25/10/2010 - credit card debited for Emerald engagement ring. Many days later ring arrives - the gold band quite thin. A few weeks later the gold band broke apart - ring returned to Nuttalls for replacement. Delay after delay, no replacement forthcoming. Refund requested & credit card details e-mailed to Nuttalls. No response from Nuttalls to repeated e-mails as of today ie. 17/08/11 !!! On holiday next week so will be contacting the Office of Fair Trading. AVOID ALL DEALINGS WITH THIS COMPANY (read more)

We had the same problem with them my ring had a dent in it so we sent it back and they sent the same ring back !! We called them they were very rude but said I could have a different ring they sent the new one and the stone was shatterd they said that I had done it and there was not any thing they would do. So I had no engagement ring and had to buy another one I was so upset.

my boyfriend who ordered my engagement ring was told time and time again that the product was currently unavailable, this was seven months ago, we went elsewhere in the end. The staff are rude, unhelpfull and basically do not care whether or not anyone ever recieves their money back. However they are quick enough to obtain funds, knowing full well thy will never recieve their goods. Also knowing that they now use alias's is slighlty worrying. The worst service ever!! they are now bankrupt and still have my fiancee money! had to call and email all the time, was told lie after lie. I even went to the shop the staff were rude and kept feeding me lie after lie. eventually they agreed to refund the money...this was never done after all the Phone calls emails and speaking to them in person. I ordered jewellry online and paid by card. My account was immediately debited. Nothing was delivered so I phoned and emailed many many times. Months passed. After seven months I entered a legal claim through the small claims court. At the last moment of the time they were given by the court, they paid me my refund. Don't touch them. (read more)

It's a horrible feeling being ripped off. There are two reasons its happened. Firstly - Nuttals are obviously crooks and lack any integrity or business ethic. It's very unfair and you've worked hard for that cash. I sincerely hope you get it back. Secondly - You've been gullible. Sorry to be blunt. Purchased a pearl and diamond necklace in March, found some bad workmanship, returned it to Chester in April, telephoned every day for nearly three months, on the odd occasion when Nuttalls deamed to answer the phone was told lie after lie after lie about my necklace. Nuttalls have now gone bust, I do not have my necklace and they have the piece of jewellery and my £1,200. The same people, are still running several other jewellery companies, don't give them your hard earned money. (read more)

I am owed nearly £700 and the likelihood of me getting a penny back seems extremely unlikely. I sympathise, I found out today that they have gone into voluntary liquidation, I had a letter from Baines and Ernst and like you say the chances of any of us getting our money back is slim. They are dishonest and complete crooks in my opinion.

1 month ago I wrote a review regarding my experience with Nuttalls. By the way they were conducting their business, and giving me excuse after excuse that they couldn't refund me for a product they didn't deliver, I suggested they may be taking as many orders as possible before going into receivership (I've experienced it before). Nutttalls complained and I had my post withdrawn, How right I was!!! The poster is right. The directors will not walk away from this losing money. Only us. They are th--ves of the worst kind.

Can I suggest you all try to get a refund via your bank. We are in the same situation (My engagement ring!!!) Will be long drawn out process but much quicker than waiting on the recievers.

Ask you bank for a fraudulent use claim form.

I so know how everyone feels. I still have one item owed to me by Nuttalls since the beginning of January 2011. I made similar experiences as most of you describe but thankfully mine is not a high value item.
Yesterday, I received a letter in the post advising that Nuttalls have gone into voluntary liquidation and that my outstanding item ranks as an unsecured debt ... So bad news for me and everyone with outstanding claims against Nuttalls.

I am so sorry, it is unlikely that you will get a refund now they have gone into liquidation, I informed Watchdog and Trading Standards of them ages ago, but did not hear anything back. I paid via paypal but as it longer than 45 days ago I cant claim money back from them. It is an outrage.

I can concur with everything you have written, I purchased a pearl necklace in March for my wifes birthday, Nuttalls reckoned it was worth £2,400 and I paid them £1,200. Unfortunately there was several things wrong with the pearls and the stringing so returned the necklace to Nuttalls, they agreed with our complaint and undertook to have it fixed, that was in April. My wife has telephoned them several times each day for the past 9 weeks, she has left dozens of messages and on odd occasions she has actually spoken to someone. They have made promise after promise and broken every one of them. The net result is that Nuttalls have our £1,200 and we have nothing, now they have ceased to trade and the chance of any recompense would appear to be nil.

I purchased my necklace on the 11th December 2010 and it was never received. I have e-mailed and telephoned but they only answer when it suits and basically lie. In March I was told that my necklace was ready but didn't pass quality control and they would make another and I should receive that one in two weeks!!!!!!! I know that it too late now, Nuttalls have gone into liquidation, but my theory is that they only ever had one of each item. A necklace would be despatched to an unsuspecting customer, the customer finds a fault and returns the necklace leaving Nuttalls with the necklace and the money. This would explain the inordinate length of time you were kept waiting, had you ever received the item you would have immediately returned it and the merry go round went on and on. You have to admit that it was a very clever scam but one that would eventually be found out and it looks like it has been.

