Good Points: Multi-region, macrovision-free, pal2ntsc / ntsc2pal conversion, all possible outputs available, microphone, internal dd and dts decoders, svcd subtitle/audio compliance, also supports svcd menu , 100-240V power handling.
Very good picture quality (1. class laser), HDCD, MP3 compatibility, plays all known cd formats
(CD-R, CD-RW, DVD-R/RW, DVD+RW) (DVD+RW), also copes with VCD,SVCD,XSVCD)
Video mode: RGB, SVBS and YUV.

Bad Points: No power off on remote and the lack of a JPEG/photo viewer

General comments: This Nintaus N9738 has to be the lowend, unbeatable DVD player based on value for money simply because it has every current feature availiable. The chips used inside it are the finest presently available in any brand (Zoran/Audio).

Audio sound is exceptional for a DVD player, especially because the internal dd is a rather good one. Music is much warmer than other's - more like a dedicated CD deck. Movie audio is faultless.
Very good Mp3 reader: Play's all folder's however each folder has to be selected for menu display or only first folder will display while it plays all. Very good VCD 2.0 reader: Play's all folder with select and go function.
The picture is good especially because of the 1. class laser used in the DVD-player.

If the Japanese part of your family comes to visit, the Nintaus 9738 Silver also has all nessesary Karaoke functions, so you all will be able to sing along.

It has a very good remote control and a user friendly interface. The user manual is easy to understand and written in english with instructive pictures or diagrams. Last, but not least, this slimline model has a great design, so the dvd-player looks good in your livingroom.
