If you read your terms and conditions and actually read through the website before you apply, you wouldn't be so surprised. This account is a self servicing account and that they actually don't process instant payments. Whenever I have dealt with customer services they have been nothing but pleasant, polite and helpful and do their best within what they are given to work with. I suppose if you are going to phone with an attitude then don't be surprised when you receive an attitude right back. Manners cost nothing and rudeness gets you nowhere. Only thing I would like to see come into the future is outbound transfers done over a weekend, rather than having to wait all weekend but hey I can live with it

I have used cashplus for a year now since shutting down a LTD company and loosing my bank account with it. I have no complaints but when you make a payment on a Saturday it doesn't go through until Monday ! Doesn't take long to get used to .Iadvance is a god send and I've now been upgraded to a £250 overdraft...better than when I was with Barclays ! It cost me 0.75p a day to use. Has full bank features like DD's and Instant payments and when I get paid into the account, no matter what day its in within an hour.

I am surprised at so many negative reviews, I have had my account for around 8 years now with no problems and the i-advance facility is a god send for me ensuring I am always up to date with everything. I would recommend them completely. No one has ever been rude to me either.

I got this six month ago as it was recommended by a friend, I had gotten a little part time job on top of mu usual job and wanted to save the wages in this account, I have never had any problems, the debit protect is brilliant, I have used it a few time, and I have also taken advantage of the iadvance service, my only criticism it that I have always paid on time, and usually get offered another the next day, but just lately I am been offered no more iadvance and I am not sure why

I can answer that's question for you wages are normally credited to your account between 7.30 and 8.30am the day your wages are due to be credited

Great card overall but used the iadvance twice and paid early. Depended on option to use again if needed but not available to me now. Confused why and helpline unhelpful. I only borrow £50-£100 as short loan & paid very quickly. Is there a limit to times offered to customers? I would have saved until really needed.
Written on: 18/06/2015
There's no time limit. I used mine every month for ages until the amount offered had built up to 500. Always paid back ontime or early then it disappeared for a couple of months and appeared again. It's done this more than once, they say it's a decision based on numerous factors but they don't elaborate. Who knows. I think the account and their service is really good and if iadvance is there when I need it, it's a bonus. You just can't rely on it.

I have only been using cashplus for a couple of months but so far it does exactly what I need. I don't quite understand all the bad reviews below. If you use this correctly then I don't see why you would get charges as stated by others. I've set up direct debits online, use it for card payments and cash withdrawals all at no extra cost. In fact I have just ordered their euro travel card as this shows as free to use also. Everything can be managed online and is up to date, even shows authorised card payments that haven't yet gone through, great way to manage your money. Following a bankruptcy Barclays was the only account I could open, but how you are expected to managed your account I don't know as you can't get telephone or online banking, Cashplus was my other option and ticks all the boxes.

I initially wanted a "normal" business account but couldn't get one because of a past problem. So I researched prepaid and this was the best option. I pay £49 / year which works out cheaper than the high street banks so I am more than happy. If you follow the rules it should not cost you any more than the £49 per year which is great, The account balance is always up to date so no hidden surprises because purchases havent showed up yet. So overall I am fairly happy. the downsides are: No cheques It can take half a day for credits to show / payment to be processed. I can't create direct debits for my customers (I can for good I buy)

I've had this Cashplus Mastercard and account for a few weeks now, to be perfectly honest, I wasn't expecting much, in fact I was expecting it to be very bargain basement standard seeing as it's a sub-prime type card account and also judging by quite a sizable amount of negative reviews I've seen on here but I thought I'd give it a bash because I needed an alternative bank account and I have to say that so far Cashplus seems fine. I have another bank account which is more mainstream if I can put it like that, to put it another way, that account is one that not everybody could get, I got it when I had a much better credit rating and was in a much better financial position than I am today but the shocking thing is that it's actually not much better than Cashplus, I pay quite a lot of high charges for that too when I go into overdraft etc. If Cashplus charge high fees then I'd expect that because of the type of account it is so I won't hold that against it, my main account is the only thing that's disappointing me at the moment because I should be able to say that it's much better than Cashplus but in reality I see no difference between them which technically speaking, as it's supposed to be a basic account open to all, Cashplus is better, that's madness I know but I'm just telling it like it is, main high street banks need to get their act together, if they can't offer a better service than offered in a basic bank account that's open to everyone then something is seriously wrong with today's high street banks, many thanks.

