Linux is available free or much lower price than Windows. All software programs, utilities on Linux are freeware or open source whereas we have to pay for windows software. Linux provide more security than windows.

Linux perfectly designed for EEE PCs. Everything just works out of the box, love the interface. they have a focus on the ASUS Eee PC with 7" screen, but works on my 10 inch great. It is based on Ubuntu.

Well Linux should be free, not sure how you manage to pay for it. You can pay for support if you want (eg from Red Hat). Much of the free software (eg Libre Office and Gimp) is also available free in Windows versions. (Not that I'm advocating Windows - I h8 it !)
