“Last choice carpets”

We order a lounge carpet and lino for three other rooms,paid in full,over four weeks before arranging for the goods to be delivered and fitted. Empty rooms,cleaned and arranged for the new sofa to be delivered the following day. Half the carpet fitted, still waiting for the Lino to be complete in one room and sealed in the other rooms. No information from the staff as to when they are coming back. Called into the shop, manager was rude and then requested we come back later for a refunded... (read more)

i have to say i was 100% satisfied with my lounge, hall , stairs and landing carpet that i just had fitted , i had a quote from carpet right first and i have to say i didn't like his pushy attitude to get a sale,as well as the price he quoted me, then i went to 1st choice carpets and i have to say the salesman that dealt with me was brilliant and wasn't pushy at all, and the price i got was so much cheaper than carpet right which i found funny as carpet right was suppose to have 60% off, and... well where do i begin? firstly got my quote wrong and cancelled my order and fitting date without informing me (floor to be layed is in a shop so had to close for the day)after re ordering a different product we got the mighty Mike to measure we were given a date, we empty kitchen and shop area for a monday 9am start , guess what they dont arive delivery van in accident (?) then later not delivered then product still in Nuneaton fitter turns up at 2:30 bunch of t##@$>S DO NOT USE (read more)

i was a bit reluctant to go with 1st choice carpets after reading a few of these review's, however after talking to the director who works at the shop, he did say that unfortunatly they did have some bad fitting team's that they got in, but after hearing about these complaint's, they no longer work for the company, and he did ensure me that they are now happy with the fitting team's they have, and i have to say we had no problem's with them whatsoever, very polite, helpful, and did an... I had carpet and underlay fitted today, on time, excellent service very curtious carpet fitter it looks great. The whole experiance has been straight forward from visiting the well stocked store, discussing our choice with a very knowledgeable manager, agreeing a delivery and fitting date. I will be purchasing carpets in the new year and will definately be using this company again. Well done and thank you.

1st CHOICE CARPETS IN DEVIZES - don't purchase anything from them or have them to fit your underlay and carpets. they damaged the wallpaper in my hallway in several places bringing the carpet and underlay in. I have had to fill in the dents with polyfiller and then repaint over them. Luckily I had some paint left, but I could have done without the trouble of having to do it all. the fitters were totally inexperienced and had obviously not had any training in fitting carpets. I have had many carpets fitted over the years and never had such a poor service as I've had from this carpet company. They kept their outside boots on whilst trying to fit the carpet and stood on the new clean carpet as they were trying to fit it. They had several problems in trying to fit the carpet which, to any other knowledgable carpet fitter would not have been a problem at all. I will not recommend this company to anyone - you've been warned! Don't buy anything from 1st Choice... (read more)

STEER CLEAR of 1st Choice Carpets. They are rude, disrespectful and cannot fit carpets! They all need to learn how to fit carpets properly: they came to fit ours and were fooling around. We got the impression they were making it up as they went along as they had no idea of fitting carpets. They are NOT professional and don't bother to contact you when they say they will. Pleasant service, helpful from the start, very approachable and knowledgable.

When i had my whole house fitted they moved furniture and replaced it back when it belonged, they were courteous and on time. I couldn't fault the service i received and will be recommending them to everyone. (read more)

I recently purchased a carpet from 1st Choice Carpets in Devizes, I had my whole house done and found them to be knowlageable, polite and of a great standard. Thought the whole process from choosing the carpet to the fitting of the carpet was simple hastle free and profesional - they even gave me interest free payments. I don't know anywere else that does that.
Would recommend them to eveyone I know. (read more)

DO NOT BUY FROM 1ST CHOICE CARPETS. Bunch of cowboys: tried fitting my carpet, said my concrete floor was too hard for them to get the grippers in. Parts of carpet uneven, as if underlay rucked up, cut top of carpet with stanley knife when trying to cut out cardboard( they had placed the cardboard on top of the carpet!) Three fitters (supposedly) turned up age about 18yrs, messed about when trying to lay carpet. Did not lay it all as they damaged it & the backing. they quickly rolled... (read more)

Of course concrete can be to hard so u stick gripper and marking backing wont hurt unless it goes right through and u can mark the top of the carpet with a knive or a finger nail its just the pile it will rub out and they probably ran off quick be for they lost there temper because you were moaning about nothing and yes im experienced 18years in the trade and no i dont work there i have my own place to run please dont come to me

I purchased a carpet from 1st choice carpets in Devizes costing £700. Three carpet fitters attempted to fit the carpet with spray glue in some places instead of using grippers: it's Hessian backing. Carpet dipped down and was uneven at the fireplace, they cut some cardboard on top new carpet & cut in the pile of the new carpet in several parts with a Stanley knife. I had my hallway and kitchen fitted with vinyl and my stairs and landing fitted with carpet (inc underlay). Two fitters came and did a fantastic job! (Gripper rods were used on the carpet.) The quality of carpet and vinyl supplied was as ordered and great value for money (cheaper than Carpet Right & Carpet Barn). The craftsmanship and accuracy of the fitters was fantastic.
