“Worse Gym ever and worse management as well ”

Poor decision - So called new 'Company policy?' To only give out one towel to swimmers with long hair even though membership is not cheap. Surely they can manage a second towel to avoid long wet hair! This is ridiculous. If ones using the gym only, one would be sufficient. Members are supposed to enjoy their visit, relax and de-stress. Dear Member,

Thank you for your feedback regarding the complimentary towel provision at the club.

We are not changing any terms or conditions at the club by enforcing the existing 1 towel per visit rule. Our website clearly states on our clubs home page that a complimentary towel is provided. Whilst we have offered a complimentary towel to you from the beginning of your membership, it is not a part of our terms and conditions as it is a service that we only provide in some of our clubs.

If you require more than 1 towel per visit then we do have an option for you to add an additional towel at a cost of £1 per visit. Nuffield Health launders more than 11 million towels per year at a cost of 3 million pounds and we have identified that on average members use 1.7 towels per visit. We are committed from both an environmental and charitable status perspective to monitor and improve this.

We do however appreciate your feedback and would like to apologise for any inconvienience this has caused you when this change was implemented on-site.

Aylesbury Despite many complaints about the use of mobile phones and tablets by the poolside and believe it or not in the changing room where there are naked children and adults,no cubicles, the staff just do not enforce their policy of not being allowed to use them. “Nuffield St Albans - there are better cheaper gyms”

Nuffield St Albans is a big unfriendly gym. There is very little help available if you need some direction (unless of course you want to pay for it) and it is dominated by very young people (young women on reception and a lot of young men actually in the gym.) For that reason if you are slightly older or are a family you would be best off going to Westminster Lodge in St Albans or Cotlandswick (a brand new council run gym that while much smaller, is bright, clean, welcoming and has everything… Read Full Review

Unfortunately during this time we were undergoing an extensive refurbishment of our equipment and whilst this has improved our offering going forward we are/were aware of some impact to our members during this time.

During this time of transition we tried to keep our members as happy as possible but we are sorry to hear that you still had a poor experience during this time.

Our extensive refurbishment has enabled us to become the premier offering in the area and I do hope that we get the opportunity to have your hospitality at our re-refurbished centre at some point in the future.

“Nuffield Wimbledon”

I went to Nuffield Wimbledon asking about memberships and contracts because I am moving soon and would like to change gym. His answer was so so RUDE. When I told him which gym I frequented he just already said that this is too expensive compared to the other one and that I should not even bother. Like I could not afford it. I think Nuffield Sheffield is over priced for what you get & if you do a corporate membership you only got £5 off which is rubbish in comparison to Virgin. The staff are very polite & friendly & its a great location but classes during the day especially are not good but for those of us that work on an evening that's the only time we can attend. “Nuffield Cottingley - Disappointing”

Thank you for your feedback, which has been shared with the management on your behalf.

We are disappointed that you were not happy with some aspects of the centre and would like to address some points that have been raised.
- With regards to customer service we regularly open up to feedback from our members via surveys. Currently we are attaining our highest ratings for customer service and are very pleased with the general customer consensus. Nevertheless this feedback has been shared with the appropriate line manager.
- Facilities - whilst we note that we had some issues with service repairs at this time. Measures have been taken with our supplier to speed this up and ensure a better customer experience.

I would also take this opportunity to advise of the new equipment coming into the site, this includes new weights, mats for the gym and a refresh of our spinning class studio.
In addition to this we will also be inputting air conditioning into some new areas, within the site.

Once again thank you for taking the time to feed back to us and we hope to welcome you again to the club in the future.

I am very sorry to hear of these experiences. We understand how frustrating it can be to get into your preferred class and subsequently this feedback has been shared with the central Fitness manager. We are trialling a number of initiatives across our sites in order to improve class availability. Similarly we are also constantly reviewing the class timetable to reflect popularity of some of our sessions.

When next on site please feel free to speak to the duty manager or front of house team, with your recommendations and they can then determine if there is anything they can do to accommodate your requests.

I went for my regular afternoon swim today at cheam to find that most of the pool was taken over by children.two lanes where roped off for children's swimming lessons which is fair enough but the middle of the pool wasn't and the duty manager informed me it was a free for all! “Our fees have gone up but the state of the club at...”

Our fees have gone up but the state of the club at letchworth leaves a lot to be desired. The tiles on the shower ceilings have been mouldy for months and the new tiles have still not materialised. The spin drier in the ladies section is out of order again. “Norbury - Good Facilities and Welcoming Staff”

I feel very satisfied with the service I've received so far at the Norbury Nuffiled leisure centre. The staff are on the whole welcoming and happy to help. There is a good range of equipment and I tend to go after 8pm so it's never busy. The pool, sauna and steam room are clean and a good way to relax after the gym. “Cottlingley pool safety poor ”

I see that several others have made similar points and I agree with trussler's view back in July. It is very poor to have a fire exit from the pool permanently obstructed with a chair, towels, shoes, a rugby ball files and a flimsy storage just at the side. This is a narrow exit as it is and is already limited on the outside by rails. It it between two sets of steps from the pool so it likely to be well used in an emergency. The fittness classes booking systems is really Archaic, you cannot book a place for a class a day before, not even an evening before. You cannot book on line, you can ONLY TELEPHONE on the day of the class from 8am. So, if a particular class is popular, you don't stand a chance of booking a place, unless you are poised with your dial finger at 8am. Dear customer,
Thank you for your feedback. We have recently trialled online booking at one of our centres with mixed results. Although it can provide a good user experience in some instances, we have found that it also causes issues with poor attendance, thus limiting the ability of other people to access the classes on the day.
Similarly other companies then have to implement banning systems for serial non-attendees to classes, which we do not want to implement on our members.
I am sorry that you are not happy with our class booking process. This feedback will however be shared with the central office and senior management at your site.