I have had the same problems with this company, then they went bankrupt in July. Massively concerned now that another company called Globe Jewellery Ltd has now appeared and just so happens to have the same products, website graphics and PO Box number!!! Pass this information on to everyone!!

Myself and my partner know how you feel, NUTTALLS never sent us a ring we ordered last year and held onto our money for 8mths! in the end we took them to court where they were then ordered to pay us back our money. If you dont have any luck with them try www.moneyclaim.gov.uk and sue them like we did, remember to keep a list of everything this company is costing you like phone calls, registered letters, interest your losing in your bank, court fees etc you CAN claim it all back off them. I could not agree more with the reviews on this site and I also wish I'd read them prior to placing an order with Nuttalls. They are dreadful... Goods never received 5 months after the order took place. They don't answer the phone, don't respond to emails and keep lying about the order status. Just a horrible bunch of people, doing whatever they can to hang on to your money with out delivering goods or refunds. Almost impossible to contact and rather unhelpful on the phone. They just spout lies such as " the cheque is in the post" then 2 weeks later I phone up and a different collaegue drops the ball by saying a cheque was never sent and that they don't send cheques. I had exactly the same problem. Eventually I went to www.moneyclaim.gov.uk it is HM Courts on line service. There is a small fee but you can claim that back as well. Good luck.

I found this review very helpful because...i ordered a slave bangle on the 23rd February and have still not received it. Like many others I was told up to two weeks delivery, when I rang the first time I was told they were having trouble with the supplier and that they had a new delivery date of 4th April, needless to say I am still waiting, the last contact was via email and I was told my order was being processed. Today I am going to cancel order and attempt to get my money back. DO NOT RISK USING THIS COMPANY

Hello, my problem is almost identical. October, 2010 I ordered something for my GF's 21st birthday, never arrived, was never even sent. The reason I eventually cancelled the order was due to a staff member called [name removed] being verbally abusive on the phone. Still phoning and e-mailing them all the time, it is now 4th May 2011. Unreal.

It is not sounding very positive about getting our refunds is it? I contacted the British Jewellry Association, (Nuttalls said they were members) but they have removed them from their membership so the CEO suggested I try Trading Standards. I am scouting around on the internet at the moment to try and find some guidance.

The earrings arrived yesterday morning and my wife is extremely happy with both the stones and the quality of the earrings in general.

Purchased a ring from this company at the beginning of February and was assured I would have it by the end of March and like many people I have not received it. Got an email 3 weeks ago stating that it had arrived into the shop but did not pass quality control so a new one was being made. The 1st supposedly took 6 weeks but the new one was going to miraculously take 2 weeks! Look at the review I posted (Name - Tarporley) I explain how I got my order and valuation by contacting ISIS etc there was no cost involved just emails. If ISIS receive enough complaints about Nuttalls they will remove their accreditation!!

I received it a few days later but it was not as I had originally thought it would be so I returned it. I found this review not helpful because... you have to wonder when lots and lots of people give 1 star rating (there not being a No Star option)- then suddenly after a few bad reviews up jumps another 5 star rating all written in capitals again!!! I left a 1 star review and Nuttalls complained to the review centre and asked for it to be removed - it was only re-published when I could prove with correspondence how bad the company had been.

What a terrible company Nuttalls of Chester are.

I ordered some earrings in February and as of now (24th April) they have still not arrived. The communication is a string of lies and it's not even worth trying to get hold of them on the phone, they never answer. It would not be an understatement to say that this company are crooks in my opinion.

I asked for a refund as the goods were never sent, they replied saying their policy was a refund within 2 weeks, so I couldn't have my money back.... (read more)

Ring finally arrived 5 weeks later and I returned it within 5 days (beginning of February) because the quality was appalling. I also wish I had read other people's reviews of this company before I ordered. It has been a complete farce!

Ordered a pair of earrings January 25th 2011. Cancelled order in March after not receiving anything and no comms about why I hadn't received it. Now chasing a refund through my bank which I'd advise others with the same problem to try.

Beautiful ring. Slightly slow delivery.
The special order blue topaz ring I picked up is completely beautiful and much better then the photo. The stone is wonderful.
It is usually only available in 9k (the same in other shops), but Nuttall had it made for me in 18k as a special order.
The delivery was slightly slower than the origianl agreed time when I ordered, but I was always kept updated with its progress and basically it was nothing too drastic.
My ring is beautiful.

I had a similar experience with this company as many other people - a long delay, poor customer service, etc. My order has finally arrived in more than 2 months.

Did anyone have problems with the quality of their goods? I can't see "sterling silver" marking on the item (which is "925", I believe). Where is the marking supposed to be? Am I missing something? (read more)

I found this review very helpful because...of a similar experience. It probably isn't silver at all! I bought a ring from them for £300 which turned out to be so badly made it was unwearable. Im still awaiting a refund two months later!
