Written on: 23/02/2014 by judithcochrane (1 review written)

We have been going to the Wheatsheaf Inn at Mollington Chester for quite a few years Four of us went on Thursday at 6 30 pm there was only gammon left on the carvery, enough for eight people, some of the veg was finished and there wasn't any more there was fish or sausage but not much of that. The meal The gammon was awful and the veg was dry. It was very embarrassing as the people wetook had never been and we had told them it was a great place to eat… Read Full Review

“Not on a Sunday”

Written on: 18/02/2014

My husband and I have a carvery during the week, and when we went today (sunday) we found that the veg had not changed from in the week it was the same old same old, nothing is any different from the week and I don't know how on earth they charge more for a Sunday lunch. The tables are not cleared or cleaned, for people to sit down. When handed plates to get your selection they feel like they have been washed in potato water. There is no organisation . NEED I GO ON! Could there be a training… Read Full Review

“Worse Day Ever”

Written on: 06/09/2013

Having convinced my Wife and friends that the Carvery in Lee on Solent was better than the Old Ship with it's sizzling steaks, I was to be proved so wrong. Personally I love a good roast dinner, but having turned up yesterday,05/09/13 at 13.30pm, what a shambles. There were not many people sitting down for a meal, but all tables were messy with dishes. My wife cleaned the table that we chose, and I had to ask the chef for some cutlery, because there was nobody else to ask at the time. The… Read Full Review

“Inn On The Sea Lee On Solent shame about the chef / carver”

Written on: 17/06/2013

We have enjoyed dining at Inn On The Sea several times usually early Saturday evenings, bar and waiting staff are cheerful and welcoming but after being greeted by a very rude impatient and intimidating carver we did not return for several months, we eventually went back, couldn't see him, so ordered food, oh dear, out of the kitchen he came even worse than before ,he must be good at his job but his customer service skills are terrible he speaks in a very abrupt manner even carving the meat is… Read Full Review

“No roast potatoes”

Written on: 20/05/2013 by 2Spangle (1 review written)

Just visited the Crown Carvery pub chain at The Pear Tree Bridge Inn, Milton Keynes. Real Ale is either cloudy or full of bits. A group of 10 walkers left their drinks and went over to Guinness! Having been to their Sister pub, the Radford Bank near Stafford on many occasions, we decided to call in for a Carvery here too. Only to be told - on a Monday afternoon - there were no roast potatoes available. A Carvery without roasties? We didn't even bother.....we will be posting to all other boaters… Read Full Review

“The Haywain, Netley Marsh, Southampton”

Written on: 31/03/2013 by teresaanne1 (1 review written)

Easter Sunday lunch we thought we would have a nice carvery and chose The Haywain. We were greeted by the waitresses with friendliness and smiles and they advised us to choose a table, select what we would like to eat, pay and then go up to the carvery. It was 1.00 and less than half full with other diners so serving should not have been an issue. We went with our tickets to the carvery to be faced with a very 'sour faced chef' who said 'tickets', which we gave him and then he screwed them up… Read Full Review

“Lovely....but don't go on a Sunday.”

Written on: 23/03/2013

I went to our local Crown Carvery today (a Sunday) and was surprised that 2 meals, half a cider and half a lager came to over £18. It doesn't seem to be advertised anywhere that the cost on a Sunday is higher than the cost of exactly the same food during the week (it's probably in the small print somewhere). During the week the food is good value for money, with a choice of meat and veg. The staff are lovely and I would definitely recommend.....just not on a Sunday. I fail to see how you… Read Full Review

“Great for veggies too!”

Written on: 08/01/2013 by CharlotteRob1988 (3 reviews written)

My parents wanted a family meal here, but I was a bit sceptical being veggie. I couldn't believe the choice though! There were at least 8 veggie dishes to accompany the sunday dinner, which I wasn't expecting at all. (I presumed I'd just have to order a plate of chips, haha!). I ordered Quorn lasagne and it was very nice! Would definitely recommend to friends… Read Full Review

“Not meaty enough!”

Written on: 21/11/2012 by maneater (1 review written)

I along with my family visited the Bartlewood Lodge carvery near Derby last Saturday evening (17th Nov). Upon entering the premises we were told that the only meat left was Gammon and the excuse given was that they had not been busy in the week so they did not expect many people that night. This is okay if it was a one off but it was the third occasion this has happened which is obviously not very customer focusing. Take my advice if you visit there, take a packed lunch with in just in case… Read Full Review

“Don't Expect Hygene Standards”

Written on: 04/09/2012

I live alone, am in my late 50's, male, and have in the past frequented the Mickerbrook Crown Carvery in Stockport. I considered this to be a cheap way of getting some veggie vitamins that I can't be bothered cooking at home. The food is good value and as such attracts all types, including many old people. That is something you have to accept though they are always first there, and slow moving. I've been driven to write this because today on leaving the pub I stopped next to the serving counter… Read Full Review

“not so happy birthday”

Myself my husband and three children visited your establishment tonight as a birthday treat and took three 3 friends with us. we chose it because we have been there numerous times and have always been satisfied, so you can imagine how embarressed we were when we sat down to eat after queing up for ages and waiting for vegetables to be brought out, only to find that the beef which is normally beautiful was difficult to cut and impossible to chew, even the children had to spit it into a… Read Full Review