I have used cashplus for over 5 years now and I am pleased. I originaly used this card because I had bad credit and wanted a card to use over the internet. This card has been perfect for it. I usually pay the yearly cost as I use the card very often. It is easy to top up at any of the Money Shop stores and the money loads very quickly. I also use bank transfers to load money onto the card as well. Either way it is free to put money on. I have an overdraft on the card but only paid £10 to setup. The costs to set up and use are very expensive and so I would only use the overdraft for high purchases that I knew would be paid back within a couple of days. I have had almost no trouble with this card and the occasions that there has been I have had to make little effort to resolve. Overall I'd definatly recommend if you don't have access to credit/debit cards or perhaps want a safe card to use on the internet.

I really do not understand why some people complain so much about this Cash Plus card. It is very clear from the T&C's that you shouldn't go over the top up amount, you'll get charged for a rejected direct debit and so on. It is people's own fault when this happens. Read the T&C's! I've had my card for over a year now, and I haven't experienced any problems. Yes it's expensive to call them, but it's like that with most companies. But the staff I've spoken to are always friendly, and they all speak English. My only issue is that my wages don't reach my account before around 10:30-11 am on the day - not that it's a huge problem, it's just a bit odd. And it's impossible to transfer money between accounts on the weekends - but as long as you're aware of this, you can plan ahead :-) I'm happy with my card and the service that they provide.

There are mixed opinions about the Cash Plus Mastercard, including some from very unhappy people, but my experience with it has been really good. I've been using the card for about 4 years – mainly for online shopping and ATM withdrawals – without any serious problems. Very occasionally the card has been declined, but as time goes by that seems to be happening less and less. It helps to understand that the Cashplus account system is fully automatic, and the account management software sticks rigidly to pre-determined rules. However, those rules change according to the exact type of account you've got (the cards look the same but there are several different account formats). On top of that, the rules are also different for the "Express Access" and the "Total Access" account. So you need to know exactly what type of account you've got, and you need to read the instructions, Terms & Conditions etc. that apply to your particular account very carefully. In other words, make sure you have a clear understanding of the rules that apply to your card. In other words, if you want to have a good relationship with the Cash Plus card it's important to know exactly which card you have and find out exactly what it will do, and – even more important – what it won't do. If you stick to the rules, the card works fine and is unlikely to do anything unexpected. But if you don’t read your Terms & Conditions carefully, and accidentally (or deliberately) break a rule, the automated system will spot the anomaly and its response can cause difficulties. Applying for the card online is easy and, depending on whether you can fulfil the ID and home address requirements, the system will set up either an "Express" card account, or a "Total Access" card account. The "Express" account card comes with a number of restrictions, and the "Total Access" account allows you to do a lot more with the card. If your initial application results in your being issued with an "Express" (restricted use) account, you can still apply later for an upgrade to "Total Access". I'm on the electoral register and that seemed to help with the application, because I was issued with a Total Access account immediately. I load cash onto the card at my local Money Shop or the main Post Office – the process takes about 10 seconds and I don’t get charged. Same goes for ATMs: card in slot, punch in my details and it spits out the cash and a paper receipt – so no problems there either. I've never had a problem with this card when shopping online, and Paypal recognises it too. However, if you intend to use the card for car hire payment, or pay-at-the-pump filling stations, you'll probably need to inform Cashplus first. Then, if the type of account you have allows it, they'll modify your account to allow card payments for those services. My only complaint is that new users might find it a bit difficult to find out exactly what they can use their particular card / account for, and I think that has caused some problems. It would be really helpful if Cashplus would put the Terms and Conditions together with any other rules and restrictions applicable to a new applicant's card all in one place, so that it could be printed off and read carefully. That way, nothing would get missed out or overlooked by either party. I'm sure that would stop most of the misunderstandings that cause some people to get into difficulties with the card. I think it's a good card. It's supported by a slick, well designed account system and I find the account far more user friendly and informative than my "proper" high street bank. You just need to be careful to stay within the rules that apply to your particular card – which incidentally includes not trying to load it over the top up limit - and you shouldn't have any problems. And in case anyone's wondering – no, I'm not saying all the right things because I'm employed by Mastercard or Cashplus. In fact I have nothing to do with banking or finance at all – I build and restore custom guitars for a living. Good card. Just read the T&Cs carefully and understand how your account works.

