Went to a pub whilst on holiday Scarborough, scalby manor, tried to use a gift card i had been given but wouldn't work, told it was "invalid" so had to use my own money. the meal was fine the staff were good and overall pub was also good, just the card didn't work. contacted m and b dining card services only to be pushed from one to the other. in the end the pub manager contacted me and offered a gift card of the same amount until "guest Services" sort out mine. this came in the form of a text message, i tried to use it at my local crown carvery only to be told the same as the original gift card"Invalid". i then contacted the CEO email, only to get his secretary to reply saying, once again, this had been passed on to the relevant managers and i would have a response in 7 days...... now 15 + days later and no reply tried emailing the secretary but no reply. M AND B DINNING CARD CUSTOMER SERVICES are not what they say they are ....they are more like Avoid the problem services. I did try the original car at a Toby Inn and the card worked so obviously Crown Carveries Dining card readers are not compatible. I am still waiting for someone, anyone to contact me to resolve this problem. Overall i think the customer services stink and ever wonder pubs are closing down at a rate of knots if this is how you treat your customers.

Called at the Moorlands Pub Owler Bar,Sheffield, for our usual meal when we go and pick my 87 yr old mum up for a trip out. Called 0n the 27th May which is a bank hoiday at about 4 pm we ordered our food We noticed a fresh uncut joint of beef had arrived so we thought could be good choice, The two 8 and 10 year old kids went up first one had turkey the other had the remnants of the previous beef. My wife and I had the first few cuts of the new beef, my mother had Turkey, loads of veg and of we went. Half way though the meal we get to the beef,IT WAS THE STRINGIEST, TOUGHEST, HARD GRISSLE,unable to cut with those blunt cutlery knives never mind chew. That was all three plates of beef. Turkey brillient Veg Ok. After the meal I was asked by the Waitress if it was ok,I told here I was not happy with the meat,She came back later and said I should have said something earlier and we could have changed meats,That would have been ok if we had realised ealier that the meat was so bad underneath the veg. We go to the Carvery 4 or five times a month usually exellent not this time. In Crewe there is a carvery Think its called the Old Hall They have taken Beef of the menue Due to the cost and the Quailty of the joints supplied. We should have thought on, but were so looking forward to a roast beef dinner, also being a bank holiday the price is not cheap £7.29.would have expected a lot better than we got.

My parents wanted a family meal here, but I was a bit sceptical being veggie. I couldn't believe the choice though! There were at least 8 veggie dishes to accompany the sunday dinner, which I wasn't expecting at all. (I presumed I'd just have to order a plate of chips, haha!). I ordered Quorn lasagne and it was very nice! Would definitely recommend to friends.

I feel sorry for the writers of some other reviews. The Upper Boat is an excellent place to eat,the staff are helpful and never rude. This despite the fact that its popularity makes it very busy for them at lunch times. The food is plentyfull and properly cooked.Sometimes the portions of meat could be larger, but as the meal is real value for money this is a minor complaint.
