I have hired from most car hire companies in Menorca and have been happy with this company. I found them by chance on a internet search engine and decided to give them a go. Booking was easy. I read, and printed out the conditions so I knew exactly what was included in the insurance. I followed the advice of other reviewers and took photos at all angles of the car after collecting it, but luckily these were not needed. We booked our car on menocar.com, it was cheaper than Owners Cars. We were surprised when we got the mail confirmation to collect the car at Owners Cars. The queue at the airport (Sunday evening) was not so long, only four other people in front of us, but only one member staff. So it took some time ... We used this time to claim our lost luggage ... “Long collection time but clean car & straightforward...”

These guys were cheapest by a country mile and reviews on other websites were pretty rosy so decided to give them a go. However, I think everyone on our flight who was hiring a car had gone with these guys as even though there were 5-6 people on the desk going flat out, it took an hour to pick up the car (I was pretty much last in the queue). “Beware!”

When we picked up the vehicle it took over an hour,and the car was very dirty on the outside, making it difficult to check for damage, then when we returned the car we were charged €150 for a scratch that they said we had put on the bumper. We assured them that we had not done this, but still had to pay. Think it's a scam- a nice little earner every time they rent a car out! We would not use this company again. (read more)

Absolutely the same thing happened to us. Picked up a car on 29th June at Mahon airport and returned it yesterday after 7 days of very carefull driving. Employee of Owners Cars practically homed in on some very minor scratches underneath the bumper at the front. Charged 150 Euros!!! After "discovering" the scratches she didn't bother to look eleswhere and went through a charade of talking with someone else on the phone about it.
This has got to be a scam and people should beware when hiring cars from this company.

“Credit card deposit has not been repaid in full - WHY”

Picked up car from Owner Cars office in Menorca airport on 17 April 2012 for one week's hire. The car was booked from a company in England and apart from the hire charge we also paid a damage excess waiver fee. As it was late signed for the car and told to pick it up from the alloted parking area. There was no one around to check over the car but on walking round it saw there were a few scratches but no major damage so drove off. After a week the car was dropped off at the airport but... I saw similar warning before booking but ignored it. Big mistake! I've had a very similar experience at same location, the lesson is that you should move the car out of the row it's in then have a really good look round, high and low. Photograph & report every mark and stone chip! An extra €150 charge a rental is a nice little earner!

On arrival at Menorca airport I reported to Thomson desk to pick up my hirecar. The operator didnt know the agent the car had been booked through conseuently he complained to me this always happens with the UK not booking correctly. This was resolved and I was told to go to the owners car desk. I was informed of the of the insurance situation and opted to pay for the waiver at an extra 78 euros. Very good customer service and cars in perfect condition. When I travel with my family I have habit to contract with travel agencies including transportation, tours and lodging. Basic problem was the car which was the third allocated to me.First a Seat Leon ,changed to a Ford Focus these cars I check at home to see if we could fit 4 adults +cases and they seemed ok. When I finally got to the desk,after over one hour of queing,I was asked if a Honda Civic was ok well I did not know if we would get all of our stuff in .When we saw the car doubts set in,we could only get 3 medium suitcases in the boot so case 4 sat on rear seat.The main issue was getting into the car... When I got the keys from the desk the documentation showed the Peugeot 307 was in perfect condition. The car however was not. I took the documentation back to the desk and they just asked me to mark the damage myself. I marked 7 bumps or scratches but frankly missed several because the car was parked under cover next to other cars and I am not experienced at doing so. Two weeks ago I went on family holidays to Menorca. We have several friends who have gone and they advised us that booking a car to move around the island, because public transport is not very fast and offers many connections.
We reserve the rental car with Ownerscars.com have a large fleet of new cars, prices are not very expensive and have office and parking at the airport in Menorca and all developments on the island.
