Good Points: Brilliantly clear, compassionate, precisely to the point, this book talks directly about the awakened state of mind.
Bad Points: This book may be a bit much for those new to the buddhist understanding of the world.
General comments: Chokyi Nyima Rinpoche, Present Fresh Wakefulness is the second book to profoundly change my life. The first was called Shambhala, The Sacred Path of the Warrior, by Chogyam Trungpa Rinpoche, which led me onto the path of meditation and buddhism. That was over 10 years ago. Last year I read this Present Fresh Wakefulness and it has a similar effect. I've read many buddhist books over the years, but for some reason, Chokyi Nyima's directness and clarity hit home.
I attended a seminar of his held in july in California every year (gomdeusa.org) and was equally blown away by his teachings.
For an intermediate or advanced buddhist practitioner, I would highly recommend this book. I've read it twice already, highlighting many passages as I go. I would also recommend many other books by rangjung yeshe publications, they are always of the highest quality teachings and translations.
