“Third time unlucky. Buyer Beware”

Written on: 05/06/2017 by 229Lyons (1 review written)

This is the third time that Copart have stitched me up with misleading info. The first time the runs and drives van got me less than a mile out of the Sandy depot before the engine chucked all the oil out, which cost me another £1200 on top of the £800, the second time the photos were showing lights and harness but when arrived were missing which cost another £200 on top of the £3100 already paid, Wolverhampton said the car should have been checked before the driver took it away,I pay the… Read Full Review

My first time using copart. Sandtoft depot. Completely horrible staff . Opening hours are worse than my local shop . Meant to be a multinational company ? Can only pay cash or mess about with forms and head office. Not helpful at all. Charged me storage because it was Easter weekend. How are you meant to pay for the items when you are closed ?? Good afternoon,

Apologies for the delay in responding to your message.

Although you have not provided a specific example, we are sorry to hear about your dissatisfaction with Copart.

We always strongly recommend that you physically view Lots prior to placing bids, as it is important that you are satisfied with the condition of the Lot you are bidding on.

The Lot information is provided as a guideline only, for your convenience, and not as a substitute for a physical viewing and/or further research.

If you do have a specific example, please contact the facility the vehicle was purchased from with as much information as possible, and we would be happy to look into this further for you. Contact details for all of our facilities can be found on our website under the 'Locations' tab.

“Car collection service”

Written on: 16/03/2017

We had arranged for our car to be collected by Copart as the cost of repair exceeded the value of the car. Date and time of collection arranged, however when I rang Copart on the morning of collection to clarify payment process, I was told that there had been a problem with a Barclays online banking for the past couple of days and that this was still the case, therefore payment would not be transferred electronically at the point of car handover. Hi dyReyes171,

Sorry to hear you’ve been left disappointed with your Copart experience.
The vehicle details we list are to be used as a guide for buyers. It is the responsibility of the buyers to complete further research on the vehicles before bidding in the auction. This is clearly stated in our Terms and Conditions.
Please bear in mind that Copart predominantly sell used and salvage vehicles, therefore whilst every effort is made to describe a vehicle in as much detail as possible, it isn’t possible to describe every detail of the vehicle. That is why we always recommend that a buyer views a vehicle before bidding.

If you could provide specific examples on the information mentioned above, we would welcome the opportunity to investigate these further.

Please contact the facility that you purchased from with as much information as possible so we can look into these for you.

Contact details can be found under the ‘Locations’ tab on our website.

The Member Protection Pledge eligibility timeframes clearly state that if

“The vehicle’s odometer reading is less than the most recent mileage information available from the DVLA and/or HPI” that this should be mentioned at the time of collection/delivery.

Disappointedpensioner1950's Response to AnnOnu's Review

Written on: 18/11/2016

How very true and correct --they are misleading people as a matter of normality ,no one, with even a modicum of savvy, expects a car auction to inspect and give a thorough description of every blemish scratch and catch ,it's primarily,or supposed to be ,a salvage auction however,,the problem arises when you have them advertising to BUY motors with known mechanical problems which are then inserted into their own auctions ,unannounced as them having a vested interest / profit motive ,in a particular car-and with the difficulties with the vehicle either undeclared or deliberately vaguely described as mechanical .Any motor dealer doing the same thing would be hung up by the heels by trading standards .These cover their tracks when dealing with the unwary by making sure that no log book is available with any motor they want to burn someones fingers with, relying on time removing them from all pain .It's a shame really that a few avaricious individuals have managed to ensconce themselves into a position whereby they can not only catch people in a wholesale manner financially whilst hiding around the back of "Your resposibility to carry out your own viewing first" ,but have also given so very many people ,looking to buy a cheap motor , the raving hump with their bumptious self belief in their own invulnerability. I personally have spoken to two researchers from different tv shows dedicated to exposing rip offs by these sort of characters and they both started frothing at the possibility .Watch this space basically and see what transpires, greed is invariably its own worst enemy, and I cant see this being any different
