“Works Perfectly”

Written on: 29/04/2015 by Marsh175 (1 review written)

I applied for my card with reservations due to reading some less than complimentary reviews, however...The card works perfectly. I am a nurse for the NHS and when I gave my 'new bank details' to HR I wasn't even sure I would see my wages again! The card works just like a high street bank account. I pay all my direct debits and standing orders through the card without issue. The only company that has not recognised it for card payment over the phone is EE but this is their issue not Cash plus… Read Full Review

I completely agree. I was the same and had reservations about taking out this card due to the bad reviews but since having the card I now realise that most of the bad reviews are about things that are all explained within the terms and conditions so provided you use the card as described I think it is great. I cannot get a bank account with a normal high street bank so for me this was the perfect solution. I can pay all my direct debits and was really delighted when I was offered the iadvance option. I took out the creditbuilder option and would totally recommend doing it. After the first 3 months of paying it back they then report to the credit reference agencies and continue to report back each month after this. My credit rating has went up already after several months of having it. Well worth having in my opinion.

Hi, I applied for the credit builder today so fingers crossed it will have a positive effect on credit rating. I have not been offered the I advance yet but will take it if the option arises :)

“Does exactly what is says!!”

Written on: 27/04/2015 by thistle1985 (1 review written)

I got the cashplus card thinking that it would not be up to much and had read so many bad reviews I was scared to put money into it. I opted for the creditbuilder option, which after 3 months of paying will then start to be updated to your credit file. For me this is fantastic. I was also offered an iadvance of £50.....which might not sound much but I took it and paid it back a day early and was delighted that I was even offered some form of credit. I have now started to have part of my wages… Read Full Review

Just opened up a LTD company and had invoices waiting so was happy to get my sort code and account setup with Cashplus. Sent off all my invoices to be paid only to receive a letter through the post a week later stating: This letter is to inform you that at this time we cannot progress your application......blah blah and if I wish to appeal blah blah and then finally ended with "Finally, please note that any further applications you might make in the future for any of our products will be… Read Full Review

“PERFECT COMMON SENSE BANKING”

Written on: 18/04/2015 by DrTravel (1 review written)

I opened my cash plus account a few months ago as I was spending alot of time travelling abroad and my bank was useless (for reasons which I'll come to) With CashPlus, I get most of the regular banking facilities. Overdraft, bank transfer (though this is not instant, it still functions for my needs) direct debits, and a sort code account number for ease for receiving money. If money is sent into the account it's there at the end of the working day (unless sent on a weekend) But the beauty of… Read Full Review

“Works for me”

Written on: 17/04/2015 by Mills475 (1 review written)

I have only been using cashplus for a couple of months but so far it does exactly what I need. I don't quite understand all the bad reviews below. If you use this correctly then I don't see why you would get charges as stated by others. I've set up direct debits online, use it for card payments and cash withdrawals all at no extra cost. In fact I have just ordered their euro travel card as this shows as free to use also. Everything can be managed online and is up to date, even shows authorised… Read Full Review

“horrendously poor ”

Written on: 16/04/2015 by sussexgirl2015 (1 review written)

I think this is one of the worst pre-paid cards. I have tried to pay bills using this card and it has never worked. I was once able to withdraw money but it charged me £2. I deposited £30 recently and it showed me as being overdrawn. Please do not use its payday loan service. I used it once and they charged me £50 interest to borrow £200. The only positive thing I can say about this card is it is attractive to look at… Read Full Review

Written on: 13/04/2015 by certified_gmg (1 review written)

I have a cashplus account and am forced to use it as i cant get another "normal" account.. I don't know where to start! This account is DUMB in so many ways possible. Firstly, YOU HAVE TO PAY FOR EVERY CASH WITHDRAWAL!! So that means if you have your last £10 in the account, you wont be able to access it! As greedy Cashplus want to take £2 every time you make a withdrawal from ANY cash machine!! Secondly you cant make an online transaction without them wanting to take 99p! I just tried to… Read Full Review

“Good value easy to use but slow”

Written on: 05/04/2015

I initially wanted a "normal" business account but couldn't get one because of a past problem. So I researched prepaid and this was the best option. I pay £49 / year which works out cheaper than the high street banks so I am more than happy. If you follow the rules it should not cost you any more than the £49 per year which is great, The account balance is always up to date so no hidden surprises because purchases havent showed up yet. So overall I am fairly happy. the downsides are: No… Read Full Review

“Do Not Get This Card !!”

Written on: 28/03/2015

Cash Plus is a rip-off. I just wanted to have an easy to use pre-paid card to shop online etc, everything was ok for a while then I started getting warning e-mails saying that I had to send documents for an 'upgrade', I had no interest in upgrading and was happy with the card as it was, but within a few weeks they cancelled my card. Their loss, not mine, I'll take my custom elsewhere. Avoid this rip-off company… Read Full Review

“Cashplus Ripoff !!!”

