money withdrawn. When trying to get update i email them only to be told that order not completed. tied to log in to web site, but the site is not generating emails to obtain passwords. Tried phoning, 22 in queue, 2 mins later 21 in queue, no further info given for 30 mins just the droning music . hung up, rang again, 23 in queue, 2 mins later 22 in queue. been waiting for 30 mins now and still no update. i went into Wallsend Smyths looking for a red hulk action figure the girl i asked was serving someone else but quickly came back to help me,she went up ladders and looked through the figures and found what i was looking for excellent... I then looked for a 4ft football table which was at the main entrance.i could only see 3ft tables so the man that i asked to find me one went on the store internet and there was only 2 left one of which was on display so he went to look in the store room to look… Read Full Review
