“Nuance release Dragon wood bugs in it knowingly!!”

★☆☆☆☆

written by 12Ward on 31/12/2016

I have been using Dragon since Dragon 4. About a year ago I bought Dragon 13 premium it has bugs in select and correct commands in Firefox browser. I was told by Dragon 14 professional still the same bugs in select incorrect commands in Firefox. I then was told to use Dragon 15 professional still the same bugs.this is even though on the boxes on the hard copy of the program it says "Dragon works with all browsers i.e. Internet Explorer, Chrome, and Firefox. This is false advertising. I was told today that technical support for nuance will no longer support Firefox at all. this is after a year of being bounced around from technical support to technical support level I and level II without any resolution. Stay away from this product if you can it is terrible, and so is the customer service and technical support.

“Don't purchase this until you have tried it out.”

I happily purchased Edition 10 (no record of this for review) problematic to use- disappointing. The `training commands' and speech merge into the subject when speaking. One finds it quicker to type in misunderstood words, so what is the value of that? Pronunciation of words and `training' of voice recognition is a nightmare However, I like the concept of just being able to speak to the computer and so prevent RSI in old age. If NUANCE get the program right, they could be on a winner. By the way I typed all this by hand. Again I emphasis,

The software is just fantastic! I'm currently using 2 main features of it:
1. Speach recognition from a mic.
2. Speach recognition from a recorded file.
The results are awesome! Thanx a lot to developers for such a great software!

“Here is a copy of an email that I have sent today to...”

Here is a copy of an email that I have sent today to Nuance outlining my purchase experience...

I don't think that I have EVER experienced such poor service from a company. And that's really saying something.

From start to finish the whole thing has been a complete shambles.

1. There is no comparison page on the web site site of the differences between the versions offered:
a. Home
b. Premium
c. Professional
2. So, had to call the Sales line for an explanation
3. The Sales line was answered as technical support
4. Called again. Turned out that "Technical Support" is also "sales"
5. Got the explanation I needed
6. Went back to the site
7. Purchased the Premium Edition - Easy
8. Delivery Options had:
a. International Courier (As it was a UK site, I assumed not for me)
b. DHL Ground (Great "DHL" - Nice and fast)
9. Got an email confirmation with instructions on how to download the software as well
a. Great, as I wanted the software ASAP.
b. Followed the instructions
c. Didn't work
10. Called up Sales again. Sorry. Technical Support
a. Sorry sir, you can either download or buy
i. Why are there download instructions on my email then
b. Apparently not applicable for me
i. (For Reference - I have 3 other major software packages - all of them let you download the software if you have purchased a hard copy. Apparently not Nuance/Dragon)
11. So I ask how long the DHL delivery will take, as it doesn't state that on the "delivery options)
a. A Gob Smacking 7 to 20 Days!!!
12. So I ask how I can get it quicker
a. No problem sir, select "International Courier" and you will get it in 3 days
i. Why wasn't that explained on the site Don't know sir.
13. Can I change my order for "International Courier" or "Download" instead. I don't care about the price, I want it "fast"
a. No sir
b. You have to cancel your order on the web-site or escalate the enquiry
c. Then re-order again
i. You're kidding, I say
d. Nope Not kidding
i. Can I speak to your supervisor or someone more senior I ask
ii. NO, is the answer, you have to speak with me
iii. Well, I've never heard that before
iv. I want to escalate the enquiry I say
e. 15 minutes later I get an email saying "my cancellation request has been forwarded on"
14. So how do I cancel my order on the web-site, I say..
a. On the web site
i. Where?
b. 15 minutes later I find out how
15. So on the web site, I find out that to cancel my order, it sends an email on to someone else
a. The site says that as long as this is done on the same day, no problem and I will get an email confirmation back
b. So I cancel my order by email
16. I now wait for the response from Nuanace/Dragon or hopefully a nice apologetic call
a. I am hoping of course to get the cancellation through ASAP
b. In this way I can re-order and go for the download option
c. Later that day I get an email saying that my order has been shipped
d. No correspondence on my cancelation of course

Now, call me old fashioned. But is that really anyway to treat a customer.

The upshot is that I will have no software for up to 20 days. By which time, it will be too late to submit my conference speech. Doubtless, I will get the software in 20 days and then find out that I can't get the activation code because it has been cancelled and wait another 60 days for Nuance to actually refund me my money!

Unhappy Customer

I found this review very helpful because... I have been trying to get the upgraded version 11 of Dragon for my desktop computer (Windows 7 Home Premium 64bit)
Not understanding the note on their website that states that this version requires SSE2 Instruction Set I telephoned Nuance. I went through 2 lots of options - each lot had five options. Got through to sales. Said I had a technical enquiry regarding Dragon 11. Put on hold for 3 minutes then got to speak to someone whome I could not understand. He told me I needed to download SSE2 instruction set. Talked me through it but I could not understand because of his accent. He then seemed to be telling me that I did not need this software. -Either I need it or I don't.
Still don't know if I need it and found technical support/ sales very unhelpful. Have decided not to purchase after visit to local computer store advised it may not work on Windows 7 even with SSE2 installed. Advised by them to take computer to store and they would set it up. Not an option because it is a desktop computer.
I am even more confused than I was to start with.
Have Dragon 10 on laptop running Vista 32bit - this is not compatible with 64bit hence need to purchase upgraded version.
No mention of extra software required on adverts. This SHOULD be made clear especially because of the high price.

I found this review very helpful because...I too have had appalling treatment from Nuance. Several years ago I bought a copy of Dragon naturally speaking from a 3rd party vendor. It worked well for a while but then I had to reload my operating system after a computer crash. This necessitated re-installing the Dragon software and re-registering. The company refused to do this and when I queried this, I was told my copy of the program was not legitimate. Yet I had bought it in good faith from a reputable dealer. They were unmoved. They didn't care. They would not instruct the dealer to stop selling what they claimed was boot-leg software. They would give me no help. I could go to hell for all they cared!

So that was my experience of Nuance. It is a pity really as it is a really good program.
