“Disappointing”

Written on: 02/02/2016 by KinsleyDavis (1 review written)

I went for my regular afternoon swim today at cheam to find that most of the pool was taken over by children.two lanes where roped off for children's swimming lessons which is fair enough but the middle of the pool wasn't and the duty manager informed me it was a free for all! This is very unfair for adult members who are being restricted and priority given to children… Read Full Review

Written on: 14/12/2015 by Highways (1 review written)

Our fees have gone up but the state of the club at letchworth leaves a lot to be desired. The tiles on the shower ceilings have been mouldy for months and the new tiles have still not materialised. The spin drier in the ladies section is out of order again. Many of the chairs in the coffee lounge are falling apart and we now hear the Coffee vouchers for "buy nine get one free" are to be discontinued… Read Full Review

“Norbury - Good Facilities and Welcoming Staff”

Written on: 15/11/2015 by DeeDee222 (1 review written)

I feel very satisfied with the service I've received so far at the Norbury Nuffiled leisure centre. The staff are on the whole welcoming and happy to help. There is a good range of equipment and I tend to go after 8pm so it's never busy. The pool, sauna and steam room are clean and a good way to relax after the gym. I can only think of minor improvements. Some of the reception staff could be more attentive as I have a couple of times waited to be served only for someone else to barge in and… Read Full Review

“Cottlingley pool safety poor ”

Written on: 11/10/2015 by theFireman (1 review written)

I see that several others have made similar points and I agree with trussler's view back in July. It is very poor to have a fire exit from the pool permanently obstructed with a chair, towels, shoes, a rugby ball files and a flimsy storage just at the side. This is a narrow exit as it is and is already limited on the outside by rails. It it between two sets of steps from the pool so it likely to be well used in an emergency. Perhaps HS legislation doesn't cover private member's clubs but this… Read Full Review

The fittness classes booking systems is really Archaic, you cannot book a place for a class a day before, not even an evening before. You cannot book on line, you can ONLY TELEPHONE on the day of the class from 8am. So, if a particular class is popular, you don't stand a chance of booking a place, unless you are poised with your dial finger at 8am. If you are unfortunate enough to be driving or commuting, forget it!!!!!!!!! This system is rubbish, the staff are really helpful so its not their… Read Full Review

Dear customer,
Thank you for your feedback. We have recently trialled online booking at one of our centres with mixed results. Although it can provide a good user experience in some instances, we have found that it also causes issues with poor attendance, thus limiting the ability of other people to access the classes on the day.
Similarly other companies then have to implement banning systems for serial non-attendees to classes, which we do not want to implement on our members.
I am sorry that you are not happy with our class booking process. This feedback will however be shared with the central office and senior management at your site.
Thank you for sharing your constructive feedback on the review centre website.

“Nuffield Sheffield - Budget gym at rip off prices”

Written on: 22/09/2015 by ReesePeterson206 (1 review written)

Since Nuffield took over from Greens gym in Sheffield, it's gone rapidly down-hill. The changing rooms haven't had a lick of paint since Nuffield took over and most of the equipment is battered or broken. Worst of all is that non-members can now book their children into swimming lessons. I didn't join Virgin as it's full of children and Greens used to stipulate children needed to be out of the gym by 5. The female changing rooms and showers are now bedlam between 5 & 6 and it's now like my… Read Full Review

Dear Customer,

Thank you for your feedback. We are sorry to hear that you are unhappy with the gym experience that you have had at our Sheffield Fitness and Wellbeing centre.

Your feedback has been shared with the general manager, in order to ensure he has a 360 viewpoint of member’s feedback about the site. Our recent swimming initiative (in association with the ASA) is part of our steps to improve the uptake of swimming in the general population, however we are mindful of the impact this has on other members and the general manager will use your feedback as part of future review of timetables.

With regards to the equipment we urge members to report faults so that these can be logged and generally repaired within two weeks. In some instances however the engineer will need to order new parts that can subsequently extend the repair window. I would like to apologise for any inconvenience this has caused to your gym routine.

Thank you for taking the time to feedback your recent experiences and would like to once again apologise that you are not happy with your recent experiences with us.

With kind regards,

“Unsafe for Any Child?”

Written on: 04/09/2015 by vpEwing427 (1 review written)

The matter of cameras, and filming inside Nuffield Health at their Brondesbury gym has consistently been raised. Some people, including staff, like to film their workouts, and in doing so, capture other people in the background who do not want to be filmed. This film can later be seen by a global audience, should the people filming wish it to be. There has been a small sign in the gym saying that mobile phones must not be used, but this has never been enforced. The response given by management… Read Full Review

Dear member,

We are very sorry to hear that you and your partner have not enjoyed your recent membership of our Wimbledon health and wellbeing centre.

