“Merry Maids of Croydon”

Written on: 10/05/2013 by Julie27

I am extremely pleased with the service that Merry Maids provide to me. They are courteous, extremely professional and thorough in their work. I have a deep clean once a quarter and a regular weekly clean. As a working mum of three, it has make a real difference to my week! The owner is very efficient and always a pleasure to deal with. Thank to Merry Maid of Croydon, would definitely recommend. (read more)

“I Couldn't live without Merry maids of Stafford!”

Written on: 07/05/2013

Merry Maids of Stafford visit my home on a 4-weekly basis and I couldn't live without them! They send two ladies who work efficiently and to an exceptional standard. They do high dusting, tops of kitchen cupboards, skirting's and change the bedding if I leave out new linens for them. They even move our beds & sofas to clean behind too. All the areas I find hard to reach are cleaned on every visit and the deep clean rotation on each room means that I don't even have to spring clean my home... (read more)

“Merry Maids have made my life easier”

Written on: 07/05/2013 by WorkingMumof2 (1 review written)

I work full time and have a busy household with children and pets. Merry Maids help me immensely by keeping it so clean so that I do not need to spend time cleaning myself. I spend this time playing with my children and doing the fun things that we should be doing as a family. Obviously, I still vacuum occasionally (my daughter is a fan of glitter at the moment) but Merry Maids come each week and my house looks like a show home. I get the same team each week and they've just given me a... (read more)

“Poor Customer Service from Merry Maids of Croydon”

Written on: 21/01/2013

The cleaning service varied significantly depending on who was cleaning our home. The cleaners tended not to stretch so the shelving, light fittings, interior windows were not cleaned at all. Radiators were not wiped and neither skirting boards. We were promised a deep clean each week that never happened, well, the cleaners did not seem to know which room there were deeep cleaning from one week to the next. The cleaners were exteremly nice people by the way. The contract I had with Merry... (read more)

“Merry-Maids Slough”

Written on: 11/07/2012

Do not hre this company! I hired them to clean my 4 bed house in Maidenhead and had to hire someone else to do the job properly after they left. They didnt do half the things they agreed to do and the bits they did do was very poor standard. I found limescale hadn't been removed, the skirting boards not cleaned, bathroom walls and floors not wiped, marks on walls were left, black marks on carpet too. When I addressed this with the Manager, she became aggressive and said she would not... (read more)

Unimpressed with the delivery of the service (promise more than is delivered in my opinion) and they are overpriced in my opinion too. I used the Chelmsford branch. I think there are much better value for money companies who do as thorough job

“complaint being ignored”

Written on: 08/02/2012

I recently used Merry Maids which I have to say was a very disappointing experience, had to call them back the next day and to be honest still not that happy, they even broke something in the kitchen and left lights on in an empty house. they have also not fulfilled their promises to me as it was sold. I have sent a letter of complaint which so far has been ignored. I will be taking this further, perhaps to trading standards but looking to also take it to the Parent company - can only... I have used Merry Maids for a number of years and have always been very happy with the service. Any additional small jobs are carried out no problem and I know if there are any problems i can get in touch with the owner and these will be rectified. The cleaning is second to none and of the same standard every time. Although not as cheap as having a 'lady who does' I find that the way that the cleaning is done and the fact they are fully insured gives me peace of mind. I would throughly... (read more)

Written on: 08/11/2010

My wife and I are about to take legal action against Merry Maids for damaging our carpets via spillage of cleaning liquids throughout our house - our carpets were only two years old but without exception, all rooms will require replacement. The cost to replace is in excess of 15,000 pounds. As for being "fully" insured, in our opinion the word "fully" is not qualified. Fully insured, according to Merry Maids insurers Aviva, means that carpets damaged are not replaced on a new for new... (read more)

wow, surely the answer is, do it yourself. I'm amazed at the content of the review. It's called household contents insurance for a purpose. I am, in no way connected with any cleaning company, but still find your review extreme. Poor service agreed, but from the contents, I am not surprised they have failed to attend the site.

“Do any of Merry Maid's customers ever talk to the...”

Do any of Merry Maid's customers ever talk to the cleaners about their pay, their holidays, perks of the job, because if you did you would realise that they are working for a pittance, average wage is £6 an hour, no other perks, they do not pay your NI or your tax, you have to do it yourself. Merry Maid still get paid every month by the customer. If you are hired by them you are told where to go and when, everything else is up to you. If you need support they are not there for you, as long... (read more)

As an employee of Merry Maids for nearly 3 years i do beg to differ. Yes I said employee therefore my ni and tax is paid for me and I do recieve perks such as an annual bonus, and shockingly yes I also recieve 28 paid holidays every year...so regarding the previous post I do believe you have been miss informed, finally obviously not wishing to publically discuss my wages on here but again your infomation is incorrect

As an owner of a Merry maids business I know the comments expressed are incorrect. There are over 100 business's in the UK and in all business's the staff are part/full time employees of the business. I pay my employees tax and employer/employee national insurance directly to inland revenue. Full time staff receive 28 days paid holidays per year.
I am always available to advise/assist my staff and provide regular training updates, including health and safety, to ensure my staff perform their role with minimum risk to themselves.
My staff have received direct offers from temporary clients, which they have declined as they appreciate that working for a company ensures they are supported when required and fully insured when they are working.
New members of my team are supernumery for at least 4 weeks as I recognise that it takes time for them to integrate with the other team members and also to develop a relationship with our valued regular clients.

Response to Rosemary64...I have worked for Merry Maids for 6 years working 2 days a week and receive 3 and 1/2 days holiday per year not including the bank holidays I think this seems low, I also get no annual bonus.
