“WORST COMPANY!!!!!”

DO NOT USE THIS COMPANY!!!!! Where do I even start…? Britannia Windows is the WORST company in existence. I ordered 4 products from them and each one was wrong in one way or another. 1. Sliding patio doors – sent the wrong doors from a different manufacturer at the wrong size, and even supplied glass which was 300mm too short! They tried explaining that the doors I received were ‘a superior product’ to influence me on keeping them. I ordered standard sliding doors, not a ‘lift and slide’ which are notoriously poor and break. 2. Picture frame window, supplied damaged and without the rubber seals. 3. Bedroom window – Ordered black outside, and all white inside, yet I assume they thought it would be funny to send black internal handles…! 4. Front door with side screens – ordered a black exterior, white interior on both side screens and door, yet they decided to deliver the door dark grey inside and outside… The “manager” was the rudest and most egotistical man I have ever come across. Even after I confided in him about the stress of my situation over the phone one afternoon, he had the audacity to blame ME for their mistakes; raised his voice and was clearly very angry at HIS teams countless errors. This has been the most stressful situation whilst living in a full house renovation with a young child, and their incompetence has cost us weeks of living in non-watertight conditions, to which there was not a single shred of remorse. Luckily I live locally and I am able to visit the factory, as getting hold of any of the team was impossible. They never saw me face-to-face nor offered any compassion to the situation. If you are reading this and think that this one bad review wouldn’t harm your chances, think again. Locally, this company are widely regarded as utterly useless and I would strongly encourage using alternative suppliers, such as Seal Lite or Majestic Windows.

I used to work in Clevedon Jobcentre in the town where the factory is based and knew a lot of locals and talked to people who had worked with Britannia. Locals were keen to work there and because of this I used Britannia for windows and had a good experience.

From the moment of first contact the team were very professional, I had no hard sell they took onboard what I was looking for. The company were Recommended by a friend. I recently had a replacement door fitted,the quality is evident and the door is very solid. The fitters were well mannered and very efficient,there was no mess, no need of remedial work to the decor in the hallway.I can recommend Britania,in every respect, from the initial quote, to completion,every stage was carried out with efficiency,and care, Thanks Britania, job well done.

“Extremely poor service”

We had 4large patio doors and 2 other windows. The doors were wheelchair friendly as we had requested. The faults included No door stop No back plate Missing bits of trim One window frame dangerously unstable. They left rubbish all over the place and the windows smeared and dirty with blue plastic stuck behind the trim which is terribly difficult to remove. The whole process has taken 3 months to complete The customer service was poor and all the company has offered is to put us in the hands of debt collectors Do not touch them

“Fantastic Work”

We would not hesitate to recommend Britannia Windows in Chandlers Ford to all our friends and our neighbour has already requested a quotation.

“new back door. regret ever having britannia windows.”

Door ordered 5.10.16. No.SS15982-s to be installed in 6 weeks did not happen until they were prompted then finally another 2 weeks. One fitter then took all day 9th dec.and he then asked to finish it next day, next day was still unsatisfactory. 14th Dec another fitter, 21dec another fitter made more adjustments and still not fully sealing. 18th Jan more adjustments and fitter said that was best it could be. Letter sent to Clevedon branch with complaint--no reply to date. Still waiting response before I pay balance. Wish I knew the quality of the product before

“Fantastic double glazed windows”

We had 8 windows in total replaced with Britannia Windows in Clevedon. They are fantastic and made a wonderful addition to the house compared with to the ugly old ones that were here when we bought the house. Overall delighted to recommend Britannia to anyone. We are currently ordering a composite door with them, so we hope that will be just as good.

“Do not use Britannia windows!”

We are in the process of an installation that has lasted 6 weeks and still without resolve. We had ordered triple glazing upvc windows as a replacement for the front and side of our house and when initially installing a large proportion of all the windows were cracked due to incorrect installation and use of incorrect beading. Measurements for our bay windows were also wrong but they still installed them which resulted in having to recess the windows so far into the walls the side panels barely open (in the process of installing the bay windows they tried to cover up the mistake by chipping away at the stone window cillls so they could attach plastic beading strips). One window was even installed without any foam being filled around the edges to close off the gaps or even attaching a cavity filler to block the cavity opening above the window (turned out the window did not have a lintel above it?). This took place in November and the job was not completed before Christmas, so due to some windows not being sealed we were left with cold air coming into the house for 5 weeks. Not once during the initial stages did anyone from Britannia contact us, I had to call them, we have not even received any apologies despite being left with cracked windows and cold drafts. I chose Britannia as they were local and wanted to avoid the higher cost of national suppliers such as Anglian or Nationwide. However I think now I would have been better off going with a National company as this has installation has caused a lot of stress, anxiety and time trying to resolve the issues.

