    Good Points: Sturdy, reliable.

Bad Points: Battery life short, gets hot on the lap.

General comments: I bought aDell Inspiron in 2003 to write my thesis; it's 2009 and my computer is still performing well. Battery life does "suck" fom the beginning. And I now need more memory but this computer has served me well.

Have owned my Dell Inspiron 2650 since 2002. Has been extremely reliable with no issues, except the OEM Dell battery it came with. Replaced it with a generic battery about 2 years ago that runs amazing. Very durable and well-made laptop overall. Major limitation is the maximum 384MB of RAM that I was able to upgrade it to.

This Dell Inspiron 2650 laptop is durable.
Heavy and runs pretty hot. Battery life is very low.
    No problems after 5 years.
I use this computer for internet. Has both CD and floppy drive. Old tech, but good for small kids since its tough.

I have had my Inspiron 2650 for nearly five years now. I received it as a graduation gift and have been more than happy with it. I had a bit of trouble two years ago and had to reinstall Window , but the problems I was having were due to a virus- my fault, not the computer's. I would definately recommend to someone needing a basic laptop. I would recommend upgrading the RAM from 256 mb- it made a world of difference for me and was very easy to do.

Thank god there are other laptops out there to use. I won't recommend anyone get the Dell Inspiron 2650 UNLESS they have the means to replace it. The battery lasts only 15 minutes, and won't hold a charge for longer than that.

The first laptop I owned, I bought the Dell Inspiron 2650 in Dec of 2002 and am selling it in May of 2006, did not have one problem with it, I am in the military and believe me when I say it has been all over the world. Great laptop I did no upgrades and replaced nothing. Once again this laptop has more miles on it than I can explain and on top of it all it looks brand new still. All in all it just depends on how well you take care of your stuff.

I've had this laptop maybe 3 or 4 years. After one year of owning the Inspiron 2650 the power cord got really messed up and twisted on the inside and so the wires were frayed. I wasn't able to find a new cord on Dell's site so I had to buy it from some other website. That lasted me about another year. But then where I inserted the cord I guess got loose. We tried to get it fixed at a local place. That was a bad idea and waste of money. Within a month it was loose again and we had to send it in. ...

I've had the Dell Inspiron 2650 laptop computer for about 2 years. It is my third and last Dell. The power cord is having to be replaced for the third time, and I've had to have the motherboard and the CD player replaced, despite no heavy use or abuse. Thankfully they were covered by the three year warranty. The latest cord is not, and Inspiron 2650 didn't even show up in the parts list at Dell. Myself and my daughter have spent hours trying to get assistance from the support service, which i ...

My Dell Inspiron 2650 Laptop was great when I first bought it. However, a year after I had purchased it the plastic at the hinges started to crack, and now the screen won't support itself. Also, I have had to replace the hard drive twice. Beware! Has anyone else had this problem? Dell claims that it isn't responsible for it, and I am talking to the local BBB chapter for representing me and some others if this is a frequent problem.

I am thankful that I purchased a 3 year warranty for the Dell Inspiron 2650. I am also thankful that I have lots of extra time to spend on the phone with Dell tech people, and that I have the ability to follow their rather technical installation and repair instructions. I have had the LCD replaced twice, a complete overhaul once, and just replaced the optic scanner. Dell representatives advised that they, too, would be upset with such poor performance. They are certain, however, that if I pu ...

I've had the Dell Inspiron 2650 for two years. For the price, it has been much better than average. Counting the resale value it has cost me about $1.10 per day. It is still going strong and will last a couple of more years. Wish you could add more than the 512 ram.

I have had my Inspiron 2650 for almost 2 years now and I am very happy with it. My only gripe is the fan that can be a bit irritating at times.

Performs well for games and general applications.

After twwo years the battery is still good for 2 hrs and the hinges are fine.

Dell Inspiron 2650 - Good for a year and then the screen hinges start to crack and Dell will not repair this. This is a massive fault and the laptop is not fit for its purpose. (Also, the battery life after 2 months is about 1 hr 20 mins).

It is a very nice computer, but not responding the requirements of contempary life because of missing functions. If they are included it would be great. It must have infrared and tv out and must be available and have reasonable price.

Had my Dell Inspiron 2650 Laptop for 3 months and it has performed very well. The 16mb graphics card nvidea geforce 2 is good enough for most games today (plays return castle wolfenstien very well). Overall performance is quite good, i chose the dell over the sony viao pcg-fx701 which had a similar spec (+ a few extras like infra red port and tv-out)
Build quality is good but not excellent as the screen does make a creaking sound when you close it. The LCD display is good, but looking at the ...
