“CashPlus iAdvance”

Written on: 21/11/2014 by MikeYoung (2 reviews written)

I have had a Cashplus card for a few years. Overall I think it is very good and reliable. Very few problems, and none that I can recall that the call centre (English staff in a UK location), haven't been able to resolve. The ATM cards very well all over the world, with much less trouble than my UK bank cards. One observation, rather than a criticism, is the irregularity that iAdvances are offered on my account accessed from the website. Sometimes, they are available sometimes not. Even though I… Read Full Review

“ATM Trouble”

Written on: 12/11/2014 by cwoo5460 (1 review written)

The signup procedure for cashplus, delivery and activation and topup was all fine, no problems there. The website and online access looks a bit "Mickey Mouse" compared to other banks in my opinion, but it does seem to work ok. The problems started when I wanted to withdraw my cash at an ATM. I had to drive around four of them before I found one that would accept the card. After contacting cashplus I have been advised that it will not work at co-op cashpoints or any "Link" cashpoint but will… Read Full Review

“Very good card - just make sure you understand how it...”

Written on: 01/11/2014

There are mixed opinions about the Cash Plus Mastercard, including some from very unhappy people, but my experience with it has been really good. I've been using the card for about 4 years – mainly for online shopping and ATM withdrawals – without any serious problems. Very occasionally the card has been declined, but as time goes by that seems to be happening less and less. It helps to understand that the Cashplus account system is fully automatic, and the account management software… Read Full Review

Dear Cashplus Customer,

Thanks for your fantastic review and recommendation!

It’s great to have an advocate like yourself for Cashplus - we’re so happy to hear how useful you’ve found our products and services.

You’ve raised a good point on finding your access level, and for the benefit of other customers who might read your review, we’ve tried to make it very straightforward and easy to find out exactly what access level you’re on, and as a result, which features are available.

You can find it:
1. In your application confirmation email, if you pay during the application
2. In your welcome email, which everyone receives
3. In both your card carrier and the enclosed leaflet
4. On your Members Area homepage
5. In our website FAQs

But, we’re always open to suggestions from customers, so if you have some ideas on how we could improve this, we’d love to hear them.

We’ve worked hard to make sure we’re always improving and adapting what we give to customers, so again, it’s great to see that you’ve recognised this and appreciate what we do.

Thanks again for your positive review and feedback.
Jayne,
Cashplus

Hi again.

I'm the original poster. Thanks for your response.

The thing is, lots of people who have a good credit rating and manage money sensibly will choose to use a CashPlus card for internet shopping and so forth, because a properly managed, pre-loaded card is a relatively safe way of doing business with strangers. But I'd guess that for every one of those people, there are probably 50 others who are not among the world's best at managing money, and they will have applied for a CashPlus card because their credit rating's shot to pieces, they can't get a credit card, and Cash Plus offers an instant, practical solution to their difficulty.

For such people, receiving their nice gold card through the post is probably quite exciting, and for some there's going to be a temptation to start using their new card immediately – before they've ploughed through all of the important small print and other mission critical advice. And so they run headlong into difficulties which - because they either haven't read or properly understood the terms and conditions – look like they're all Cashplus's fault! Then, in frustration, they rush over here and write a bad review - which is a bit unfair on Cashplus.

So it might not be a bad idea to compile, on a single page, a "Quick Start User Guide" tailored to work with the user's card, with bullet points under the headings: "You Must…" and "You Must Not...". None of the CashPlus account's many (and very useful) other facilities need to appear on that page – because if the user doesn't quickly grasp those fundamental rules then the rest of the available facilities become superfluous equally quickly!

This card isn't a toy. It's a serious and extremely handy piece of kit, and it’s clear that a lot of thought has gone into creating the CashPlus system. So it's a shame that some people who are using CashPlus as a last-ditch attempt to rejoin financial society apparently come unstuck because they don't quite understand how the card works. I know you can lead a horse to water but you can't make it drink – but for those people who struggle with managing money and small print (a potentially deadly combination) it might be helpful to mark the path to the water just a little more clearly!

Keep up the good work!

Hi,

I’m sorry to hear that your recent experience with Cashplus wasn’t positive. I appreciate your feedback and can understand that your situation’s been frustrating.

We have limits in place to ensure we comply with regulations, however I apologise if your limits weren’t made clear enough before you made the transfer.

