I used Paul Simon (Croydon) for the first time in October last year (2012) as they were offering the curtain (made to measure) we wanted at a much cheaper price than many well-known dept stores. The sales person lied about the thickness of the internal linings used in the curtains. I have been oversold associated finishing and the track was not compatible with the curtains. Simply beautiful. Had ordered a pair of curatins from another company online had all the blah blah but didn't deliver a good product at all! I needed a new bed as was moving and wanted something bigger, on entrance to Paul Simon Edmonton the staff were friendly and very helpful, the advisor who i think is in charge of beds took me upstairs and went through all questions about how we sleep and if we have any back injurys etc which was really helpful as apparantly different mattresses work better for different ways that you sleep. Ordered a bed chest of drawers and a wardrobe, bed was delivered with black scuff mark on it mattress had hole in it, two days later chest and wardrobe delivered incomplete and damaged chest had wrong screws couldnt fit handles screws too small, wardrobe had only screws for one handle, and interior of both doors scratches on them. Well I seem to be among the myriad of people with complaints. I ordered two single electrical adjustable beds with fitted headboard. What a mistake. The staff do not know about the products they sell. When the bed and headboard arrive it proves to be a physical impossibility to fit the headboard to the bed. Replacement headboards ordered and received, and yes guess what they cant fit either. I am now on a third order which was expected this week, and yes, they are not delivering. I might get my order next week if I am lucky. So now I am writing to the Directors of the company for those who need names.. For the rest of you, don't buy at Paul Simon

The most unpleasent experience ever! Bunch of lyers! I have no good words left. I bought carpete for my house. I gave the dimentions to the shop that I measured myself. My builder told me nbr of steps on my stairs. I trusted the shop assistant who calculated the amount of carpete - she appeared to be 2.2m wrong. When our electric chair stopped working after less than 2 years we knew it was out of warranty but expected some support from Paul simon in finding someone who could handle the repair. Not a chance. Just gave us the details of their warranty company, who couldn't even be bothered to reply and PS weren't interested in helping. So we are left with expensive but non functioning furniture. Poor service from Croydon: I ordered a sofa and 8 cushions (4 to go with my other similar sofa). Two problems. First, the delivery men scraped sofa leaving dirty mark on sofa. Second, only two cushions delivered. Numerous phone calls, obviously me calling them, nobody ever called back. I paid for it all in November and sofa delivered in January and for two months the cushion saga continued. Got sent more - they were SMALLER than the first two (the covers were too small for the inside cushion) so were like bricks. And no piping and badly made. To cut a long story short, and lots of phone calls, photos and visits from someone representing the manufacturing company, and yet more small cushions later, we took the lot back to the Croydon store. The manager (HA more like poorly trained i---t,) said he would take the cushions but we would have to wait for a few days for our money back!! Luckily someone else (maybe an area manager?) had managerial qualities and she toldl the "manager" to refund our money. Still got the dirty mark - I would rather put up with that than do any more business with such a useless bunch of people.

I is a four door wardrobe where one side had one shelf and a railing and other got one sheld, railing and few small shelves. “Disgusting illegal behaviour”

Whilst in dispute over the standard of work in fitting - their fitters scrapped our walls running the paintwork and hid it behind a sofa - they initially refused compensation, then attempted to say it was for me to deal with their fitters, and finally they took money from my account without my permission. “Worse customer service ever!”

The product that I received from Paul Simon to be fair was of a good quality. However the customer service was absolutely diabolical. Firstly the carpet fitter cancelled on the first Saturday I was promised that it would get fitted. On the second Saturday it was timetabled in, I was informed after 10am after ringing them up to find out where the fitter was that the carpet fitter's van had supposedly broke down. “Sofa damaged, was sent out engineer who destroyed it more”

