“still taking direct debits”

I switched from First Utility last month, at the time I was around £400 in credit. I expected them to refund me this money but to date they have not and when I received my bank statement this morning I find that they are still taking £85 per month from my account. I telephoned them but was still listening to music on the line when my call went dead after 20 minutes waiting. “customer service abysmal, impossible to leave!”

I left FirstUtility a year ago and despite contacting the home movers department and giving them my final meter readings, I continued to be billed and even threatened with damaged credit ratings by an external agency. I have spent many hours queueing or on hold, listening to the same 30 seconds of dreadful music on a loop, to be falsely assured that the problem will be resolved. “nightmare company dont use them”

This company are a nightmare you cant get to speak to anyone and after hours on the phone trying to sort stuff out it hasn't been done so you have to ring back. They will over charge for your account then you cant get it back they are a complete nightmare mostly because you cant get through to anyone to sort stuff out it takes ages just to find the phone number. “Atrocious Customer Service”

The worst Utility Company I have encountered by a mile. Have to wait for hours to get through their phone lines and then be fobbed off by jobs worth customer service team. “ FIRST UTILITY keep away you have been warned ”

I was a first utility customer for a year until I found a cheaper supplier and switched, this is when the problem started they are incapable of final billing you correctly i have called and called waited for hours to speak to some one to request a final bill and confirmation of the rates this bill is being issued at no still not received. Came across from scottish power massive mistake,they gave my previous supplier a estimated reading,which resulted in me owing them money when in fact the property was being renovated and the gas and electric was off. “Left them 18 months ago and still being billed!!”

Appalling customer service and continuous errors for the duration of the time I was with them. I left first utility in July 2013 and they are still billing me every month. I ring them and they promise it will be rectified so no more bills then next month I get another bill. Totally infuriating and when you ask to speak to a manager not one will speak to you. “Thinking of switching? Don't”

When I switched to FU my old supplier supplied incorrect details of my electricity meter (which had been replaced by a new one). It has taken over a year to stop FU charging me on the basis of estimates and to accept that I have a different meter. This has only been possible by contacting the Energy Ombudsman, whose instructions FU at first ignored, and then my Member of Parliament, when they finally took notice. “Customer Service Zero”

This energy company needs to get its act together. If they can't deliver they should not be in business. I have had threatening letters that say I owe money when they owe ME money from nearly a year ago. I have gone over to another provider which is very good but still I get letters saying I owe FU money. “Beware”

I joined FU because of their supposed low prices and more importantly, the promise of a smart meter. My house was empty because of refurbishment for 8 months. However the meter reader only took an initial reading from one of my meters, although he took a note of the other at my request. I also photographed meters. Then the fun started. “OUT OF THEIR DEPTH”

Put simply, great prices let down by amateurish office operations. Cant answer simple questions, don't have supervisors, don't have managers, don't have team leaders, and don't have much interest either. Didn't know who was the MD, or the CEO. They both need the sack for presiding over such a mess. Public scrutiny on the BBC WATCHDOG programme doesn't seems to have any impact at all. “Worst Company on the UK”

First Utility are totally inept. Totally messed up my account never answered emails, or letters. Try to call them first night 82 in queue, next 92, in queue next 45 in queue. Finally they sent a debt collector company to me even though I had asked time and time again for a final account. Paid the debt company there and then, they gave me a £50 discount for all the inconvenience. Three month later received an email saying that I owed £50. Went with First Utility as they came out cheapest, what a mistake that turned out to be! I originally opted for monthly set payments as with my previous supplier. “They are cheap in every respect”

This company does offer better than average energy prices but their customer service is the worst I have ever experienced during many years of dealing with utility companies. I have now left them mainly because I got a better deal elsewhere but I was strongly influenced by their dreadful customer service.
