I have to agree, mine only lasted 7 years. Why pay 800 plus I can buy a cheap POS for half the price and last 4 years. (read more)

Our family recieved the Bosch SHU8805UC as a Christmas gift from a family member on 12/8/02.
During the first two months my wife was very impressed with this appliance. Cleaned well and very quiet. The signal (Beeper) when washing is complete is quite annoying since it can't be bye passed. Wakes up family members during the night.( What good is the quietness of the machine during the night if a BEEPER goes off every 20 minutes until door is reopened?

Finally got a decent dishwasher -the Bosch SHU8805 - after 2 Maytags (one was supposed to be the quietest they made!) and a GE (came with new house) that was more ornamental than functional. This is what a dishwasher is supposed to be. It washes dishes CLEAN and doesn't require the most expensive detergent. It is also so quiet you don't actually have to be leaving the house to switch it on. Love this appliance. Looks great too - no ugly control panel to spoil the look of my kitchen. (read more)

Yes it's quiet... but you won't be when you pay to have it fixed.... if you can find a place to fix it.

Christina from Delaware: the manufacturer is Bosch, as is posted. I found them at Sears, Menards, ABC Wharehouse, and other smaller stores also. The big chains listed above all will match prices so I chose where to buy according to the price and conditions of the optional additional 5 year extended warrantee.

We have had our SHU series Bosch dishwasher for less than 3 years. In that short time the control board has shorted out 3 times. Each time it has taken from 2 to 6 weeks to get a replacement board installed. The unit went out again last night with the same problem. For US$700 it should be a crime to sell such a lousy piece of gear. I plan on taking the unit to the metal yard to sell it for scrap and then may pay the operator a tip to get to watch them toss it into the car shredder! (read more)

Without citing a model number it's difficult to consider your comments. You're making it harder to choose, unless you're saying that all Bosch dishwashers are problematic.

My Bosch dishwasher is a SGS5312.

<br>It is around 2 years old. The control board is just burnt out. The cycle completed but wouldn't heat up during the cycle, effectively using cold water. Not much use!
<br>
<br>We bought Bosch thinking it would be reliable, but the cost of the new board plus labour equated to over a third of the cost of the dishwasher in the first place.
<br>
<br>I cannot therefore recommend this Bosch. There are many other Bosch models with the same board, so please consider your choice of dishwasher very carefully.
