“No aftersales service, just fobbed off”

★☆☆☆☆

written by Proctorzd125 on 28/03/2015

I bought a car from them and was promised the bumper would be painted. Came to pick up the car a week later and the work hadn't been done, no mats, it hadn't even been washed. Anyway i had to take the car as i was desperate, when i got home i realized that the locking wheel nut key was missing. I rang them and was told i need to bring it back to get them removed on a week day as the service garage is closed on weekends, i work mon-fri and live over an hours drive away so no help there. I had to take it to my local garage to get them removed (£30) and buy new ones (£20). The car has now developed an engine fault and just keep getting fobbed off by the manager. Promised to phone back but never did. As soon as they have got your money they dont care.

“Horrendous experience, still not over”

★☆☆☆☆

written by JaslynClay266 on 31/08/2014

Horrendous experience, please avoid regardless of how good the deal may look. The change in attitude once they had my money was shocking! Bought a 2011 Insignia (40k miles) - thought it was a good deal at the time, however quickly realised I had been tricked. As I got in the car (un-valeted!) for the first time I noticed one of the keys were broke, I immediately raised this with them and they explained this wouldn't be covered under the warranty! This is where I saw the change in attitude. The car then wouldn't start as they had put NO fuel in it! They had to throw in £10's worth and jump start the car as the battery had flattened when trying to turn it over. I almost cried driving home as that 'new car feeling' had been completely ruined. Drove it home and heard a humming noise coming from the engine - rang the advisor straight away who said he was busy and that I would have to ring back Monday and book it in the garage. Rang the garage Monday and the engineer rudely made me aware that it was a used car and therefore I should expect issues. When I explained what the issue was he said if it isn't causing an issue they couldn't fix it. I decided to get this sorted at my local garage as I did not want them touching my car. A few days later the car wouldn't start, battery had gone! I jump started it, went to work and it died again on the way home. Called him  who said I would need to take it to their garage (which is only open in the week) for an inspection. As I would have had to take a day off work I reluctantly bought a new battery and had it fitted in my local garage. At this point I submitted a complaint asking for compensation, the response I eventually got stated 'I have no idea why you would think you should have compensation' - this says a lot about the companys values! 6 weeks on I have now discovered the car leaks coolant, this means I can't use the car until it is repaired! I contacted him, however he explained that they only have a 28 days warranty and as I am outside of it they are unable to do anything. He was extremely rude and offensive. I asked for a refund as all this car had done is cost me money, however he explained they do not do such a thing and said it was a stupid suggestion! I am now taking legal action against the company as they are not trading legally, as I said above please avoid!

I am really sorry that you feel it necessary to write such a bad review of our company. We have been established here for many, many years and sell in excess of 1000 cars per year with many very happy repeat customers. We strive to give good value and a great customer service but unfortunately on this occasion we seem to have failed your expectations. We did try and resolve your issues and offered to inspect your car to ascertain what had gone wrong but unfortunately you were unable to return the car to our workshop. We did resolve your damaged key as you posted it back to us and we replaced the damaged case with a new one. As you were unable to return the car we offered to refund you the cost of the battery with some proof that the old one was faulty and had not just gone flat overnight. We're sorry that the car ran out of fuel on the day of collection this was a mistake on our behalf and I apologize if this upset you. I do understand that buying a car is a big investment and when things go wrong it can be distressing. I don't understand though how you think we're trading illegally. We are a fully registered family owned company that sells quality used cars, I appreciate you feel aggrieved with the standard of service you got and can only assume that you wrote this out of anger. You are welcome to contact me at any time to discuss your concerns and I will endeavour to try and meet your customer expectations. Christopher Gilpin Customer Services Leeds Motor Company

Totally agree with you Jaslyn. I too had similar experience to you. I ended up spending £2000 to fix my car and was so fed up I traded it in at a £3500 loss.. so it cost me extra £5500 and I am still paying off a loan for a car I have not got. Absolutely gut renching. They take your money and then run. I see their comment below.. what a load of rubbish.. they DO NOT try and fix anything or compensate. If you want my support in legal action I would be more than happy to aid you.

“sales men are rude ”

written by suWade399 on 27/08/2014

Once they have your money the sale's men don't want to know about any problems you might have big or small, kept putting the phone down on me when I tried to complain about things not being right with my £11.000 car you just get treated like poo! Just so arrogant

“SHOCKING BEHAVIOUR...”

★☆☆☆☆

written by eaCollins372 on 07/08/2014

Contacted this company to enquire about a vehicle advertised for sale. I sent an email via thier own website asking if the car was still available before we travelled 75 miles to view it.. I gave my email address but put an unavailable number down as I didnt want to receive phone calls as others have said they bombard you with calls... I had a email > Good morning. Just wondering why you have given a number that is not in service?< I replied with > Good afternoon, just popped a number in that box as I dont wish to give phone number out you have my email address which should be sufficient for an answer to my simple question, which apparently appears to be more important to you than selling an £11,000 car .. < my reply was > can I suggest a shrink? < Why would anyone buy from a company who treat customers in such a way. I suggest giving them a very wide berth.

“I should have gone with my gut feeling! READ THIS!”

★☆☆☆☆

written by NickolasBennett on 01/08/2014

To start with sales guy pleasant and easy to talk to. Taking out for test drive - difficult as not enough staff and I felt like I was being a pain. Anyway decided on a 2010 Mazda 6 2.2 Diesel Estate in the end, they couldn't wait to get the £500 deposit - pushy. Also pretended they had put wrong price on car to let me think I was getting a good deal, only to slyly knock off £300 of the value off the part exchange car I was trading in. Arranged a day to pick up and we agreed the brakes and wheel bearing needed attention. Car not ready on the day. Picked up quite a few days later. When I did pick up, bearing was fixed and they said they had done the brakes. (later to find out the discs have grooves in them and were not sorted and the other bearing needs doing - also paint work not sorted.) but this is least of my problems. Since having this car its been in the garage most of the past 4 months I have had it. First time was back to them 3 days after I bought it. They forced a regen on the DPF as the car had gone into limp mode, and sent me on my way. Saying no come back after 1 month (which I think is terrible) Couldnt wait to get rid of me and no after sales care at all, they could give a damn, bearly looked at me.. Wouldnt give me the time of day..I was a total pain to them.. 4 months later and £1,500+ later the car is still not fixed, now being looked at by a Mazda specialist. I have had to use my parents car for the last 3 months. Can safely say I would never, ever buy from Leeds Motor Company again. They just want your money and then that's it. DO NOT, I REPEAT, DO NOT buy the warranty they offer...its not worth the paper its written on believe me. I think they knew the car had a major fault and used me a poor unsuspecting woman to palm it off. My advise would be to think twice about the car you fancy from this garage and look elsewhere otherwise you could end up like me paying for a car you can't use and paying large sums of money for what in the end isn't really worth it. As I say think hard and carefully and take my advise seriously - you really have been warned.

I made an appointment to buy a car and whilst I waited for the time of the appointment they sold the car. this made me book unneeded time off work for their inability to speak to each other!