Bought 2 sofas the same. One was not right so it took 3 months for 1 engineer to come out then he totally tore the insides apart and left with the bottom hanging off. It took another 3 or so months to get another engineer out who was disgusted in the repair plus could not put it right. My sofa insides are held together with mainly nails as on the joints there are knots in the wood that have cracked. Paul Simon has only been selling carpets for just over a year. They dont know what they are doing and make mistakes. Even curtains are not the same size when they come out the packet. How true, I will never buy from this retailer gain, their customer serivce is appalling and their hidden charges dishonest. Wish I'd read this before seeing a carpet Iiked in the Milton Keynes Store, they had someone come out to measure the stairs and landing, he was here all of five minutes and was unable to confirm square metres or pricing, instead he rang me later and gave a total price for the carpet and underlay we bought, but when I did the sums it didn't add up, they offered 'free fitting' which meant we took £35 off their total charge and paid the carpet fitters direct after paying Paul Simon upfront. When the invoice finally came there was an additional charge of £50, £25 of which was a delivery charge that had not been mentioned at any time and more insulting £25 for the 'stairs fitting' charge which we'd already paid the fitter direct for. When I raised it with their head office complaints department I was told these charges were on the posters in-store advertising the so called free fitting and that at no point would it have been relevant to mention these additional charges to me at point of sale...funny that, as they made sure they mentioned that I had to pay the fitter myself. What a poor excuse for hidden charges that they know would send customers straight out to Carpetright, which is where I'll be going next time for sure and I suggest others do the same.

Fully agree, on their site it states delivery 21 days, I purchased a bed frame and mattress and a sofa mid. Nov 1012 its now 1st Feb 2013 and have only received the bed frame which is still in its box as I am still waiting for the mattress and the sofa. I have to chase it up all the time, they do not phone you back, when they do arrange delivery the sent to the wrong part of the country, they do not accept liability on anything, they take your money and sod the customer!

Went to buy carpet, hidden cost for free fitting is you need to buy underlay. OK. Then to get the carpet fitted, you must pay extra hidden cost to have old carpet removed and disposed, which is more than the fitting charge. Do Not buy from here! We bought a bed only to find that the legs do not fit correctly was unable to get a refund, they just kept on sending parts. They insisted that there was no fault and would not listen just got fed up in the end as the oaf salesperson we discovered was not even putting in requests for the manager to contact us. The bed make is Napoli, In addition to the above the bed we originally saw in store had the legs attached and the bed we received had detachable legs. We were told that they had changed the design and that there was nothing that we could do about it.

Bought 3 curtain poles but needed only 2. Tried to return one and was told has to be within 7 days. Because of the public holidays they agreed to give me a refund if I went there today. Drove a round trip of 25 miles and was told they can't as I do not have the till receipt although I presented my credit card receipt. I will never visit this shop again. Customer care is zilch. Trying to return a curtain pole was agony. First it has to be within 7 days of purchase. Because of the public holidays they agreed a refund if I went back today. So I made a round trip of 30 miles to try and get a refund. I did not have a till receipt but have a credit card receipt. The lady who sold us the goods was there but not helpful. What a waste of time. Never again.

I ordered 3 made to measure blinds end of Feb, paid half the total amount, was told it will take 3 weeks, then they tell me the fabric is out of stock and due in end March, I phoned today and they said they still have no clue when the fabric will be available. I ordered sofas on 27 December 2011 from the Paul Simon Orpington store. I was promised a 6 week delivery and after 8 weeks the sofas were delivered - the only problem they were the wrong size, colour and make! I have since been trying to organise getting the right sofas delivered - Paul Simon have excepted responsibility but after 4 months I still have no sofas. I purchased some curtains a few months ago when they were hung up at home they looked terrible threads hanging off everywhere, hems not stictched, thin just horrible and did not look like the ones that were hanging in the store. I returned them only 6 days out of the 28 days warranty and they said they had flaws not faults? and would not refund. I then went through to customer service email and had such stupid replies they do not have any customer care skills or curtain making skills it would seem! Ready made as they put it

Ready made curtains are mass produced from large bolts of cloth and it is not possible for each pair of curtains to be individually inspected which will always result in a certain amount of loose threads and minor imperfections which, nevertheless, can be easily rectified and cannot be considered as a manufacturing defect One of the reasons that made to measure curtains are so much more expensive is due to the fact that much of the finishing touches are done by hand

So you can expect faulty goods from them becauses they are ready made!!!!!

