Having got this card thinking it would help with my banking needs etc I am now disappointed that he iadvance facility has disappeared even though I always repaid on time or even early and now have to pay £2 for ATM withdrawals. What happened to the deluxe facility? would rather pay £9.95 a month than £2 everytime. Have just changed my payments into this account but will now cancel that and go eleswhere. Reading the comments on here there seems no point in ringing customer services… Read Full Review

i was happy with the card and all was working well until cash plus offered me an overdraft facility . i thought that it would be a good backup on the odd occasion that i forgot to upload cash , i thought this was offered because i had been a good customer . so this is when it all went pear shaped . the next day i saw that i had been charged £20 for this overdraft setup which put me into an overdraft state . i then phoned cash plus ( once again on premium phone line so they can make more money… Read Full Review

Sometimes I wonder what use are these review websites if cashplus is still in existence considering the countlless of negative reviews they get. I most say that I have never made such a silly mistake in my life,I should have done a thorough investigation before signing up with them. They are not an alternative to bank accounts as they claim, their staffs are not helpful and not well trained, they can hold on to your money for no reason. “No Customer Service”

Written on: 22/12/2014 by Cooper1979 (1 review written)

It took 10 weeks to get my outstanding balance after closing this account. After countless expensive phone calls; a complaint letter sent by signed for mail which they stated they did not receive; even though the Royal mail web site stated it was, they never replied or responded to me. They are not a great alternative to a bank account at all and their literature is misleading. The Financial Ombudsman stepped in and they still Kept MY MONEY for a further 3 weeks, and only paid out 10 weeks after… Read Full Review

Sorry I wrote this review and must have clicked anonymous. I want them to know who I am as they rang me at 4.00pm two days ago to apologize for the manner in which I was addressed It was actulally the same girl who told me also that the 5k that was being held up by the pending transactions was being credited to my account within a couple of hours. I waited patiently and nothing arrived so I contacted them further to have a very pleasant helpful chap tell me it had been done but the cut off point had passed so would be in the following morning and once again apologized for the misadvice I was given. He even went as far as to claim he was in first thing the next morning so would ensure it had been credited which incidentally was yesterday morning!! I came home from work last night checked the balance and guess what Nothing had been credited and the office was closed so thank you cashplus for your consistency of making an almighty mess of things since friday last week so I wonder have you sent it back to where it came from even though you stated it wouldn t happen or is am I playing pot luck again today!! Rent is now late as is car insurance and insufficient access to funds to get to work and no reason for it zero balance no pending transactions and 5k missing Brilliant!!!

“My Cashplus inconsistency letting them down frustrating!”

Written on: 06/12/2014 by AliMcCabe467 (1 review written)

I have had my cash plus for a couple of years now with no real complaints about the card as it easy to use and has been a accepted at most merchants and retailers with no problem but I have had two Experiences that I'm sure others have encountered previously and that is overstepping the limit of £5,000.00 I have read the reviews where people state that they can't understand how customers can complain when it's down to themselves going above the limit and I'll partially agree with that but… Read Full Review

“Why do people keep complaining?”

Written on: 02/12/2014 by cjDillon109 (1 review written)

I really do not understand why some people complain so much about this Cash Plus card. It is very clear from the T&C's that you shouldn't go over the top up amount, you'll get charged for a rejected direct debit and so on. It is people's own fault when this happens. Read the T&C's! I've had my card for over a year now, and I haven't experienced any problems. Yes it's expensive to call them, but it's like that with most companies. But the staff I've spoken to are always friendly, and they all… Read Full Review

Dear Cashplus Customer,

Sorry that you haven’t been able to apply for an iAdvance recently – it’s definitely one of our most popular features, so I can understand that not having access to it regularly can be disappointing.

I’d also like to apologise on the lack of information you were given on why the service has been unavailable recently. iAdvance eligibility is based on a number of internal and external factors, which we regularly review, so that we can offer this feature to as many customers as possible. Because individual circumstances can change frequently, you might find that you come in and out of eligibility regularly. Our customer service staff don’t have access to information on exactly why it isn’t available.

