There is a very tight deadline once you have applied for the funds so if there are additional queries the underwriters need answering, try to answer them by having any paperwork you think is likely to be relevant (paylips, bank statements etc) ready in advance. be near your computer or a fax machine. I didn't plus had a young baby to look after at the same time so it was slightly stressful. However the lady dealing with my application was incredibly helpful, polite and patient. I cannot... I earn a good salary but like most people have used a credit card for various items etc.. But paying the credit cards off has always been an issue with the APR.. My 2 credit cards since Nov12 has increased the APR twice!! I wanted to consolidate my debt but using a High Street lender proved difficult due to the Stupid credit scoring that they have!! When the Banks are the very worst with Credit Scores being downgraded by Moodys and Fitch Ratings losing their AAA rating! ZOPA have come along... (read more)

Apart from the excellent rates on offer, the whole process is very simple and straightforward. I applied on a Friday afternoon, got a call on the Monday and the money was in the bank on Wednesday. APPLIED FOR A £6000 LOAN WITH ZOPA AND THEY CAME BACK WITH A REFUSAL WHICH ACCORDING TO THEM MY CREDIT CHECK DID NOT ALLOW THEM TO GIVE ME A LOAN. I really liked the idea of Zopa - borrowing money from real people and getting a better rate. I was pre approved for a loan which meant that it would go to the underwriters to make a decision. I beleive Zopa are only a small company with around 23 staff so was happy enough to wait a few days. Once you are pre approved you get a message saying the underwriters will make a decision - most places on their website say this can be sorted in a day but could take up to three. As you mention in your review, we did indeed experience a high level of demand at the beginning of August, meaning a slight delay in our turnaround times.