Anyway have now been in contact with Trading Standards and have written directly in with my complaint and will be going to watch dog with all the emails and the curtains.

Terrible curtains terrible service - never buy from them again and will not leave it until I get a refund!!!

bought 4 venition blinds, put them up and found 2 were bent. Phoned shop and they said bring them in, which we did. Immediately we were surrounded by three staff and tried to show them said blinds. The assistant manager said she could not see that they were bent so of course the other staff members said they could not either. Ordered two pairs of made to measure curtains. Empire: Alpine, Velvet. with Thermal linings and weights. What I got was badly made curtains, sewn with nylon thread, blackout linnings, and the material was seconds, and there we no weights in the hems. “Go elsewhere, whatever you do, go elsewhere....”

We have had a torrid time with this quite dreadful company. Working within the legal system, I am very familiar with the laws of libel, and so, bearing that in mind, I am completely at ease in saying that this company have a woeful regard for the safety for the visitors to their stores. “Customer Service”

They call it customer service but you dont get any. This is the worst company that I have ever ordered from. If you order on line they will not take your call on them lines, you have to email. I ordered a bed and a mattress, the bed came after 25 days the mattress had to be chased, and in the end we have to get the couriers details. “Mattress which developed fault after 11 months: replaced”

We bought a A Comfortex memory foam mattress from the Norwich Branch just over a year ago. The memory foam appeared to "lose its memory" after 11 months of use! We called at the Norwich Branch to explain and the staff were very helpful: asked us to take photos of the mattress and email to them. It was decided from the photos alone that there was a fault and they would arrange for it to be replaced. “Appalling customer service”

We bought a bed in in Paul Simon around six months ago and it was the most expensive bed we have ever bought, a Sealy Enchantment superking. It soon developed indents where we lay something we had never experienced in any bed we had before. They accepted it was faulty and offered a replacement. We wanted a refund but they flatly refused even after a letter to the Managing Director. I arranged a estimator from Paul Simons to measure up and order made to measure curtains. They came within 6 weeks, but the curtains were uneven throughout the house, but the fitter still put them up hoping i would not notice. I was furious, i called up the branch i ordered from and they took 3 weeks in deciding what to do, exactly what THEY should do but completing forgetting that i'm the customer here and paid for MADE TO MEASURE curtains. “Slow”

Very slow to deliver. If I knew it would take over 2 weeks to get ready made curtains delivered I would have ordered from someone else - it's just not the norm these days to wait so long for an online order. I ordered bedroom curtains from paulsimon.co.uk on the same day as ordering lounge curtains from another website. The lounge curtains came within 3 days, and I'm still waiting for the paul simon curtains after 16 days. (read more)

Store in Southall/Hayes Generally helpful sales person (Sanjeev). Knowledgeable. Committed to a delivery date that the bed company couldn’t honour but many telephone calls later it the mattress and bed arrived on time. Qualit of Divan looks great and found the service from Silent night mattress amazing. “Terrible customer service, AVOID at all costs”

I firstly had problems in store. Bought some itmes in different colours and specifically asked about returns. I was told it was OK to return so long as they goods were still sealed and I had the receipt. I returned to the store after 10 days and was told they would not refund after 7 days and only offered and I should have read the notice on the desk, but why didn't they tell me when I asked? I Bought a bed from the colchester paul simon store (sleepezee all seasons ortho). I Found the sales person ( Jason) very helpful. Hed had very good knowledge of his products and was not too pushy like some staff in other shops like dreams. I have ordered and paid Paul Simon Croydon over £2,000!

I now wish I spent triple the price at John Lewis. Paul Simon is the worst shop I have experienced in my life. All staff are rude, aggressive, incompetent and lazy, EXCEPT for one or two people!

I spent nearly £800 on curtains, waited more than 6 weeks for them to arrive to which they were all wrong!

Shockingly poor customer service. I wouldn't recommend these to my worst enemy.
I ordered a bed 8 weeks ago with an estimated 3 week delivery. We are still waiting...
The store have not made any attempt to contact me in this time, nor returned any of my calls.
When I have been able to speak to them I have received an ever-changing series of excuses and dates. (I have been told "It should be with you this week" on 5 separate occassions).
