Came to GiffGaff 6 years ago but decided to leave and return to Asda Mobile 1 year ago. At the time of joining I thought that GiffGaff were great, and had 5 years of good service from them. Certain things bugged me, like the account page of their website (which you use to select your 'Goodybags'/bundles) as it's pretty childish and clearly aimed more towards younger teenagers. The 'Community' section where you could seek help & advice on network issues was also a nuisance as any query you posted tended to get 20-30 responses, mostly users copying suggestions that had already been made in order to gain 'Kudos' - the more 'Kudos' a user got, the more talk/text/data would be added to their account. It meant that the Community was largely pointless as it was full of kids vying to get a few pence extra in phone credit. Call quality and network (O2) reliability were fine in the first year or two, but as time went on, quality decreased, calls would often drop-out, and there were various unannounced service outages in the town in which I worked. GiffGaff also sells phones which are overpriced compared to what's available elsewhere, and after a particularly poor purchasing experience with their parent company O2, I decided to quit GiffGaff and return to Asda Mobile. Asda's bundles are not quite as good value for me, but their network reliability (EE) and customer service more than make up for it.

If you want any useful assistance after Giff Gaff have taken your money then this is not the company for you. They can't even change a phone number over to a different SIM without the too difficult light coming on and their appalling customer services means I have to wait 5 working days for this to happen. Very unhappy, but it's ok they have my money so what do they care.

Close my account because the Data only lasted three days put some Top up credit into my account just a few days ago has I have moved cannot claim very small unused credit, I think this is bad PR and they have lost more in bad feelings that they have saved, much less likely to be a returning customer found to too difficult to receive the help before moving, Better too look online for others deals, Only had a few issues but it has made me more and much last likely to be a returning customer. Poor for data use, Was told because only light user to reduce the goody bag that it cost me more, Found too difficult to recive any real help left giffgaff on a sour note and not be returning customer. look for better deal and real customer service, I think its bad PR not to return a credit thats not been used.

Hello. I was new to GiffGaff. I was looking for a plan that would allow me unlimited data. I am currently a Three user and paying £15/month for unlimited data. Lately, I've been having problems with Three and decided to GiffGaff's goody bag a try. I chose the £18/month with unlimited data. What I didn't realize was that I unlimited data was restricted to the device that's using the sim card. Unfortunately, this plan does not allow tethering to another device, whereas Three does. I've tried to tether to my laptop as I am not able to access internet in the building in which I live. A few times, I've received messages from GiffGaff that my internet would be suspended for 30 minutes as a punishment for tethering. Today, I received a message that I would no longer be able to purchase their unlimited goody back because I've violated their terms and conditions. I'm quite disappointed, as I use my laptop for my work and I need to tether to mobile broadband. GiffGaff has given me an option of purchasing one of their goody bags that limits me to 5 GB of data. I would go through this quite quickly as I download from Youtube in order to use in my presentations. I also found out that I can never contact someone directly. GiffGaff always identifies itself as "The GiffGaff Team" or "GiffGaff Community". I'm usually very leery when I receive messages from anonymous persons or individuals who do not wish to identify themselves. I've become distrustful of GiffGaff Luckily, I haven't cancelled my contract with Three. I will not be returning to GiffGaff and hope that their lifespan is a short one; or at least until they change their policies on tethering and unlimited broadband. I may try a Virgin sim as they along with Three allow tethering.

When GiffGaff works they're great. However, they very often don't work. I've just told them where to stick their service. I was on the unlimited data plan and got fed up with being told I was using a device tethered to my phone if I used the internet for more than 5 minutes. They will kick you off their system for 30 minutes if they accuse you of this, which I can understand but according to my phone's data usage mapping I use less than 10MB per day, hardly extreme useage. Either way I'm off to Tesco, who have roughly the pricing structure, also run through O2 but use 4G which GiffGaff don't. It's a shame as GiffGaff used to be a good provider, they've turned themselves via their own policies into a not fit for purpose joke.

Giiff Gaff do not have unlimited internet ( 3G only not available until April 2015) also 4G is available 500mb 1Gb 3GB or 5GB (Tethering is authorised on theses data allowance)

Is it at all conceivable to you that you're commenting on a review written 8 months ago at which time Giff Gaff had different plans? At the least the reviewcentre staff removed the abuse from your comment so you come across as slightly less deranged.

