Well, after a couple of issues with my bank, I had 2 direct debits returned with First Utility. Remembering I have been an Energy customer for over 25 years, and have been with them for 18 months, astonished to receive:- A threat letter :- This will involve them calling you or visiting your home. If unsuccessful, they will get a warrant to enter your home and fit a prepayment meter or cut off your supply, both of which may cost you money. “NEVER AGAIN”

At first no problems switching but when we moved house & had to go with other supplier that's when problems started. First Utility closed our account sent us cheque as we were in credit then harassed us with emails, debt collectors to get money back even although they sent email confirming it was their mistake & that we did not owe the money. “Never had an issue”

Been with first utility a good while now. My DD is the correct amount for how much I use l, my questions have been responded to in a timely manor. My bills are cheaper than anyone else can match. Don't see what everyone else is moaning about. It's sad that when people experience something good they will do little to write a review but have a bad experience and they are the first to leave multiple reviews slagging companies off. “Avoid!”

For some reason they ask me to submit a meter reading every month, despite the fact that they send a man round every month to read it anyway! On top of that he leaves the door unlocked every time, despite me making a complaint. The last straw was when I had to get up in the middle of the night to stop the door from banging in the wind. “shockingingly bad!”

I ceased using gas in June 2014, final gas read to this company the following month, I retained electricity supply til November whe the deal ended then moved to Extra Energy for my fuel. At the changeover I was owed 529 pounds for overpayments made to First Utility - it is now December 2015 and zero amounts have been refunded to me. “Not even worth 1 star but cant submit review without.”

The worst company I have ever had the misfortune to deal with, I moved to them from British Gas and had nothing but problems from day one. I was never able to access my on line account and was forced to cancel in the end for fear of getting into debt as I had no idea how much energy I was using. Nearly 18 months after leaving them they have finally managed to produce a final bill claiming I owe them money despite previous emails claiming that I had paid everything I owed. I have at present a case manager, in the employ of First Utility, who today finally acknowledged the meter removal. This is after a lot of back and forth over the year and various false promises and statements made by them regarding a refund. They even sent a man out to read the meter. The worrying thing for me is that I now face the situation without help from the energy ombudsman as they will not entertain scenarios which are established more than nine months previous. I am flabbergasted, the truth is if I had owed them the money I would have found myself in court som

“still taking direct debits”

I switched from First Utility last month, at the time I was around £400 in credit. I expected them to refund me this money but to date they have not and when I received my bank statement this morning I find that they are still taking £85 per month from my account. I telephoned them but was still listening to music on the line when my call went dead after 20 minutes waiting. “customer service abysmal, impossible to leave!”

I left FirstUtility a year ago and despite contacting the home movers department and giving them my final meter readings, I continued to be billed and even threatened with damaged credit ratings by an external agency. I have spent many hours queueing or on hold, listening to the same 30 seconds of dreadful music on a loop, to be falsely assured that the problem will be resolved. “nightmare company dont use them”

This company are a nightmare you cant get to speak to anyone and after hours on the phone trying to sort stuff out it hasn't been done so you have to ring back. They will over charge for your account then you cant get it back they are a complete nightmare mostly because you cant get through to anyone to sort stuff out it takes ages just to find the phone number. “ FIRST UTILITY keep away you have been warned ”

I was a first utility customer for a year until I found a cheaper supplier and switched, this is when the problem started they are incapable of final billing you correctly i have called and called waited for hours to speak to some one to request a final bill and confirmation of the rates this bill is being issued at no still not received. Came across from scottish power massive mistake,they gave my previous supplier a estimated reading,which resulted in me owing them money when in fact the property was being renovated and the gas and electric was off. “Left them 18 months ago and still being billed!!”

Appalling customer service and continuous errors for the duration of the time I was with them. I left first utility in July 2013 and they are still billing me every month. I ring them and they promise it will be rectified so no more bills then next month I get another bill. Totally infuriating and when you ask to speak to a manager not one will speak to you. “Thinking of switching? Don't”

When I switched to FU my old supplier supplied incorrect details of my electricity meter (which had been replaced by a new one). It has taken over a year to stop FU charging me on the basis of estimates and to accept that I have a different meter. This has only been possible by contacting the Energy Ombudsman, whose instructions FU at first ignored, and then my Member of Parliament, when they finally took notice. “Customer Service Zero”

This energy company needs to get its act together. If they can't deliver they should not be in business. I have had threatening letters that say I owe money when they owe ME money from nearly a year ago. I have gone over to another provider which is very good but still I get letters saying I owe FU money. “Beware”

I joined FU because of their supposed low prices and more importantly, the promise of a smart meter. My house was empty because of refurbishment for 8 months. However the meter reader only took an initial reading from one of my meters, although he took a note of the other at my request. I also photographed meters. Then the fun started.
