Don't believe the glowing reviews.. Customer service is pretty bad- Am still awaiting delivery of two items one i ordered two weeks ago and was delivered to the wrong address, another product 5 days ago and has not arrived either. They state delivery times as 2 or 3 days, when you call to chase up you are given an explanation of delivery times taking up to a week and also 14 working says to report missing- so more like 3 weeks. Because they don't have it in stock. They list themselves as cheapest, but they don't have the item. Why this isn't illegal I do not know, but it does untold damage at Christmas when you are waiting for gifts to arrive for your kids with no chance of getting them in time. This is a scandal. Worse still they do NOTHING for you directly as a customer when you contact them, but come on this review site claiming that they care. If they employed the hapless individual who comes on this site to say they want to help actually in the warehouse ordering what they say they have so they have it in stock, us poor ripped off customers wouldn't be on here complaining. I'm STILL waiting for them to resolve my case. Thank God for Reviewcentre.com.

You have been ripped off because they did not have this item in stock. That is how they operate. They list themselves as the cheapest but they don't have the item. You are left waiting and Christmas comes and goes. When you try to contact them, they ignore you. When you complain on here, they come offering apologies. What a way to run a business. Scandalous.

Thanks Seanhunter1984 for your response. Glad to know I'm not the only one who's been frustrated and annoyed by this. First time I've ever known a CD take so long to arrive, having ordered from other sites I mistakenly presumed they were all the same!! Item actually arrived this afternoon - 21 December 2013. I haven't even bothered to contact Base, because I just felt I would be fobbed off with excuses and my life is too short to go through the hassle!

I wouldn't be so worked up about it lowlady but for the fact that I was getting this item for a young boy's Xmas present, a young boy who doesn't actually ask for much and I was ashamed to let him down. I suppose I should have been suspicious that their price was so low, but the worse thing about this was it was so near to Xmas there was hardly time to get a replacement and my credit card was maxxed out with the money they'd taken. I buy and sell things on the Internet occasionally myself, and I wouldn't dream of treating someone like that. Good luck with getting either your money back or the item off these guys and merry Xmas.

Hi Seanhunter1984. I'm so sorry about the disappointment of a young boy at Christmas. As I wrote in my previous message the CD was delivered on 21 December, so I do actually have it now. It's for my son-in-law and he has a birthday in January, so it will do for then. I'd already got him some other gifts, as well as money, so he shouldn't feel too hard done by. I wish you, the young boy and family a joyous Christmas and nothing but good things for 2014. King regards, IOWlady.

“AWFUL - The "sell" items not actually in stock - AVOID”

Had the most awful experience with this company. Basically they "sold" an item that they did not have in stock. They had listed it on Play.com as being far cheaper than the alternatives in order to grab the sale - but they didn't have the product. After stalling by saying there was a problem with my credit card (there wasn't - 5 phone calls to the credit card company confirmed this) they finally admitted they didn't have the item. UNBELIEVABLE. I spent the best part of 4 days trying to get you to "investigate" this and all you did was pass the buck, blaming Play.com. You sold me something you didn't have in stock and you didn't give a damn about the inconvenience, lost time and the extra cost of having to find a different supplier later. Your customer care was ZERO and now because I have made my experience public on here you NOW claim you want to help??? Pathetic. I hope my experience warns others from using your service and being so misled and badly treated like I was. If only you had dealt with my problem as quickly as you've jumped onto this board for some desperate damage limitation! WORST EXPERIENCE I'VE HAD IN 15 YEARS OF ONLINE PURCHASING.

You had every opportunity to deal with my problem privately and directly but you left me high and dry. If you cared so much you'd be actually dealing with my complaint (it's still "open" as far as I know) but IU can assure you and everyone else reading this that that's not happening. That's why I went to a review website - to make sure other people are aware of my experience and hopefully help them avoid the mistake I made by shopping Base.com. We're not talking a great deal of money, just precious time wasted in the run up to Christmas because you are advertising stock you do not have. I asked and asked and asked for help and clarification and got zero concern in return. Perhaps you should spend less time making a public show of caring on a review site and spend more time dealing with customers problems directly as they arise. I am very, very angry at the way I was treated - both by yourselves and Play.com as you passed the buck back and forth. It was abysmal and I'll stick to Amazon from now on.

Just to finalise this: I waited all week for Base.com to get back to me and sort out my wasted time and wasted money but she and no one esle did - even though someone from Base.com has been busy on these boards pretending that they care. They reply to these boards, but they don't reply to actual emails you send them. I can see from the latest reviews that this is the way they operate, and I only hope that no one else has suffered at the hands of these people the awful inconvenience of presents not arriving in time for Christmas. Thankfully, Amazon saved me at the last minute. Personal advice - don't ever, ever use Base.com, don't be tempted by the low prices. I can offer anything on the Internet if I don't stock it... but that wouldn't be honest would it? Ever have the feeling you've been cheated?

Purchased the USB Drive 2 weeks ago on Wednesday and I still haven't received it. I have spoken to customer services twice and they have said I have to wait until Wednesday to declare the item lost and then they will send a replacement. I don't understand how an item like this can get lost in the post when a laptop I purchased from amazon arrived in 3 days. I placed 3 orders last week, to Amazon, Scan, and Base. Both Scan and Amazon were delivered on time, and provided a much better quality of service. I even changed my order with Scan after placing it, with no issues whatsoever. Base, on the other hand, sent me 1 automated email - telling me that I had placed my order.