My address has been used to fraudulently order a phone from giff gaff. I am not a customer of theirs and the person who ordered the phone (which was intercepted) does not live at this address. It was very difficult to send a message to the customer services as there was no relevant drop down box. They do not have any phone lines in order to keep costs down so reply took 24hours.Inevitably I have more questions which will take another 24hours for them to respond to, as the initial question is classed as answered so a new question has to be created. I do not know what other phone companies do in this situation but Giff Gaff have no plans to do anything unless the police contact them.

This network crashes all the time. I've been patient with it for 2 years but now moving to another network. The inconvenience caused by losing connectivity frequently and continual technical problems is not worth the supposedly competitive pricing. My Giffgaff app hasn't worked for months and despite submitting error reports I have had no response.

Product: Giffgaff £15 per month for 400 mins, unlimited texts unlimited data. I have been on GiffGaff for 6 months. At first I was very happy with the service (especially the price). The network did go down a couple of times, but I gather this was an o2 problem, and I was only mildly inconvenienced. Since then, I have had my data cut off 3 times. They say this is for 'illegitimate usage' The first time, fair enough - i left my torrent program running and downloaded about 2gb over the network - oops! I got a warning, then they cut me off a couple of days later. (again, for downloading about 1gb over the torrent network). After that, I switched the 'wi-fi only option on, and assumed I would have no more trouble. Last month, I got another warning. I did not understand, as I had not been doing any heavy downloading. I kept an eye on my data usage, and carried on as normal. However, a couple of days later my data was barred. On both these occasions, I contacted an agent, and to be fair was reconnected within 24 hours. Again, a mild inconvenience. I could not understand, as I really do not download heavily. The only thing I could imagine it was, was tethering. I occasionally turned on my hotspot to allow my girlfriend to browse the internet on her nexus 7 when we were out and about. However, this data usage was probably far less than 50MB. So this month I have not tethered or downloaded more than 100MB using my torrent app. Surely it would not happen again? Sure enough, a few days ago I get another data warning. I really was struggling to find out how I was breaking their terms and conditions. So I stopped doing anything except web browsing. Yesterday I got barred again. I contacted an agent yesterday morning, and asked them to explain why I kept getting cut off. I explained I have 2 independent data usage monitoring apps on my phone, and they reported under 1GB of usage in the last week, under 2GB in the last month. All of it quite spread out. On average, I use about 100MB a day. I made all this clear, and asked if there was another reason I kept getting barred (my CCTV camera app connecting to unusual ports, ditto my torrent app maybe, the vpn I connect to sometimes?) If they told me, I could stop doing it! Their reply (which took over 24 hours) was just a generic message telling me I had high data usage, and advised me to cut down on my data! They also did not acknowledge I had even been barred, and therefore could not reconnect me! Do they not have access to my account or data usage stats? The agent obviously did not read my question at all, and it ended "thanks for your question customername" They could not even be bothered to replace that with my name in their automatically generated message! I messaged back saying they had obviously not read my message. I did not mind really, I just wanted my data back on. That was 6 hours ago. I still have no data. I'm not holding my breath for a reply. I have stopped my recurring goodybag, removed my debit card details and requested a PAC code. My advice? They are cheap for a reason. If data is important to you, and you use your connection for anything except basic web-browsing, spend an extra tenner, and go for three's 'the one plan' Truly unlimited data. I am still shocked that they can advertise this plan as 'unlimited data.' I have downloaded 2GB in just over 3 weeks and been cut off. Incredible.

Giff Gaff although cheap, is very unreliable. There are numerous times when service has been unavailable so texting and phoning has not been possible for the whole days. The apology given a few days later is not really of any use, especially if you were unable to depend on it in an emergency situation.I have read this is because it cannot cope with the increasing number of members it is accepting.

I waited 2 weeks for a sim to come! It is impossible to communicate with them and they sent me a message saying i had used 90% of my 500mb allowance but it was reporting i still had 233mb left on My giffgaff balance page! I'm leaving, don't waste your time...

