I got my shuffle 2nd generation for Christmas and it's brilliant! It does everything I need it to do.

What is the point in an MP3 player that deletes itself every time you plug it into your computer?
I do not store MP3s on mine as I back them up on to disc but really- no other iPod model has to have the tracks in iTunes in order to keep them; an absolute waste of time. So every time I want to change my shuffle I have to import at least 6 cds that are already on it just so they don't get deleted. I cannot see the wisdom in this feature. (read more)

The Apple iPod Shuffle v1 is dead handy and not in your face. If you just want to put your best tunes in one place and not have to be messing about flicking this way and that, so all you've got is one really good tune after another, then you cannot go wrong with this "littlebigthing"!!!! Simple, straightforward, good colours and not a bad price either

I won this off Review Centre, thanks Review Centre.
It does everything I need it too, simple to use, plays music, that's I need it to do.
Only bugbear is that I can't use iTunes because I'm still using Windows ME. that's Apples lack of foresight, means I can't buy tunes form iTunes, their loss not mine, I now use Winamp to put music on my shuffle and take it off, no problem. (read more)

Basically, if you are a music lover this is maybe the ultimate mp3 player.
I love it because it doesn't have any poncy features like a colour screen etc and is therefore cheap and you can therefore chuck it around.
I love it because I plug it into the PC, take literally seconds to chuck a couple of my favorite albums onto it, then take it off my PC then I can go off for a cycle or drive or wherever and I can listen to music I love without going through menus and stuff.

I'd say the iPod shuffle is a great little iPod. I mean sure, there is no screen but it doesn't bother me and it's not THAT hard to skip to a song that you want. It's ever so easy to transfer songs etc. And, it is awfully small which is good for me. I'd recommend it to anyone who isn't picky about songs and is fairly sporty. Also, the price isn't that bad. Not bad for an iPod.
Worth it. (read more)

I've had the iPod Shuffle for a while now. I bought it at Wal-Mart, and I never had any problems with it. The battery doesn't last all that long and there's no screen, but you don't need a screen to listen to music. The sound quality on this MP3 player is excellent, even with the headphones that came with it. I also never had any trouble with iTunes.
Overall, it was a great buy! (read more)

I got mine later than most. I paid $30 for mine on Ebay for a brand new 512Mb shuffle, because the new "mini" shuffle comes out 10/31/06.
In the past I've had Creative's MuVo and a couple of other varieties I can't remember. Most had reasonable, if not middling sound. This iPod really surprised me. Much better sound without muddy lows and screeching highs. Although the battery in the iPod is internal and not easily changed without going through Apple, my other units ate either AA or... A lot of people on here say bad things about the Apple iPod Shuffle MP3 player, especially about it having no screen. Well, that's why they made the other iPod's! If you wanted an MP3 player with a screen then why did you buy it?
I have just got my iPod shuffle and I'm really impressed. It's so simple. None of those weird buttons that no normal person really uses. I have had one other MP3 player and it wasn't that great. Coming off that one and on to this one was awesome. It's good for... (read more)

If you're the kind of person who would take your iPod wherever you go, then the iPod Shuffle is for you. It's cheap, so you shouldn't be too sad if you lose it. Hey, it was cheap, so just buy another one! It is great for running or boredom. I can really understand what Apple means wen they say life is ... random... The I-Pod shuffle is very simplistic and is ideal to those new to MP3 players because it is easy to use. The shuffle looks attractive and the sound quality is very good. I would recommend the 512MB version to the 1GB because with the latter it could be a nightmare to try and find a specific song in a 300 song libary. (read more)

Very happy with this Apple iPod Shuffle. It was purchased just to have music while working out so for that it is perfect. I've had an iPod Shuffle for almost a year and it's perfect for me. I wear it jogging and walking around, and listen to it in the bathroom (plugged into speakers). It's perfect for jogging because of its tiny size and lack of weight.

I just got my ipod Shuffle. I was a bit worried, not a lot of people liked them. In less then 30 minutes, I had about 30 songs, now I have 51. The download's easy.but, you have to know who sings the song, and what song it is. This is my first mp3 player, also, the sound is great. I have a lot of old albums, they sound better on it, than they do on my cd player. But I don't like that it doesn't have a screen. I highly recommend this prouduct. (read more)

I have only been using the Apple iPod Shuffle MP3 player for a few hours, but I am very pleased with it!
I noticed the superior sound quality straight away, having used other standard MP3 players. It is extremely light and inconspicuous, which makes it highly portable, and the earphones actually stay in your ears.

