“Very poor work and customer service ”

I had a conservatory built which we told should have taken 2 days but took 5 days. The conservatory that was built didn't fit the foundations due to poor measurements. They returned to fix this problem and the leaks that resulted from the poorly fitted foundations but the leaks continued to be a problem. Many phone calls and no replies later I finally spoke to someone that said they would send someone round to fix the problem but they never arrived. “Appalling service 4 year trying to fix a leaking...”

I had a leaking conservatory, so I bought a new one from Smiths. One year later I had a leaking conservatory and three and half years later they replaced the roof. First rain afterwards I have a leaking conservatory again. I have been promised that people would get back to me some many tings I have fours pages of motes on broken promise after broke promise. Thank you for taking the time to leave this review.
Unfortunately the events listed are not the full story and as a representative of the company I would like to provide this.
4 years ago you had a conservatory built by our company, you signed a satisfaction notice and enjoyed use of your conservatory for many years.
You reported a leak to the conservatory earlier this year and it was discovered that there was indeed an issue with the roof. In June of this year the leak was rectified by installing a whole brand new roof along with rectifying the issues to the doors we also replaced sealed units that were not in the guarantee as a gesture of goodwill.
You have failed to inform anybody in this review that these issues have been rectified.
We have had numerous downpours of rain in the meantime since the original leak was repaired and have received no notice of any problems.
This evening at 6:20pm you emailed our company with news of a new leak. Our offices as I am sure you can appreciate are closed and all installers are at home.
This email will be read tomorrow morning by the relevant department and the conservatories manager will be calling you when he gets into work.
To come onto a review site like this is totally unfair as you have emailed us outside of business hours and given us no time to respond or repair this problem. This issue will be rectified for you however i would ask you give us a chance to sort it out for you before deciding to take your complaint to an open forum.

“Shoddy Conservatory bad workmanship”

Ground work commenced on time, could not fault the brickwork, both lads worked extremely hard. Construction of main conservatory very poor, shoddy workmanship, guttering appalling! Workman returned to put right the guttering resulting in a complete bodge up! Patio doors badly fitted and one is damaged. Fan light has missing shade. Stain glass window badly made. “Terrible after sales care”

Weeks after fitting two patio doors I'm still awaiting a new barrel/lock which they claim to have ordered but hadn't. I constantly chase but nobody ever calls back in regard to this. I'm booked in to have the doors adjusted and a large scratch repaired on 12-08-16 but they now deny that this appointment was ever arranged. “No Show”

Had a call from Smith to arrange an appointment for later in the week. Friday at 3pm was agreed. My request was that as I knew exactly what I needed I would allow an absolute maximum of 1 hour which was deemed to be sufficient to measure up etc. 3pm today came and went which is why at 6.15pm I am writing this review having read many reviews already posted from dissatisfied customers. A telephone call was made to you which you did not answer and a subsequent voicemail message was left by ourselves for you to which we never recieved a response.

“Terrible after-sales service”

Same problem as others with female sales rep who was unable to work out costs accurately - the 'cheaper' option was worked out to be more expensive. Post-fitting, the service department manager was rude, argumentative, did not follow through to complete actions which they agreed to on the phone. Service staff were very poor at returning calls. Please contact your local Citizen's Advice Bureau who will take details of your issue & give advice. I did this & was subsequently contacted by Trading Standards who were speaking with others who had sought advice from the CAB. TS subsequently took a written statement from me about my experience with Smith's in preparation for a court appearance in October. In addition, it is probably worth contacting Trading Standards directly and sharing your feedback with them.

“Disappointed with my recent experience ”

I have recently placed another order with Smiths after already having houses done by in the pasted. I am disgusted with the after sales service I have received this time around and with the attitude of certain members of staff at Smiths. Not happy with after sales, guys who did the job were good but unfortunately my stable door is not closing due to a fault in the hinge. Spoke to the manager who was very rude and hung up, asked us to only make contact via email. We explained we can could not lock the door. Very rude and not helpful at all. Would never recommend this company to anyone. They expect use to leave the door open and carry on with life, these people have no understanding and don't offer any advice. I'm afraid this is the all too common experience when using this company, as it mirrors mine. I know their management views the comments on here, to the point of asking my factual and balanced review to be removed. It's therefore clearly a conscious decision to offer zero after sales or customer care. This is a real shame as the fitters were great.

We urge anyone to not go near Smiths. 3 days after our windows were installed they needed replacing which took weeks to be sorted. Staff are extremely rude and unprofessional. We also had to have 3 front doors fitted as all were of such a poor standard. This took 5 months to sort out as Smiths do not offer any after sales service. Avoid this company at all cost, they have ruined my home & garden due to inexperienced poor work men . They uncovered a 300mm storm drain whilst building a conservetry, they just poured concrete onto the drain . Update smiths have left my property unfinished and in a terrible state . They have left a skip on my drive , been there for over 4 weeks it is over flowing . Skip company will not remove it Because Smiths Glass have not paid the bill . Shocking

Recently had a set of Bifold doors measured and the sales person a lady was nice. Took the Barclays finance out all set up and waiting for the doors to be fitted . A few days before fitting I was ringing SMITHS and I new something was not right. Smiths said he had got to cancel our contract because Smiths had under priced over £2400, I was so upset how can a company set up finance and draw up a contract.Really unprofessional Company. I work for a very large regional company, one which you see on the TV but I will mention no names. We are not the cheapest company but the service the customer receives is impeccable. if there is an issue then it is rectified.we frequently lose jobs to little companies like this with customers like you. you get what you pay for at the end of the day and I bet my bottom dollar that you went with these guys because they were dirt cheap. in that case you deserve it for being a cheapskate and not paying a little more for a good service. a lesson well learned.