Hi again.
I'm the original poster. Thanks for your response.
The thing is, lots of people who have a good credit rating and manage money sensibly will choose to use a CashPlus card for internet shopping and so forth, because a properly managed, pre-loaded card is a relatively safe way of doing business with strangers. But I'd guess that for every one of those people, there are probably 50 others who are not among the world's best at managing money, and they will have applied for a CashPlus card because their credit rating's shot to pieces, they can't get a credit card, and Cash Plus offers an instant, practical solution to their difficulty.
For such people, receiving their nice gold card through the post is probably quite exciting, and for some there's going to be a temptation to start using their new card immediately – before they've ploughed through all of the important small print and other mission critical advice. And so they run headlong into difficulties which - because they either haven't read or properly understood the terms and conditions – look like they're all Cashplus's fault! Then, in frustration, they rush over here and write a bad review - which is a bit unfair on Cashplus.
So it might not be a bad idea to compile, on a single page, a "Quick Start User Guide" tailored to work with the user's card, with bullet points under the headings: "You Must…" and "You Must Not...". None of the CashPlus account's many (and very useful) other facilities need to appear on that page – because if the user doesn't quickly grasp those fundamental rules then the rest of the available facilities become superfluous equally quickly!
This card isn't a toy. It's a serious and extremely handy piece of kit, and it’s clear that a lot of thought has gone into creating the CashPlus system. So it's a shame that some people who are using CashPlus as a last-ditch attempt to rejoin financial society apparently come unstuck because they don't quite understand how the card works. I know you can lead a horse to water but you can't make it drink – but for those people who struggle with managing money and small print (a potentially deadly combination) it might be helpful to mark the path to the water just a little more clearly!
Keep up the good work!

I have had an account with My Cash Plus for a long time now. I use my account to have my wages paid in and to withdraw cash from cash machine in the U.K. is just 99 Pence, or is I use the card in the shop its 99 pence per transaction. My wife also uses the card in the Philippines and my charges are around the 4.50 sometimes a little more on bigger transactions. I don't have a problem with them. When I could not remember my pin number they send me a mobile text with the pin and I had it right away and did not have to wait 5 working days like other main stream Banking accounts. I have bad credit in fact I am Bankrupt but never had any of the problems I have been reading about on hear and other internet base on-line reviews. I have had a business account put 1,000 in it long time back now and was offered a 500 pounds overdraft. So I don't really understand why everyone else had problems. Yes you will have problems if they cant I.D. yourself if your not on the electoral roll. I have had no problems with this card.

I have had a pre payment card and an euro pre payment card, never had a problem loading the cards or indeed using the cards, my only criticism is the £100 overdraft facility, when offered its a mind field working out the charges and they are steep.