Without knowing the specifics of your situation, I can’t comment on why this happened, but I can assure you that our top priority is getting money into customer accounts, in as close to real-time as possible. Holding customers money isn’t in our interest, and we’re not allowed to do so by law.

For some possible explanation as to why you’ve been unable to withdraw your money, please see our website help page on account access levels. The third FAQ details what limits are applied to accounts.

Again, I’m sorry for your inconvenience.

Kind Regards,

Jayne,
Cashplus

Aps group! I had a business account wih them, a transaction on my account went missing, I called their customer services on a 0845 number, after not been able to find the transaction, I lost my cool and told the customer service to go back to training as she was helpless in her duty. For this my account was blocked and closed. Reason been I was rude to staff. That's okay, but here's the kicker, I had over £4000 in cleared funds in the account that I use for my business venture and expenses… Read Full Review

okay then so if you can not get a normal bank account with a high street bank then i guess this will have to do but cashplus is not good they make out like its a good deal but in reality it is really not.they charge you £4.95 a month for having the card...£10 for rejected direct debit fees and 99p for every cash withdrawal. like it is not enough that you pay £5 a month for the card , when you add it all up you will see it is not worth it . the customer service agents are not interested when… Read Full Review

Hi,

I’m sorry to hear that you’re unhappy with our fees, and the service you received.

We try very hard to make sure our fees are crystal clear and we have a number of pricing plans available to suit customers, depending on how often the account is being used.

For example, our Flexiplus pricing plan has no monthly fee, but you’ll pay a small fee each time you use the card to make a purchase or withdrawal. Or if you’re mainly using your card for cash withdrawals, our Deluxe plan doesn’t charge for these at all, but it does have a higher monthly fee.

Looking at the issue you’ve mentioned, without knowing the specifics of your situation, I can’t explain why your monthly fee was charged on a different date. However, I can assure you that our systems are automated, and this fee would never be manually applied to your account.

I understand this has inconvenienced you, so I’d be happy to look into this further. If you’d like me to do so, please don’t hesitate to contact me and I will follow this up.

Kind Regards,

Jayne,
Cashplus

“Unfortunately, I cannot give 0 stars”

Written on: 20/08/2014 by daFlores67 (1 review written)

Applied for an account, I am a new business and from the looks of the information, this was a good and easy way to set up. Applied, and was immediately declined. Called Cash Plus to find out why, from the very little information I gave, I would be declined so quickly. The reason is that I rent an office in a larger entrepreneurial space. I have space, a lease, a mailbox. But because there are other companies in the space, they view that as a "forwarding address." So, I asked "OK, well it… Read Full Review

“Avoid this company been ripped off keep charging interest!”

Written on: 15/08/2014 by Rickee543 (1 review written)

I initially started with Cashplus with their standard prepaid card, I was then sent an email with an "invite" to apply for their proper credit card with a credit limit up to £2000. Did this and got accepted with a small £200 limit. I only bought a book from a well known online store, the book cost about £16. Do you know this book as cost me about £70 in interest charges, I paid the book off and as it's something like trailing interest they charge a small fee was added on. So paid off… Read Full Review

Hi rickee543 I have the same card as I got an email invite too I have not made a purchase yet and now I am concerned about using the card.
My own stupid fault for clinking through etc!
What are the charges you mention? If you don't mind me asking?

Hi Dors01
It's difficult to explain as it is totally different to a normal credit card. There is no interest free period, so once you have used the card it charges 50p a day. But I thought as I'd paid it up I got a zero balance. But no it continued charging!
I logged on to find another £25 in interest had been charged.
Also I believe a £10 annual fee as well.
It has now gone to complaints as I think I've paid it off and more debit interest is added!
It's called trailing interest that continues.
I wouldn't recommend it, also they don't notify you by email or post so it's best to check every day in the member's area.

ALL CREDIT CARD transactions work like this when you make a purchase paypal ask if they are going to receive the money without actually taking it.. then after around 3 days later they actually take it. if you requested a refund they would either not bother taking the money or they would take it wait till they actually got the money then request a refund that takes another 3 days.

its the way card transactions work for any bank.

and you cant blame aps for you spending your electric bill money in a paypal store if you didnt have the money to pay your bill before the refund then its not there fault