The general manager and his senior team would very much like to obtain further information from you in order to further develop our membership experience. They would however like to state that, when reported, they aim to repair machinery as soon as possible, unfortunately in some instances engineers will need to order parts that can delay the repair of the machines. In the vast majority of cases equipment is repaired in 1-2 weeks.

With regards to classes we try our best to meet membership needs. Where there is demand we will always try to schedule classes. We welcome your feedback regarding this and additionally have a feedback box near the main cardio to develop new ideas.
If you would like to provide further feedback you are more than welcome to contact Neill (the general manager). He is very sad to hear about this and is very keen on taking further feedback to possibly help you reconsider us for your health and wellbeing needs in the future.

In the meantime I would like to thank you for your feedback and for taking the time to review your experience on the review centre website.

“Rude, Racist and Unreliable”

Written on: 16/08/2015 by 88Waddell (1 review written)

Firstly, Nuffield Health is in a difficult business, trying to meet the expectations of many different people, some of whom may be difficult themselves. Secondly, the people employed at Nuffield Health clubs that the customer meets often tend to be younger, and their behaviour is sometimes correspondingly immature. Nevertheless, there must be an expectation that having paid for a service, customers will get it, and this means that the customer will not get the moods, inadequacies and personal… Read Full Review

“Market Sports - Shoreditch”

We have just been taken over by Nuffield and it's not looking good at all. While they are investing in new machines and decor they are not listening to the members who want to keep their pool chlorine free. Literally no one wants it and still they are insisting on implementing it. So much for listening to feedback. This pool has been chlorine free for many years and is loved by members who travel long distances to 'swim in water like Evion' and also the reason many of us joint this club… Read Full Review

Dear member,

Thank you for your feedback.

As part of our refurbishment program we will be upgrading the pool and shower areas of our new Shoreditch Fitness and Wellbeing site.

Having reviewed the current Poolsan system it was deemed that this did not meet our regulations regarding water quality, as a member of the PWTAG (Pool Water Treatment Advisory Group) we take the quality of our pool water extremely seriously and, as such, the decision was made to update the treatment system and consequently the properties of the pool water.

The general manager, will be happy to speak to you in further detail regarding this and I would like to thank you for taking the time to feedback your concerns on the review centre website.

“Staff attitude terrible”

Written on: 17/07/2015 by Murphyxj46 (1 review written)

The first thing I feel I need to say is if you join any Nuffield gym YOU WILL BE STUCK WITH THEM FOR 12 MONTHS! Staff: quite simply they do not care about you being there. This goes from the very top right down to front of house. They are frosty and bored and they will let you know. No hello or goodbyes, grab your own towel, triple check you are booked on to a class because they will not have done it for you. Small things like that really spoil the atmosphere. However they are exceptionally… Read Full Review

Dear member,

Thank you for your review, I am sorry to hear that you are unhappy with your experiences of the Aylesbury fitness and wellbeing centre.

I have shared your feedback with the general manager of the centre, and she advises that she would be more than happy to discuss your concerns face to face in order to improve your gym experience. Additionally, your feedback regarding the staff has also been taken seriously and fed back to the senior management team at the centre.

With regards to the men showers, they are separated, bit indeed do not have doors. This is common policy across sites and is down to maximise space for other facilities.

Nevertheless this constructive feedback has been shared internally to consider in future centre upgrades.

With regards to the classes, we continually canvass membership to determine optimum time to do the classes. We have previous held classes outside of peak hours; however, due to lack of demand, they have had to be subsequently cancelled. If there is flagged demand during the next customer satisfaction survey (held every six months) this will be reviewed.

Thank you for taking the time to review your experience on the Review centre website and we hope we can better serve you going forward.

Hi,

Thank you for your reply.

Could you please explain what "other facilities" Nuffield where making space for when they decided not to put doors on the men's showers? Surely the only thing REQUIRED in that space is a door.

“Nuffield Health Cottingley”

Written on: 17/06/2015 by Octavio365 (1 review written)

I have been using this particular gym on and off for the past few years, and I feel that although it has improved in some areas, the main issues are still not being addressed. Gym: Most of the gym equipment is outdated and needs to be replaced as it looks very tired and worn. I was pleased to see that the centre recently bought a new set of dumbbells for the free weights area, something that has been long overdue and hopefully will be the first of many new investments to come. Hi,

Thank you very much for taking the time to feedback your recent experiences of our Cottingley Health and Wellbeing centre.

This has been sent to the general manager of the site and fed back to the department heads, with particular reference to department heads associated with the areas critiqued.