The iPod Shuffle is incredibly light and possessed of a very good battery life. It just never seems to need recharging. When you eventually need to recharge it, you simply connect to a computer via its USB connector. I didn't want to be tied to a laptop, so I bought a Belkin plug and car charger set ($22 in Wal-Mart). This set also allows me to recharge my other video iPod, so it's worth investing in if you have two iPod's.
Like all iPod's, the Shuffle is very well designed, and is so... (read more)

The Apple iPod Shuffle has excellent sound quality as long as your headphones work, as myself and many of my friends headphones do not work. Also, my shuffle only shuffles sometimes, and the buttons freeze up if I listen to it for too long. iTunes is a nice piece of software, and it is an easy program to use. (read more)

The Apple iPod Shuffle is a great product when it works. I gave this to my 13 year old son for Christmas, and he loved it... for one day. After a day it stopped working (and I mean everything). It won't give a battery status, it won't charge, it won't play... it's dead. I tried finding the receipt to take it back to the store, but it was inadvertently shredded. Not being able to justify spending too much on an MP3 player (when all it really is a fancy music player) I seized on the iPod shuffle, and what a good choice that has turned out to be.
Incredibly easy to use, the iPod Shuffle's controls are perfect and songs are extremely easy to upload and remove. Perfect for someone who enjoys music, but not as obsessively as to need their whole collection on one device. I also like the fact it promotes me changing my soundtrack frequently. It fits... The Apple iPod Shuffle is GREAT! I also have a iPod Photo 60gb, which I love for trips and using with speakers etc... but the Shuffle is perfect for daily use. It's light, easy to carry, and I love the shuffle function because you can put a ton of your favourite songs on it, and it randomly plays them, or you can set it to play from start to finish in the order you specify in iTunes.

The Apple iPod Shuffle is the second newest addition to the iPod family, and does well at what it was supposed to achieve.
At a light 0.8 ounces, the iPod Shuffle is extremely light and portable. It is perfect for school or a good run; whereas other MP3 players are big and bulky, or aren't good for using in certain situations. The Shuffle randomly (or not, you have the choice) picks your music out of the collection (which you should have chosen easily and quickly from iTunes), with... (read more)

The iPod shuffle is great if you have one, or maybe two, compact discs that you want to carry around without a CD Walkman. It is nice and compact but VERY strong. I bought it, but returned it a week later because it wouldn't hold all my music. Another good thing, is that unlike most of the other iPod's, it does not keep breaking, and you do not have to reset it. (read more)

My Apple iPod Shuffle MP3 player has been perfect, and it does everything you would expect.
Most important - the sound quality is fantastic given the limitations of the speakers.
iTunes is powerful but simple to use [maybe the bad review was due to a having a poor PC?].
If you prefer to use your PC as your jukebox and just want maximum portability + sound quality + good battery life, all for less than £100, then the Shuffle is fantastic.

I bought the Apple iPod Shuffle after entering 324 crisp packets on the Walkers website to win an iPod!! No luck? Did anyone get one?
My nephew got bought an MP3 player at about the same time, his had 128MB on it. The iPod had 240 songs on it within half an hour of getting it out of the box, and it has never played the same song twice. I have had my Apple iPod Shuffle for about a year and so far it has done the job that I thought it would do, played music. However I can't say (a year later) that I am still impressed with it, as it seemed to get old very quickly compared to other iPod and Zen models. The 1Gb memory is good, but not great as I can only fit about 300 songs onto the Shuffle and for me, this is not enough. The size of the Shuffle is a positive factor because I can easily keep it in my pocket without it... (read more)

The Apple iPod Shuffle is brilliant! I got mine in about July 2005, and I was kind of mad when I found out that the ipod Nano was being released straight after, but now I realise, there have been complaints about them. I wouldn't want to risk paying a lot of money for one. I stuck with the Shuffle and there is honestly only one bad point. I am a high school student and I take it everywhere with me. I mainly use the Apple iPod Shuffle for running and it's pretty much a perfect companion. Before the shuffle I used to drag around a cd/mp3 player with me and that wasn't much fun. It was big and bulky, it was constantly skipping tracks even though it claimed to be jogproof and the thing needed a constant supply of new batteries. The shuffle on the other hand is ultra light, doesn't skip at all, has rechargable batteries which seem to last forever and the sound quality is excellent.

Time for a scathing attack on the marketing hype called the Apple iPod Shuffle (1GB). For once I give in to marketing hype and I get stung in a big way. I have been searching for the perfect MP3 player for my wife for quite a while now. I did consider the iPod Shuffle, hyped as the user friendly easy to use MP3 player. I find myself loving this mini miracle more and more every day. The iPod shuffle, critisiced by some, adored by others. It hasn't got a huge memory for a library of files, but in reality who actually likes 4000 songs? I certainly don't! I've never owned an mp3 player before. Last thing I had was an over-priced mini-disk player from a few years back. I wanted a good value unit and had liked traditional iPods but was put off by the price. The iPod Shuffle comes along and I decided to give it a go. Only 69 quid for 512MB so seemed like a good deal. In my view, the iPod shuffle is much better than the iPod and iPod Mini. This is mainly because of its size, sound quality and memory storage. I mean think about it, say your going out for a run, would you rather have a small, lightweight iPod shuffle round your neck or heave around a iPod on your belt, which looks silly anyway.