Unfortunately, this does mean that you won’t always have access to the service, but as soon as you do, the iAdvance button will reappear in the Members Area and we’ll send you an alert to let you know.

Kind Regards,

“CashPlus iAdvance”

Written on: 21/11/2014 by MikeYoung (2 reviews written)

I have had a Cashplus card for a few years. Overall I think it is very good and reliable. Very few problems, and none that I can recall that the call centre (English staff in a UK location), haven't been able to resolve. The ATM cards very well all over the world, with much less trouble than my UK bank cards. One observation, rather than a criticism, is the irregularity that iAdvances are offered on my account accessed from the website. Sometimes, they are available sometimes not. Even though I… Read Full Review

Dear Cashplus Customer,

Thanks for your review - It’s great to hear that overall you’re happy with our card and that you find our iAdvance feature so valuable.

iAdvance is one of our most popular add-ons and we do our best to make it available to as many people as possible.

To do this, we need to look at a number of internal and external factors, some of which can change frequently, relating to your accounts and how they’re being used.

As soon as you do become eligible again, the iAdvance button will reappear in the Member’s Area – and we’ll send you an alert to let you know.

It’s probably worth mentioning that we do have our regular overdraft product which you might qualify for, so please check the Members’ Area to see if the Overdraft button appears. If it does, it means you’re already approved.

Thanks again for your feedback.

“ATM Trouble”

Written on: 12/11/2014 by cwoo5460 (1 review written)

The signup procedure for cashplus, delivery and activation and topup was all fine, no problems there. The website and online access looks a bit "Mickey Mouse" compared to other banks in my opinion, but it does seem to work ok. The problems started when I wanted to withdraw my cash at an ATM. I had to drive around four of them before I found one that would accept the card. After contacting cashplus I have been advised that it will not work at co-op cashpoints or any "Link" cashpoint but will… Read Full Review

Dear Cashplus Customer

I’m sorry to hear that you’ve been having some trouble withdrawing cash using your Cashplus card recently. We’re aware that our cards can’t be used to withdraw cash at Link machines, however this is limited to those located inside Co-op stores, as these accept only Cirrus and Visa cards. I apologise if you’ve been given incorrect information on this.

Cashplus cards can be used at any ATMs that display the MasterCard Acceptance Mark – including Link ATMs that display it. It does sound concerning that you’ve been unable to use your card at bank ATMs, as we haven’t previously encountered this problem. If you’re willing to discuss this further and can let me know the locations of the ATMs you’ve had trouble with, I’ll email you directly so I can investigate this.

Thanks for bringing this to our attention, and again, I’m sorry that you’ve had some problems with your card.

Thanks,

Jayne,

Dear Cashplus Customer,

I can confirm that you shouldn’t be receiving any charges if your balance is £0, so I hope we can get this resolved for you.

We also don’t have any products with a £15 charge per month. Are you sure it was Cashplus who contacted you? The only instance that you would be charged a fee when your balance is £0 is if a Direct Debit payment bounced during this time.
I’ll contact you directly so that we can follow up and look into this.

“Very good card - just make sure you understand how it...”

Written on: 01/11/2014

There are mixed opinions about the Cash Plus Mastercard, including some from very unhappy people, but my experience with it has been really good. I've been using the card for about 4 years – mainly for online shopping and ATM withdrawals – without any serious problems. Very occasionally the card has been declined, but as time goes by that seems to be happening less and less. It helps to understand that the Cashplus account system is fully automatic, and the account management software… Read Full Review

Dear Cashplus Customer,

Thanks for your fantastic review and recommendation!

It’s great to have an advocate like yourself for Cashplus - we’re so happy to hear how useful you’ve found our products and services.