I've been with CashPlus six months now and what can I say I love it. Does everything and more that it has promised. The only reason I didn't give it five stars was because the iadvance and overdraft are very strange how they work had several iadvances out all paid back on time or early but now they wont offer me another? They did however give me a £5 overdraft which is strange. Also call waiting times for customer services tend to be a little excessive around 15 minutes wait on average sometimes longer but when I do eventually get through workers are polite, professional, friendly and helpful. I did have a case of money going out of my account unathorised though and they said they'll send me some forms out and it'll take up to 48 days to be refunded which seems excessive again. Apart from this always been paid on time had issues resolved and love the service as a whole I prefer them much more to the high street banks who'd never consider lending to me or giving me a basic bank account.
written by gav79 on 24/04/2014
I have actually been using cash plus for a couple of months now and I have never had a problem with them at all, my money goes in when I transfer it from my bank, and I only really put money in to cover the £4.95 a month for the credit builder, which comes highly recommended from some very big money web sites so they must be doing something right, and I am only using this to help to improve my credit rating. I also have a friend who had used them for well over a year and they was the one who recommended me as they have the £250 overdraft and also the pay day loan style options. So when you think about it for someone who has appalling credit and would never be looked at by any credit card company this is idea as they can slowly build there credit back up, and also be offered small loans etc to help you out if in need which know where else would even think about. These payday loan companies are stupid prices to pay back, and even this is cheaper and no credit checks. My only actual question was regarding the I advance loans, as they offered me £50 about 5 weeks ago and again I didn't need it but took it out for 5 days so I would only pay back £55 but improve my credit rating at the same time, since then I have not seen anything on my credit file about borrowing it, or paying it back, neither have they offered me it again and I paid it back a day early. So does anyone know anything about how that works ? I just don't understand where all the bad comments are coming from ? My only guess is it is people who don't read the agreement, who do not know how to manage credit, and basically got themselves into a mess and into debt again and just trying to blame everyone else but themselves. Just like the person who wrote that they are £42 in debt but never had a statement in 3 months so wont pay it and never paid there £4.95 a month. That is a classic example of someone who never read anything as the statements are online, so firstly, YES, they can see there statements, and how and why they owe the money, and just a guess here would be that they haven't paid there £4.95 per month, so have been charged for late payments as well and if they had been bothered to log on and check they would see it rather than criticise and slander a company. I am sorry to come off so negative here but all I seem to be reading is slander and negative comments, mostly unfounded and just because they haven't looked for the answer and turned the blame on a company trying to help them ? Of course I know there are genuine ones here as no company is perfect, but I am commenting on ones like the example I posted above. So anyone have any info on the I-advance and how it actually does work ?
Written on: 02/05/2014
I'm not sure what the Iadvance is, but It comes in really handy. I have the credit builder also. My cash plus account is really useful and comes in handy. No negative experience what so ever. Same as you say, the Iadvance is more or less a pay day loan service

I have been using this card now more than three years (in the UK and abroad) and have to say that I've never had any problem. I believe, those people who had a bad experience, either they never read terms and conditions or used their card irresponsibly. I'm sure they could face more serious financial problems if they were using a bad credit "credit card". Just keep an eye on your on line account and don't spend more than what you have on the card.

I don't understand why people are complaining and giving them such bad reviews. I haven't had any problems with CashPlus. I got very nervous while I was waiting for my wages to be paid in for the first time after reading these reviews. But they were there on time. I have been able to pay for the things I need online with no problems - except T-mobile don't accept the card, but instead I do a bank transfer, so again, it's not a problem, and it doesn't bother me. When I received my card and had to call customer service with some questions I had, the man I talked to was very pleasant, and gave me all the correct answers, and I got through after 30 seconds. I would definitely recommend CashPlus to others. And NO, I most certainly do NOT work for CashPlus. I am nanny looking after 2 children, thank you.

