Firstly let me apologise if you feel the work that has been conducted for you is not as you required however I am unable to find any customers on our system with the issues that you have stated. I have asked review centre to pass on your details to us so rectify the issues however they have said you are not willing for them to tell us who you are.

With conservatories payments are made in stages and you only pay once you are happy. If you were unhappy with the brickwork at the time I would imagine this was raised by yourselves and the work will not have continued unless you specifically stated you were happy with the work that had been done and wished for us to continue erecting your conservatory.

We do not like to hear bad reports about our company and as a company that has been trading largely on word of mouth for the last 47 years we are always looking for ways to improve our service. We are currently installing over 150 jobs a month and largely these go without a problem.

If you could please contact our service department at your earliest convenience they will assist you in any way they can.

When I signed the brick work off it was ok. But when the window fitters came to fit the frames it was them that realised a gap on the internal wall was wrong. The brick work was then removed in part to cover the gap. However in doing so the pointing was a different colour, bricks had some for of dye on them, a brick was chipped and they had used 3/4 brick & 1/2 to get the staggering. I did raise this with your works manager who then agreed to plaster the walls.

“AVOID THESE LIARS”

We went to their showroom in Basildon and were given a price for the door we wanted. We booked a home visit and were given the exact same figure by the salesman as the first man so we paid a £100 deposit . A few days later the “surveyor” arrived for final measurements so that the door could be manufactured, but before he was in our door fully he stated that if we still wanted the work done it would be £400 more!!!! I am sorry to hear of your experience however the facts you state are not entirely true.
All contracts agreed to are subject to survey - as is standard with all works done by any building company. This is because without surveying the job you are not able to account for all costs involved.
At the time of survey any differences between the agreed order and what you specify to a surveyor will be flagged up and recosted accordingly. Changes such as additional works needed or in most cases such as this one a change of design to the door.
Any variation to the cost agreed upon is put to a customer who if they decide to cancel will be refunded any deposit paid without penalty (even though it has cost the company money to send out a representative and a surveyor)
This refund will be processed and sent within 28 days of receiving your cancellation in writing as is standard with any contract a customer may enter into.
The company has been trading successfully for over 46 years now and we do not "treat people like fools" as you put it, the vast majority of the thousands of customers we install for every year are happy and satisfied with the work we carry out.

It's AMAZING how you defend yourselves on a review site, we are still waiting for feedback from you, at the request of your employees, after we got passed from pillar to post, to send you an e-mail with all our issues and several months later we are still waiting/chasing a response and someone to fix the poor product you supplied us with. Perhaps we should post a copy of our e-mail to you on this site so everyone can see how poor your customer service and attention to fixing your faulty products is!

I want to congratulate you for actually raising a response from Smiths Glass as I have posted my complaints letter on this site and approx 6 weeks on have yet to have a response.

I'm hoping that this comment may awaken someone from this awful company and they may contact me about my complaint.

I totally appreciate where you are coming from, the customer service is beyond poor and no-one knows anything or wants to take responsibility! We have been phoning them on a daily basis and no-one ever gets back.

They do not know what they are doing - literally. They do not know what they are and are not capable of doing. In response to a cold call I explained in detail they work we wanted done. A salesman came around and spent hours measuring, sucking his teeth and making confirmatory phone calls. We paid a deposit. Be very careful of this company, we've been chasing them for several months to fix an issue which they said was their fault but are making up every excuse under the sun as to why they won't/can't fix the problem. Just an update to say that to date no one from Smith's Glass in Basildon or Southend has contacted me about my issues!

We have been phoning them on a daily basis and no-one ever knows anything about our issues and it's always someone else's responsibility and funnily enough that person is never available!

However I still get a phone call from the sales department on a fortnightly basis offering a quote for more work!

The amount of stress this company has put our family through is unbelievable and just thinking about the lack of customer services make my blood boil!

The next step now is sheer desperation would be visiting their Basildon showroom and letting potential customers know of our experiences with this company!

Can you not complain to the Glass and Glazing Federation (GGF) They are supposed to cover for things like this. We have had them out to visit tonight even though we have read the good and bad reviews. Seems like its the luck of the draw to what fitting service you get. Also you mentioned you had beading around your windows. The Sales Rep said we wouldn't have beading as frames are 70mm wide not 60mm and they install from inside not outside so won't need scaffolding. Although your window does sound large

Glad you're happy.
My 'horrible review' is also genuine to the point where Smiths asked the Review Centre to remove it unless I could provide evidence, which I did, which is why it's been reinstated.
My product is actually OK.
It's when something goes wrong the problems start.

I am surprised to find reviews dating after April 2014 as I have been trying for the last month to contact Smith's regarding an unfinished conservatory. They have not answered any telephone enquiries or messages left. No e-mails have been replied to and even Special delivery letters to both Directors and Management have been ignored.