You’ve raised a good point on finding your access level, and for the benefit of other customers who might read your review, we’ve tried to make it very straightforward and easy to find out exactly what access level you’re on, and as a result, which features are available.

You can find it:
1. In your application confirmation email, if you pay during the application
2. In your welcome email, which everyone receives
3. In both your card carrier and the enclosed leaflet
4. On your Members Area homepage
5. In our website FAQs

But, we’re always open to suggestions from customers, so if you have some ideas on how we could improve this, we’d love to hear them.

We’ve worked hard to make sure we’re always improving and adapting what we give to customers, so again, it’s great to see that you’ve recognised this and appreciate what we do.

Thanks again for your positive review and feedback.

Hi again.

I'm the original poster. Thanks for your response.

The thing is, lots of people who have a good credit rating and manage money sensibly will choose to use a CashPlus card for internet shopping and so forth, because a properly managed, pre-loaded card is a relatively safe way of doing business with strangers. But I'd guess that for every one of those people, there are probably 50 others who are not among the world's best at managing money, and they will have applied for a CashPlus card because their credit rating's shot to pieces, they can't get a credit card, and Cash Plus offers an instant, practical solution to their difficulty.

For such people, receiving their nice gold card through the post is probably quite exciting, and for some there's going to be a temptation to start using their new card immediately – before they've ploughed through all of the important small print and other mission critical advice. And so they run headlong into difficulties which - because they either haven't read or properly understood the terms and conditions – look like they're all Cashplus's fault! Then, in frustration, they rush over here and write a bad review - which is a bit unfair on Cashplus.

So it might not be a bad idea to compile, on a single page, a "Quick Start User Guide" tailored to work with the user's card, with bullet points under the headings: "You Must…" and "You Must Not...". None of the CashPlus account's many (and very useful) other facilities need to appear on that page – because if the user doesn't quickly grasp those fundamental rules then the rest of the available facilities become superfluous equally quickly!

This card isn't a toy. It's a serious and extremely handy piece of kit, and it’s clear that a lot of thought has gone into creating the CashPlus system. So it's a shame that some people who are using CashPlus as a last-ditch attempt to rejoin financial society apparently come unstuck because they don't quite understand how the card works. I know you can lead a horse to water but you can't make it drink – but for those people who struggle with managing money and small print (a potentially deadly combination) it might be helpful to mark the path to the water just a little more clearly!

Keep up the good work!

Hi,

I’m sorry to hear that your recent experience with Cashplus wasn’t positive. I appreciate your feedback and can understand that your situation’s been frustrating.

We have limits in place to ensure we comply with regulations, however I apologise if your limits weren’t made clear enough before you made the transfer.

Without knowing the specifics of your situation, I can’t comment on why this happened, but I can assure you that our top priority is getting money into customer accounts, in as close to real-time as possible. Holding customers money isn’t in our interest, and we’re not allowed to do so by law.

For some possible explanation as to why you’ve been unable to withdraw your money, please see our website help page on account access levels. The third FAQ details what limits are applied to accounts.

Again, I’m sorry for your inconvenience.

Kind Regards,

Jayne,

Hi,

I’m sorry to hear that you’re unhappy with our fees, and the service you received.

We try very hard to make sure our fees are crystal clear and we have a number of pricing plans available to suit customers, depending on how often the account is being used.

For example, our Flexiplus pricing plan has no monthly fee, but you’ll pay a small fee each time you use the card to make a purchase or withdrawal. Or if you’re mainly using your card for cash withdrawals, our Deluxe plan doesn’t charge for these at all, but it does have a higher monthly fee.

Looking at the issue you’ve mentioned, without knowing the specifics of your situation, I can’t explain why your monthly fee was charged on a different date. However, I can assure you that our systems are automated, and this fee would never be manually applied to your account.

I understand this has inconvenienced you, so I’d be happy to look into this further. If you’d like me to do so, please don’t hesitate to contact me and I will follow this up.

Kind Regards,

Jayne,