Since around February 2012 I have been a giffgaffer! As a fan of the hit tv show The Big Bang Theory, I was introduced to the network and thought it offered fantastic and affordable deals. I pay £5.00 a month, and that gives me unlimited texts ( one up on o2 who have a limit on their 'unlimited texts'), and free calls to giffgaff members( however I only have one friend who uses giffgaff). I have also used the blackberry messenger add on (bbm) for a further £3 ( £2 less than o2 offer- absolutely fantastic. As I am a student its essential my phone 'contract' isnt too expensive. HOWEVER- I DO NOT reccomend this network. Topping up your phone, or renewing your goody bag requires the giffgaff website. The website is difficult to understand and not clearly signed on what to do. The website had crashed numerous times since I have been a memeber, which is costly if you need to top up and cant- you can lose your texts/calls/web. As I've recently moved, my phone is essential in making arrangements to meet up with family and friends. My texts and calls have crashed more times in the few months I have used giffgaff than the 8 years previous that I used o2. There have been many occasions where I have made plans, or due to have family over, but my phone will not send/recieve texts or calls. Im sad to say I will be changing back to o2 when my texts run out in the next few days. If giffgaff had less hiccups or crashing I would absolutely go back, and reccomend, however until then my advice is stay away from giffgaff!

I joined up to Giffgaff in May & was very happy for about 10 days. My number was changed really easily. Then one sunday the internet went down. I checked the settings & they were right. I asked the community & all I got back was the settings (which I had said were correct), no actual help. So I asked an agent - less than useful - he said they were a sim only company & had I checked my phone. He also said it may be the sim, but didn't offer to sent one & to change sim I would have had to pay to top up on a new sim. The internet came back about 4-5 days after it went down (proving it wasn't my phone), but only lasted 2 days & now won't work at all - unless I'm on my home wifi. Very unhelpful. Not an easy website to use. If you're not technically minded, don't go there, you won't get help.

My son got me the SIM the first goodybag gave me 250 minutes as they say - purchased my next goodybag what did I get - yes £10 value = not the 250 minutes that I was expecting. To pick up my voicemail is a nightmere, it keeps telling me that I have to change my PIN, but it won't allow me, then I am charged for that. Dont think I'll be staying with them much longer.

So I was on giffgaff for 12 months. What a struggle it was. I had a magnitude of issues, from calls going straight to voicemail when the phone was in range of perfect signal, to text messages not being sent, to mobile data being unreliable and slow. Customer services are not reliable. They have a team of web-based customer services agents in Northern Ireland and India. They promise to reply to your account related enquiries within 24 hours, however in my experience they often took around 48 hours to reply. When a reply was received, it was a standard copy and paste reply which in some cases do not address the problem at all. Payment system is unstable and has caused myself and others problems. The apparently cheap prices are not worth it. With my new provider, I actually get 200 minutes more and the same amount of text messages and mobile data than I would for the same price on giffgaff. Sure, I had to sign up for a 12 month contract to get this. But unless you're looking to change providers each month, signing up for 12 months is not a big deal. My overall summary; giffgaff is a great concept which sadly has been poorly executed. I would reconsider using giffgaff in the future, but for now, I feel I am better off with another network.

Well I have been using Giffgaff for 16 months and its been a mixed bag, firstly the customer service is very poor 48hrs still no reply, secondly they have just bared my data without any warning, The service was blocked after I downloaded a film to my phone 700mb, Now I had a goodybag which advertises unlimited internet which is not true so be aware of that too. Another problem I had was with activating a sim for my daughter it took over 3 weeks this was in January, no reply from agents nothing. The pricing is excellent but if you get a problem keep your expectations low.

my wife read the reviews on giffgaff and decided to change over from o2 thinking she was getting a better deal out the envelope they promise 250 mins unlimited texts and unlimited internet received sim topped up etc set up her blackberry 9780 as per instructions she is still being charged for texts and calls ive been with o2 since it was bt cellnet both on contract and pay as you go and basicly there hard to beat my self i think giffgaff is just over rated hype promise this and that and deliver nothing waste of time and top up

Having read your review, it would seem that your wife only topped up.
In order to get the 250 minutes, unlimited texts and internet, you would need to convert your £10 top up to a goodybag.
Had your wife actually bought a goodybag, I am sure your review would have been 4 possibly 5 stars.