There should always be a duty manager to give direct feedback regarding concerns over site maintenance. In particular if the changing rooms are messy our team will be at hand to immediately tidy. For reasons of privacy our clean teams limit their times in the changing rooms at peak time, which sometimes inhibits our ability to pick up discarded towels etc.. When possible we do feedback to members, but as you can imagine tidiness/ cleanliness etiquette is generally maintained when a member of staff is around.

In addition to the above I would also like to advise that we welcome your feedback on the general facilities and ask our members to give continual feedback on the standard of services when we send out member satisfaction mail outs. We then identify the next set of upgrades based on the trends identified from our members.

On behalf of the Cottingley team I would like to thank you for your constructive feedback and hope that going forward we better meet your needs as a member.

With kind regards,

Ben

The safety aspects poolside are poor too. I went Sun am and the two lifeguards were together up one end chatting for over 45 mins. The fire exit that is already narrow as it is a single door had the chair in front of it that is always there plus shoes, folders etc blocking the door way. There is also a lightweight storage unit near the exit now that could easily get knocked over if a lot of people headed for hat exit. The end of the hoist was only 2 ft above the kids pool. Tiny safety mirror for jacuzzi and sauna area pointing at the floor. None of this feels very safe.

This place is not a health centre of any kind, period.

It can double up as a set for a prison gym and almost 90% of the equipment is still the same from Pinnacle "Commit to get fit" days. The obnoxious management in-charge try to fool regular members by re-arranging things and in the process screwing up everything e.g. the thicko playing lego with equipment does not understand Health & Safety and there is at least one big accident waiting to happen.

There are at least 4-6 machines (including Elliptical, Rowing and Treadmill) out of order at any given time and let's face it nobody has tried to replace them for last 17+ years - why start now? There are small little things like carabiner clips costing 50p missing which make £1000+ cable setups completely unusable, benches are like hens teeth, dangerous cheapo cast-iron weight plates with no-grips etc. Honestly, the list is truly endless...

The ancient air-conditioning system in this place is so unique that it would be so much better if it was not used at all i.e. blows cold(er) when it is freezing outside and goes mental in hot weather thus increasing risk of injuries. You could easily do a circuit based on the zones that are have dank, mouldy, musky smells, as there is NO cleanliness around here and 100% chance of picking up wrong germs in right seasons. The water fountains on the 'gym' floor are decorative fixtures as the management want you to buy protein shots or sugary drinks from the grumpy ar5eholes at reception to line their pockets and boost sponsorship revenues.

The (cess)pool is only good for promo shots as it gets shut down regularly, but you do get a text message almost once a week with the information. Don't use their linen and bring your own. As for the nursery; if you love your kids - don't bother! Parking space used by coaches so the tired tourists can relieve themselves - unbelievable and probably illegal! You need to arrange your own entertainment as the TV/Monitors are extremely limited and once again not all of them work and 50% of them are tuned to the rubbish Nuffield channel with local ads.

The lads running the show are onto a winning strategy as it means less footfall if you fall ill regularly by visiting this 'gym', more money and zero effort required.

Most of the staff are unhelpful, outright rude and/or racist; who take pride in spreading their own brand of ignorance. The zombie McJobbers walk around with no care about enforcing any etiquette on curlbro's (cnuts who use a squat rack for bicep curls) or anything else for that matter. However, they are very interested in perks like: bulking up their payslip with BS 'personal trainer' sessions and getting a freebie membership for being 'staff'.

I will not go into the dirty changing rooms, filthy steam room etc. but anybody who gives this place a good rating is either getting high on their own supply or some kickbacks from the management are involved.

Caveat emptor.

Dear customer,

Thank you for your feedback, which has been shared with the general manager of our Stoke Poge's centre.

We appreciate your opinions with regards to certain aspects of the gym as we are always looking to improve the quality of service we provide our customers. With regards to the cardio equipment we will ensure that the things that you have raised are looked into at the next service inspection.

Additionally with regards to choice of channels on our TV’s, a member of staff should always be available, on the gym floor, to assist with this request. We will be looking to increase our presence on the gym floor in the coming months to better assist with this going forward.

At present we ensure that at least one staff member is on the floor at any time for health and safety/assistance purposes.

Nick, the general manager of the site, is more than happy to speak with you in more detail about the things that you have raised. He and his team of deputy general managers are always looking at ways to improve our customer experience and keep our longer term members happy.

Thank you once again for taking the time to review your experience on the reviewcentre website.

Thank you for your feedback. I am sorry that the cleanliness of our gym was not up to standard. Over the last 12 months we have invested significant amounts of money improving the cleanliness of our estate and recruiting 'clean teams' to keep the sites looking good throughout the day.
