I am an international business person whom usually resides in Canada. A couple of years ago I began a NatWest Private banking account while I was travelling and doing business in the UK. The account was to enable me to transfer funds to and from the UK with my Canadian accounts. By having an account in the UK I could spend more money while in the UK on business or pleasure. Unfortunately, NatWest private banking, to my surprise and without notice, seems to have moved my account out of Private Banking and to the regular branch. Normally this would be OK, however when a person is dealing at the branch level they can not wire funds and do many other things without being in the branch physically. Obviously this is difficult for me, as I would have to make a trip to the UK in order to do a banking transaction. According to NatWest I haven't used my account enough, and I no longer meet the criteria for Private banking. The strange thing is, I still use my account as I always have and my financial situation has not worsened, in fact it has improved since I opened the account. Needless to say, this is a minor inconvenience to me and many others are suffering more than I during this time of financial uncertainty. However, I wonder how the situation will improve when banks, like NatWest, are In my opinion alienating their customers. I am withdrawing all of the funds currently in the account and closing it. The move to the branch level dictate that it would take a month or more to transfer funds to or from Canada. Obviously, for most financial transaction, I do not have a month to wait.

Happily banked with Natwest for over 15 years, always managed to keep me complacent, and vice versa. Never going over an agreed borrowing amount in all that time. sure I had an overdraft, in fact a massive one about 4 years ago, but it was all agreed, and I set about mending my ways and reducing it every month. In the last year or so I have always been in the black, have a decent savings account with them and also had a credit card, which I paid back in full each month. I'm not boasting, but I d ...

NatWest I have found are a shockingly bad bank. The staff I have encountered have no idea of banking procedure - I work in a bank myself and repeatedly have to explain how things work when I speak to staff on the telephone. Call centre staff seem to be students earning beer money (no offence students), no interest in solving problems, and certainly no interest in the reputation of the bank. I would steer well clear of this bank unless you want to be charged 400 pounds in bank charges within 3 da ...

Will ring you up saying it's time for a financial review (i.e. they want you to traipse to the branch in order that they can try to sell you lots of inappropriate financial "services"). When you decline, thy ask you to give personal account details over the phone.

They have a habit of sending you loan applications you didn't ask for which you just need to sign for an "Instant £10,000" etc, which again is not very secure.

The actual telephone banking service is ok (and UK as far as I can ...

I don't use overdraft/credit cards etc, so can't comment on charges, but Natwest can be very slow at clearing funds if it's to their advantage to do so. Basically the same lame service you'd get from any bank-no better or worse.

Natwest are by no means the worst Bank in the UK, but there is plenty of room for improvement. I have had the current account since I was a student, on a particularly good deal. However, since graduating the terms are less than favourable.

We had to make a payment and were given a due date, we paid it on the due date then got a late charge of £12, when we complained we were told it should of been paid 3 days before the due date and the late charge would stand. So I've closed everything I have with them and encouraged everyone I know to do the same. A rough estimate of the money not going through them due to this late charge is near £100 grand a year, I've hit em where it hurts, in the digits. Hope they enjoy that 12 q ...

I have banked with Natwest for the past 8 months and have always found them to be extremely helpful and very quick to do things. I would certainly recommend them. I wanted an upgrade of my service card 100 to a service card 250 and it has been approved. I think they are excellent

It's definitely made me think about changing banks. Looking at the Review Centre website, there are lots of positive reviews about the smaller lesser known companies who appear to look after their customers better than NatWest.

Natwest portrays itself in the media as being your friendly personal bank that will go the extra mile for you when all the other banks will only let you down - or so I was led to believe. I actually met the bank manager when I first opened an account up, and having come from Australia was pleasantly surprised at how much better and more personal the banking customer service was in this country. Since then, I have been sorely disappointed to see Natwest follow the Australian tradition of pleasing ...

I am quite surprised by the bad reviews about Natwest on here. I have banked with Natwest my whole life, and I would recommend it 100%. The staff are very friendly and always happy to help. One even complimented me on my hairstyle the other week and we ended up having a conversation about hairdressers for 10 minutes. The services are really easy to use, and the banks are always very clean and well looked after. I get a very good interest rate, and I can rest assured that Natwest put me and my ne ...

I always pay my credit card in full. I made a payment on 7th July which was processed on 12th July, but I was charged for late payment on 11th July (though my NatWest account was debited on 10th July). I complained but I got a rude response. Since I didn't pay the whole sum out, because of the charge they made (I just realized that), I am basically still paying interest on whatever I purchased since. They are not that good with their interest rates. I was with them just because I believed that I ...

All I saw was negative comments about NatWest, so I thought I'd put forward my opinions, which are mostly good.

I have banked with them during my entire student life and have enjoyed their service. Ok getting fined consecutively for going over overdraft limit was expensive, but entirely my fault. I just kept going over. Taught me to be sensible with my money;)

The online facilties are great. I can do everything from them. Transfer money, make payments for bills or credit cards. ...

After having a Current Account with the Natwest for 10 years. I set up a student account with all the usual bells and whistles designed to entice. Have used it as a fairly standard account. There is no advice whatsoever from the bank (eg. To offer better accounts or products). No customer contact in the slightest. No flexibility when I went overdrawn by £10 for 24 hours. The few positive points are outweighed by the lack of a customer relationship.

My family have banked with Natwest for years and I had my student account with them. Recently they have been quite rude and inconsiderate and refused to extend my overdraft. I am therefore changing over to RBS who are apparently much nicer to deal with!! Is this just me that has had these problems?

I have changed accounts from Natwest after being with them for many years. I wanted to change after experiencing customer service problems and guess what? When trying to shut the account I had major problems - Too many to describe but all to do with a lack of service and communication at the branch. They do have good telephone customer service but by that point it was just too late! I have changed to a Co-operative account and any problems have been sorted out quickly and efficiently with a ca ...

No, this is not a desperate attempt to justify what goes on in my private life. I want a divorce from NatWest. I claim 'irreconcilable differences'. To put it simply, I believe that a bank should be able to have the so-called 'bright new' student bank account operational in less than 36 days; NatWest don't.

For anyone thinking of opening an account with NatWest, especially students - read this first. I would not recommend their service to any friend of mine.

During my short time with the ...