“Poor guarantee repairs”

Our conservatory was installed 9 years ago, so guarantee has now run out. The initial installation appeared to be good but original fitter left the company. We have since had all the roof panels and the skylight replaced at least once but failed to resolve either leaks from the skylight or water entering cells of roof panels. Comments made from fitter were that we were on a hill that took a lot of high winds and rain battering the roof; his own conservatory roof had water coming into the roof cells and there was little could be done about it! He later suggested that we have the original light polycarbonate roof replaced by glass. This would have involved more work at our cost to insert a bar to strengthen the roof. He also said that we had caused the skylight leak by closing it too tightly and warping the fitting. I told him it had to be closed tightly to prevent water coming in. The sales manager was very keen to come out and quote for this but when I asked for someone to look at the conservatory to assess original installation because of the constant water inlet, I could not get an expert to come out and never seemed to get past the receptionist but happy to again replace the roof panels. After last installation the water was coming into the roof cells worse than ever, this after two wrong sized panels were ordered, the correct size were a different colour but accepted them rather than wait another 6 weeks. I was told the type of roofing we had was a specialist order now as manufacture discontinued. I went up a ladder to look at the roof edges and found two covering ends split and broken. They were not like this before the latest repairs. The fitters came back and replaced the broken panel covers. My husband then went on line to research polycarbonate roofing and found it was recommended. He then bought the repair kits and looked up how to seal the roof ends. He has successfully sealed the roof ends and is at present sorting out a skylight leak by properly sealing roof ends as the seal has to go on the correct way round. My husband is not a conservatory fitter! Although the company were always willing to send people to repair leaks, it has never been successful. My husband has successfully maintained the conservatory roof even before the guarantee ran out. For this reason would be reluctant to recommend this company. Unhappy also with length of time taken between survey and initial installation; several weeks longer than promised. When I phoned the company about the delay; I said to receptionist that I wanted the conservatory ordered in the winter to sit in that summer, to which she replied that she was sure they all wanted that; in other words "tough luck"! Not helpful when you have already paid the deposit and not much you can do about delays. basic installation and advice seems to have been sound; repairs under guarantee and attitude left a lot to be desired.

“Difficult installation well executed.”

In November 2015 we had windows, patio doors and front entrance door fitted by Britannia Windows Clevedon. Their salesman was knowledgable, helpful and friebdly. Their quote was competitive; I did not neccessarily want the cheapest quote. The installation was started on time. There were some problems for the installems, not of their making, but despite this they completed the installation on time, leaving no mess or cause for complaint. Very pleased with the quality of the product and the improved look of my house. My only gripe, if you can call it that, is the thickness of the frames, they are much thicker than I anticipated. This seems to be a common feature of UPVC windows and something I had not taken into account when I ordered them.

“Terrible Customer Service”

Terrible terrible customer service! Great product, great fitters, but local office (chandlers Ford) awful. Very lengthy process. Surveyor didn't arrive when supposed to, then took weeks. Telephone messages never replied to. Head office don't want to know and in fact offer very rude responses - we even received a response from head office in error, it was meant for the branch, they referred to us by our surname only, saying "what does .... Want now"! Local office manager signs letters without reading them as she then claims to know nothing about them. No-one turns up when they are supposed to. Our doors were fitted in November, it is now June and they are still not finished DO NOT USE BRITANNIA WINDOWS

“Conservatory”

We had a conservatory built last year and what should have taken 6 to 7 weeks it took four and a half months thanks to Britannia. The sales manager didn't turn up for the initial meeting when he eventually arrived we then had to wait three weeks for the surveyor after leaving numerous messages with the office and the surveyor himself to find out when he would be arriving (very few calls were ever returned. Eventually, the surveyor arrived and took the measurements. A date was agreed for the roof and doors to be fitted - this was about 2 weeks after the surveyor took the measurements. The doors looked nice, but there was no roof! When asked about the roof, the fitters said that they had only been asked to fit the doors. After several phone call that were not replied to, the office eventually advised us that the roof hadn't been ordered as there was a query with a measurement! It was then another three weeks before the roof was fitted. When we complained it took five months to get an unsatisfactory reply. The Customer Service and Communication throughout the whole process has been absolutely awful. Although the product itself is good I would no9t recommend Britannia due to the stress involved using their poor work ethic and customer services.

Last year my wife and I had bi-fold doors installed by Britannia Windows. We were delighted with the result, which transformed a seldom used room into one where we spend most of the day ! We found all the staff whom we had dealings with were very professional in their approach. Consequently, we decided to go back to Britannia Windows this year when we wanted a new front door. Once again we are extremely pleased with our decision ! In our case, complete satisfaction was guaranteed !

“Super new conservatory”

We are very pleased with the new conservatory that replaced a very old one. The work was carried out efficiently, the 2 fitters worked well together. In particular they protected & cleaned the existing floor & left all the windows clean. I would definitely recommend Britannia Windows to friends & family.