To send id. How much is the overdraft. Would I be able to use it straight away I activate the card
Written on: 24/04/2014
Just to clarify to Osman43 about the overdraft. You wouldn't get it straight away as a general rule this is a card for people with poor credit who cant get bank accounts and credit cards so it is there to help improve your credit rating as you go along, so as long as you look after your card and use it properly they will normally offer you some sort of loan or overdraft after a month or two but I have never known of anyone to be offered one straight away as they don't do credit checks on anyone joining so for all they know you could be someone who never pays back anything or not who you say you are etc. So please don't get your hopes up thinking you will have any form of credit to start with.
Sorry to burst your bubble or anyone else who thinks they will get instant credit, to start with you have to use the card a pre pay which it is and is intended to be.
Written on: 18/11/2013
Osman you have nothing to worry about. I have had this card for a while now and I have not had any problems with it at all. Although the only annoying thing is that my wages don't appear on my account before around 11am but i can live with that. and yes you can use it straight away after you activate it. i didn't have to send any ID after I received it. don't know why other people had to. And i don't know about the overdraft as i don't have one. try and call them and ask. I've only had good experiences with their customer service although it's 10p per minute to call
Written on: 07/03/2014
I have an overdraft facility with Cashplus, I have never used it but its there just in case, to get it i had to upgrade my card and so far i have found it to be an easy process, only problem so far is that I cant log in, but phoned customer services nice and friendly lady, who is passing my comments on to customer IT support. All in all an easy card to use although not the same as a current account with a bank but the next best thing

I went for the cashplus gold with all the bells and whistles. It cost a fiver to setup, £15 actually but I got £10 back as credit, and now I have a virtual bank account without the lies, misrepresentation of balance, any excuse for extortionate charges, charges for failing to honour dd's, all for just £10 a month. With a bank, if you spend on your card, the shop may not request the amount from your bank for a few days, meaning you have to remember every single transaction to avoid unauthorised overdraft fees, failed dd's etc., all at considerable expense to your self. With this cashplus account, I can see instantly how much exactly I have remaining to spend as it updates all spend instantly. Why don't banks do this? With a bank, if there are insufficient funds to cover a dd, they either do not honour it, and charge you for the privilege, or pay it and charge you more in unauthorised overdraft fees. With this account, if there are insufficient funds to cover a dd, they text you the day before warning you of the fact, for free, and offer you a short term loan to cover it. If the dd is due and still there are insufficient funds they just refuse to honour the dd at no cost to yourself. If your monthly £10 fee is due, and you have insufficient funds to pay it, then just apply the fee next time you are in funds so it's nigh on impossible to go overdrawn on this account, and even if somehow you do manage to go overdrawn, still no charges. We recently went with sky, and they keep taking the dd before the due date, if I was with my previous bank, I'd have ended up paying for sky twice in bank charges. I have saved hundreds all ready in not having to pay bank charges, in fact, being with a bank usually cost me in just two months, what cashplus has in a year. I have dd's setup, done transfers, received payments and transfers, so's, free cash withdrawals, card is accepted everywhere I've tried both in brick and mortar and online, may wages get paid in here too. Just be careful about using the cash advances as they are pricey apr, but still cheaper than any other payday loan type things. Ive had a little trouble topping up at local post offices, need to use the main ones. The only other thing other than below (doing this on my phone and the text box doesn't scroll) is, I think it's happened twice now, their servers have crashed on a last friday of the month for a couple of hours in the early evening (pay day and weekend bash for many). The ONLY real draw back is lack of a chequeing in facility. Offer the ability to cash in cheques for free and there is no reason anyone would ever use a bank again. Cust services are as good or bad as any other, infact they answer far quicker than sky, banks, councils, BT etc. Ive only had three issues so far (other than the server crashes), in a year of use, that I've had to call cs, and one of those wasn't their fault ( it was sky's). The other two issues were dealt with promptly, professionally and satisfactorily. Infact only once was it their fault and they fixed it immediately. And no, I am not affiliated with cashplus at all.

I forgot to mention, you also get cashback on card purchases, so its like you even get paid interest (more than iever have had from a current account).
Until banks get their act together, or this prepay gets ousted, I'll never use a bank again despite the government trying to force everyone to do so.

far far cheaper mate..have to disagree with you, as cashplus charges 730% fixed interest rate per year, so If I borrow 1000pounds for a year, have to give it back 7300 pounds, whilst bank can lend you with a 5-10% for a 1000 pounds, overdraft or credit card with a bad credit score charges only up to 40% fixed interest rate per annum...