Written on: 24/03/2015 by rgumbrell (1 review written)

I had the misfortune to try to use my cashplus card in the cashpoint of Lloyd's Bank in Cheltenham, last month on Feb. 3rd.The machine did not pay out any cash and a notice came up "cannot complete this transaction". I spoke to cashplus as I didn't want to see the transaction going through later on. Next day , £500.00 was transferred to Lloyd's Bank. I was incensed as I had NOT been paid any cash from the cashpoint machine. I spoke again to cashplus and they said they couldn't do anything . I… Read Full Review

Seemed like a great deal. Get the details right and it should be easy, right? WRONG!! Poorly communicated t's&c's, appalling customer services that resulted in all kinds of poor excuses as to why bank transfers would end up taking 48hrs!! Yes, I was without my own money for 48hours. Maybe I can beat the system- use my card to make payments. No! Huge fees for doing so. I can not emphasize enough- do not waste your time. I intend to report this account to the FSA it really feels like they are… Read Full Review

“Ignore the bad reviews ”

Written on: 20/03/2015 by jjFox284 (1 review written)

I've had my cash plus card for about 4 years without a single problem. I use it like a normal bank account with my wages being paid into it and various direct debits coming out each month. I'd lived overseas and returned to the UK without enough ID to open an account with a high street bank so intended to use cash plus just for a few months but was so impressed I stuck with them. When I've needed to I've used their i-advance feature for a couple of weeks ( a bit like a payday loan ) and… Read Full Review

I don't remember how long it took originally, I just noticed it was there in the menu on the left of the website one day. First £50 which I used a few months running, then it increased over the next few months to 500. They have removed it for no apparent reason before now then reintroduced it at a later date so I never rely on it being there although it usually is. I don't know what information they use to decide if you qualify for it, maybe the credit reference agencies have a hand in it but it seems you can't apply for it as such. Just keep an eye on the menu in the members area.

“Taking Money For Just About Anything”

Took this card out and it was fine for a while. However the charges that they levy are ridiculous. £10 each time for a returned direct debit. “I don't know where I am with this card.”

Written on: 17/03/2015 by Somerville220 (1 review written)

I got this card back In November. It seemed exactly what I was looking for, a card that I could pay up front in cash to make online purchases. Everthing at first went well. I applied for the card, received the letter from them to take to the post office, I went to the PO, paid the £4.95 and about a week later I received the card and my pin number. No problems there. So I then topped up the card at the PO and the £4.95 was added to my account. I then started using the card with no problems at… Read Full Review

Dear Cashplus Customer,

Firstly, I’m really sorry to hear you’re having problems topping up your card – this is definitely a concern to us and I’d like to look into this for you. I’ll contact you directly so I can investigate this.

Secondly - I’d like to clear up any confusion regarding upgrading your account. Upgrading means you have access to a wider range of account extras and benefits like online payments and transfers, you’re able to have wages paid in and you can set up Direct Debits. You would also get access to higher balance and transaction limits, and as you mentioned - you’ll be able to top up at the Post Office again.

Creditbuilder is just one feature that we do offer to customers on this access level, but just by upgrading your account, you’re not signing up to it.

To your point on not being able to top up at The Money Shop, this is definitely a concern to us and shouldn’t be happening. I’d like to try and get this rectified for you – I’ll contact you directly so we can look into this.

I’d also like to clarify that we’d never keep customers from accessing their money just because they didn’t upgrade to a Total Access account. I can’t confirm what happened in the situation you’ve mentioned, but this could happen if the customer exceeded their balance limit for example - as a regulated company we can’t give customers access to money over their limit without being able to verify their identity and address first.

Again, I’m sorry that your experience with Cashplus hasn’t been great so far.

Kind Regards,

Jayne

Dear Cashplus Customer,

I’m sorry that you’re disappointed that our iAdvance service hasn’t been available to you recently.

We do work hard to make the service available to as many of our customers as possible, but access to the service is always dependent on customer’s eligibility, because we have a legal obligation to lend responsibly. We base eligibility on a high number of internal and external factors (not limited to credit score), which can change frequently. Because of how often these factors will change, both you and other customers may find that they’ll come in and out of eligibility fairly regularly.

If you do become eligible again, you’ll always receive an email to let you know.

Kind Regards,

Jayne

“Disappointing ”

I had taken out a card with cash plus in 2013 to rebuild my credit and eventuality get a account with benefits added to it such as the overdraft and Iadvance advertised etc on the website it states about all the benefits you can get and will have regardless to you credit score but actually this is false advertisement as I have had the card nearly 2years now and each month I pay £5 to APS for the credit builder facility. When I have contacted the customer service regarding this they say they do… Read Full Review

Dear Cashplus Customer,

I’m sorry to hear you’re disappointed that you haven’t been able to access our Overdraft or iAdvance services.

To avoid any confusion, I can definitely confirm that there are no credit checks to open a Cashplus account with us. However, where our Overdraft and iAdvance products are concerned, we work very hard to make sure it’s clear that these are subject to our own credit criteria and approval. We’re legally required to disclose this information across our website and other material, and we make sure we do this. We do try to offer these products to as many customers as we can, and to do this we regularly review our customer’s eligibility. Because our eligibility criteria is based on a number of internal and external factors that can change frequently, these services won’t always be available (for your privacy, our Customer Service staff don’t have access to information on why you’re not eligible).

Again, sorry that you’ve found this disappointing, and if you would like to discuss further, don’t hesitate to get in touch with our Customer Services team.

Kind Regards,

Jayne
